    90's home theater was awesome. You needed such a huge variety of different components and cables to get the most out of everything, and it all just looked awesome. It cost money, you had to put in the work, and it was a special experience!
    If you had a laserdisc player and digital surround sound in 1996, you were going to impress anyone on movie night!

      Sure! This model also come with Digital Video Processing for 3D Comb Filter it's doesn't do very much but still does a job for CLV Frame Step and Both side play. Also Support both AC3-RF and DTS/PCM Audio.

      @@mikedelgado8888 Same here. I'm looking for a Laserdisc player with AC-3 output. Since I found my mom's Toshiba WR-X75 player 7 months ago I've been trying to figure out how I can get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound with a demodulator, but unfortunately the player is from 1992, so I have to find a player manufactured as early as 1995 along with an AC-3 Demodulator so I can at least connect with the TV and get the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound that way.

    In the late 1990s, animated films on DVD had 5.1 surround sound & 16:9 enhancement like Antz & The Iron Giant.

    Nice! Great video! I've started collecting laserdiscs and just barely upgraded from a player that only did analogue audio, to one that does digital stereo. Next step will be one with an AC-3 RF out and to buy a demodulator.

    What port do I plug in my colorless rca cable from my AC3 RF demodulator into my Laserdisc player?
    I have no clue how to do any of this.

    Very informative

    So let me get this straight. In order to get surround sound for Laserdisc from a current, modern-day home theater system, you need a RF Demodulator? I'll have to keep that in mind when I invest on a Laserdisc Home Theater room. Can RF Demodulator do DTS Digital Surround Sound as well?

    • @thongchat457

      It's has a separate connection. AC3-RF Signal is Digital but it's converted and squeezed to the analog form it's can't be played 5.1 audio directly neither analog or digital form, you need to choose 3 difference way to convert the signal such as AC3-RF Compatible AVR, Demodulator or Sound Processor, DTS signal won't go through that way.
      For DTS it's very simple, you must have both DTS LD Title and LD Player with Optical Out connected to AVR, for Dolby AC3-RF it's a little bit tedious process.
      - Direct Digital Audio will get Dolby Surround Stereo
      - Analog will be stored only for the left side, right one reserved for AC3-RF Signal. (from AC3RF-Out to De-Mo then Opt.Out to AVR)
      - DTS will work on simple-passthrough digital optical output only (from LD to AVR)

    At around 8 and a half minutes in you had come across a U1 error code, I just bought a Denon LA-2300 with an AC-3 output and I have the same problem do you know what it is and how to fix it.

    • @kingcrimson234

      I have a Denon LA-2300 that does this very occasionally. It's probably the belt for the clamping mechanism getting worn out, but I haven't looked into it yet.

    Pioneer laseractive , a NON-AC3 player, can FORCE an AC3 disc to sound in STEREO. All other non-AC3 laserdisc players will make a loud static from the right channel.

    • @rabbit73au
      @rabbit73au 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had a few non AC3 laserdisc players I have never had any static from the right channel because AC3 and non AC3 are recorded on a different track

    • @kingcrimson234
      @kingcrimson234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rabbit73au That's because your player must have supported the normal digital stereo tracks. AC3 channel won't interfere with those, but if you used an analog only player or switched your player to analog mode, you would have heard the static.

    Putting your laserdisc player on top of your receiver isn't a good idea.

    • @thongchat457
      @thongchat457  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! Back then I can't find any placement for my receiver.

    • @kingcrimson234
      @kingcrimson234 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A worse idea is putting the center speaker on top of the Laserdisc player!
