Huge Airbourne Formula Ford crash!

During the Formula Ford festival at Brands Hatch 2010,
Drivers slow up for a yellow flag at Paddock Hill bend but slowing speeds catch out a back marker at the time, sending him over the top of rivals and summersulting end-over-end in to the fence!
Incredibly the driver walked away, visibly fine after his accident!

It's amazing that he survived.
There was no roll cage so it looked like his head and neck were getting smashed into his body (srry to be graphic) by the ground and the weight of the car.
I spoke to my engineer today, who went to Brands with Robbie. He is pretty stiff and banged up at the moment, but thats it! awesome footage!

@westfieldbend I think she was on about someone at the bottom of the Paddock viewing area, he was on a small step ladder like yours but right in the way, like in all of my videos, he standing right in the way.
I was at druids at the time and saw the car land but i didn't think it was that big. Bloody hell !! Lucky Boy.
well done, well caught. thang god he was ok, and no marshals were standing in that area
@Orduz Auto racing helmets are very, very strong and absorb a ton of energy. The helmet would easily protect the driver's head if it were sandwiched between a tire wall and a race car cockpit.
@Orduz In slow motion I think his helmet does actually hit the tyre wall once. But he was so lucky!

How he wasn't hurt is just...wow, testament to today's safety standards indeed.

@Davegpmoto21 well can you drive a f1 car?
Had the wall been a single feet higher and his head would be crushed when he first hits it at 0:31 or at the last impact 0:37.
@Davegpmoto21 Yeah, they go slower but the racing action is a million times better! Speed isn't everything, for example, BTCC are amazing but they don't do 200mph. Mighty mini racing is brilliant and they struggle to get to 100!

@Davegpmoto21 but you forgetting an important fact. F1 is boring and Formula Ford is not and all so F ford has very close racing with real over taking, as F1 is neither. just because F1 cars go 200+ doesn't make them better.
