- Detailed tutorial on how to draft a basic pant (Slack foundation ) pattern .
The slack pattern, is more fitted than a trouser but does not fit the body closely like the Jean pattern . So here, I show you a simple method of drafting this basic pant which you can alter to make different design.

This is a slack the crotch extension is not as short as that of the jeans and May not need adjustment especially for a standard figure but if you have a big bum you can go ahead and double check and make adjustments if needed

On the front hip :40 divided by 2 - half inch = 9and a half. WHY DO U SUBTRACT A HAFT INCH ??
New subscriber alert!! I'm addicted... Thank you for the details. Please how can I pipe the front (crease) center line to make it prominent? I see some pants were the line is permanently creased or sown.
Thank you for subscribing to my channel . Before joining the front pieces carefully press the Crease with a steam iron . The simplest way to pipe the crease line is , you basically just fold the pant at the crease line and sew in ¹/₈” from the fold . Sew from waist to hem and then press with a steam iron . Another method will be to cut open the crease line get another fabric to create the pipe; place it in between the crease line you cut open . Seam allowance sewn inside to the wrong side, piping comes in between the seam but out on the right side. Hope my explanation in clear enough????

Add at most 1” to the side seam to the inseam add ⁵/₈ or ½”
Waist seam add ½
Hem 1” at least
For the second question I’m not sure of of question you can let me know the point on the video where I added ½ to the knee and bottom so I can watch it add see what you mean so let me know
Ok I mean u added ½inch on the knee ND bottom part when drafing the back. Like For the front part it was 4½ on the knee then 4 on the bottom but on the back it was 5 on the knee nd 4½ on the bottom. So now should I still add allowance to those part again?
@@ifemengozi2302 oh yes this is cos the leg line is wider at the back than the front so you need that extra ease to balance the pant and also, depending on the style of the pant you could add as much as 1 inch to the back knee and bottom instead of ½ inch .

Do we add ease at the measurements eg. Front Hip is 40 divided by 4 minus 1/2” now at this point do we add the ease??? Or do we take the 40 + 1 and divide by 4 then minus 1/2…I’m confused about this..thanks
Do the calculations then after add the ease. For example 40÷4−½ =9½ now add ease this will then be 9½ + ¹/₄ = 9¾

Sure is ...one mistake and you end up with a clothes that doesn’t fit
How did you calculate the crotch depth
You can get an estimate using your waist measurement for the crotch depth , but I’d prefer you take the measurement directly on your body . I did an illustration in this video already but just in case you didn’t get it, “tie a string on your waistline and sit on a chair then measure from the string on you waistline to the seat whatever you get is your crotch depth “.
For an estimate calculation, multiply your waist circumference by 0.175 and then add 6 inches . For example a waist 28” this will be
28 × 0.175 = 4.9 then add 6” = 10.9
Because this is an estimate I would round up 10.9 to 11 inches. I hope I answered your question?? Thanks for watching

My guess, differing anatomy. Men have a different crotch, you got to cater to their crotch (their penises, their pelvis), it would require more "give" in the fabric.
