    The 64gb was the best option. You just put a 1TB micro sd card and you’re golden. Or if you wanted to upgrade to a 1TB internal SSD you could do that too. Very easy to do.

      Does not matter anymore as that is replaced with 256gb and at the same price that you could still upgrade for more if you wanted to... but who wants that now everyone will get oled 512gb or 1tb one.

    • @Nifterific
      @Nifterific 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 64gb only worked if you used a small SD card or know how to link your shader cache folder to your SD card in desktop mode. Once you start filling up even a 512 with the “wrong” games, stuff like P4G or DMCV that have like 10+gb shaded cache download you kill your 64gb internal fast. It’s not worth it to go 64gb.

      Depending on your use case if you want to play AAA titles it is better to go with the Ally or Go with the Z1 extreme chip
      If you mainly play lighter games or maybe retro emulation I would say go for the Steam Deck for the cheaper price you would be getting better value plus you are going to get better battery life

    I'm completely sold on the 512GB Deck 1.5
    I'm making an active effort to be one of the first people in line for it. I don't plan to go very AAA on it since I have a PC, but I don't want to be at my PC every time I want to play something lighter. I want it to be that lower-power gaming monster it's touted to be Now With Eye-Popping Colors™
    I want Valve to get my money because of the effort they're putting into the Linux gaming experience that I have never seen anybody remotely come close to. I want this to take off. I want to be a part of it.

    I think it’s awesome they are releasing a revised version as it shows that Valve views the Deck as a more console like option.
    Also even though I don’t have one I agree gameplay is smoother than Windows as I have recently installed Ubuntu on a separate drive and I think gameplay is smoother due to how proton handles the games along with pre-shader caching that SteamOS and Linux does through proton that allows the game to already have those assets running as each game I have played, Resident Evil, Halo, Counter Strike 2 and etc run smooth with no lag or stutter

    I`ve been considering a handheld for a while, and was really waiting for deep dives comparing the Ally and the Legion go, with me leaning towards the go because of the bigger screen and added versatility with the ability to use it as a windows tablet, but the new Deck does throw a wrench in the works... On one hand I`m more interested in a windows device because I want to play game pass games natively on device, as well as my Xbox play anywhere games (not to mention the added power the Ally and Go offer over the deck, which would be particularly useful when emulating Xbox 360 and PS3) but on the other hand I am intrigued by the Deck`s more streamlined experience, am interested In the OLED screen, am tempted by the price of the 512gb version, and feel compelled to support valve`s efforts with the deck...
    I guess I`m going to hold out a bit longer, so that some deep dives comparing all 3 devices can help me decide

    • @Eskoxo

    I don't game on the go as much anymore, nor do I own a Steam Deck, but watching this video and seeing what Valve is doing is a plus for consumers. I say this upgraded SD won't get me to buy one. For me, power doesn't matter to me as much on a "portable" gaming device. I care about battery life, size, and the library more than power on a Steam Deck. Having a Steam account, I can say Valve has the healthiest gaming library right now out of the gaming space. 2-3 hours for a AAA game on a Steam Deck is fine, I rarely play more than 1-2 hours on a game even on dedicate consoles anyways. What I really like to see is a size decrease, maybe a Steam Deck SE where they shrink the size, get rid of the extra bells and whistles, keep WiFi 6e or whatever, and a 1080p display with that bigger battery. Maybe just a niche ask.

    • @TheSniperWho
      @TheSniperWho 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would argue that's not a niche ask. I think the reality is that right now there are probably a set of disappointing tradeoffs in regards to designing a smaller deck. It might not be possible to make it smaller than what it already is now. My feeling is that Valve's strategy is to wait until the hardware world improves before making Steam Deck 2. Part of the brilliance in what Valve is doing is taking what already exists and fitting together like a puzzle to create a compelling device that has all the right tradeoffs. These tradeoffs pertain to internal design, performance metrics, software design, ergonomic design, and maybe something else I'm forgetting. I'd like to believe that Valve will do exactly what you're suggesting and I'd be hyped if they do! :D

    better battery life, bigger screen, fan is quieter, a bit lighter, brighter and crisper screen and same price as the old version. its a nice updated version. As far as I'm concerned, It doesn't matter how powerful the hardware is if the software can't give you a pleasant experience would be too frustrating to use. This comes from having both the steam deck and ROG Ally. I use the Ally and exclusively for games that require the power and that I would sit down to play plugged into a wall. I use the steam deck when I want to Go somewhere away from an outlet and play something like hollow Knight while I'm waiting for the doctor to call me in. Practically speaking, I don't play demanding games on the steam deck because I don't see it as a system to do that on. I would use my gaming rig or the ROG Ally that can give me some nice higher graphics settings, whereas I use the steam deck for the light titles that I could play on the go.

    I have the 64gb model...big mistake....sure you can fiddle around with it or get someone to do it but seriously I'd rather get the 1TB OLED at this point...chuck in my 512 gb sd card for good measure and not worry about space anymore. AND in spite of all the changes I still get to use all my accessories. I've watched about 10 videos today lol....the haptics are way better too. For me it's going to be one heck of an upgrade.

    • @Antisocialnerd2
      @Antisocialnerd2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you want to play modern AAA games you kinda need the go...
      But if you play indies visual novels or emulated retro it would be the steam deck...
      The real question you need to ask yourself is do I NEED that extra power and am I willing to spend an extra 300 quid or so.

      @@Antisocialnerd2no you don't.
      I own an Ally and a deck. Deck for AAA 30-40 fps low to medium settings. Ally 40 to 60ish fps medium to high settings. The Allys battery life is bad though and it eats SD cards. The screen is amazing though .... but the Deck OLED being HDR and OLED is going to put a big dent in that.

    • @Antisocialnerd2
      @Antisocialnerd2 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@eagle_rb_mmoomin_418 Pc master race is generally pretty snobby and a lot of them consider anything less than 60fps to be unplayable.
      Personally I'm fine once I get over 30fps since I grew up with atari and Sega but the steam deck is struggling with current titles I would definitely say if your primary goal was to play AAA games then the extra 300 quid or so for almost five times the power is definitely worth it.

      @@Antisocialnerd2 yes but which one is better for like if you did want to use it like a computer which one is better for media and for browsing the web and for doing games on I don’t need the best performance. @@BeardsBaconTech Then it's unquestionably the legion go since it runs windows 11 so you will be able to use all the standard windows programs for school etc
      The steam deck uses a Linux based steam os so much harder to do school projects etc.
