Great video as always , I can set my sound on a knob but I cant set the brightness, the jog dial won’t go to the hardware part to pick the knob. There are no _ _ _ when you select backlight. Edit : reading through the comments I need to move to a newer firmware 😀
Thanks for the video, I'm running OpenTX 2.3.4 and when I selected Backlight, it won't give me the option to select the witch for it. If I select the volume or something else then it allows me to select a switch for that function. Any idea why?

I found out the reason why it does not work when I use the Global Function Method. I didn’t realize that the use of the Global Functions has to be turned on in each model. Thanks.

On my RadioMaster ver 2.3.9, under global functions there are only two fields. I can choose “on” and in the next column, backlight. There are no other columns available. Any help would be appreciated.
I bought the TX16 S se binded a wing it works but Left Corner Up aileron Right side lower corner Down, Left Corner Bottom Turn R. Right Bottom Turn L. What did I do Wrong ?

Backlight is the 2nd column. ON is 1st, Backlight is 2nd, Source is 3rd. What version of firmware are you using? I'm on 2.3.11 and that's how it works on mine. No fuss at all.

I don't, but that's more than a snippet. There are two images in the THEMES\DEFAULT folder. One is called shutdown.bmp and the other is called sleep.bmp Sleep is 150x150. Shutdown is 110x110. You can change/delete those to get rid of the silly sleep image. I did that day one.

I tried changing both pictures with the correct format BMP and the correct size 110x110 and 150x150 accordingly and I labeled them the correct way And it’s still not working ( I can see an outline of the picture but there’s no color in that picture - if that makes any sense ) I was wondering if a pro like you could figure it out and help us all Thank you

This does NOT work for me. It works perfectly for the volume function, but has no effect for the back light. I tried swapping pots, S1 and S2 between backlight and volume because Iknow the volume pot I selected "S2" works for volume. No effect. And yes. I did click and fill the "active" checkbox at the end of the global variables config line. Any ideas on whats wrong?

I had already adjusted the off brightness to be almost completely dark and the on brightness to maximum before I had even watched your video. It can't be a bad potentiometer because the volume adjustment works fine on S1 or S2. The brightness does not work on either one. Both lines on the global variables page are identical except for the function and the Pot number. It's crazy. The brightness function works perfectly in the system menu too.

I was using my TX16s today and somehow changed settings and it boots with no screen. It boots fine, but I never see anything (except a very dim flash) and can't figure out how to fix it. I'm honestly beginning to wonder if something is broken, but I can't see why. I did make some changes in the field, but they had nothing to do with the screen.
@@RCVideoReviews Bad lcd/touch. I've disassembled/reassembled everything possible and it's gotta be that. Every function of the radio still works fine. I can hook into BF and move/see everything and I can also flash firmwares with OTXC. The screen went black during use and when I boot the unit it doesn't even flash on for a second (like I'd expect if the issue was software/firmware related) it's just always black. After boot, if I shine a flashlight at just the right angle I can see the appropriate menu displayed but as if it were the display of a 1990's solar calculator that had juuuuust enough light to barely work. Waiting to get a response from the people at Radiomaster concerning warranty coverage, but a new screen is under $30 direct and around $50 from resellers. If they don't cover it I'm buying that 1st and going on from there.
I had the TX16s Max under a week, but I bought a "customer return" and I'm not sure if they're going to cover it. The unit was essentially new but I know how most companies are. I've heard good things about RM so we'll see.

@@angelfpv4825 If you have a TX16s Max, you have an S2 pot. As far as your TBS build of OpenTx--I can't answer if they've made changes to the hardware choices--but they shouldn't have. That would annoy me.
@@angelfpv4825 sounds like your version of firmware doesn’t have the option. After clicking “sys”, page to the very end box with the letter i in it. You need 2.3.10 for it to work as stated above. I’m running 2.3.9 so, I can’t use the knob for brightness. Waiting for 2.4 before I upgrade.
Just tried this with my Jumper T16 and it works awesome, but mine doesn't go to black. It dims alot, which is fine, I probably would never have the need to black it out anyways. @@leoponce82ponce Not sure then. If you have the off brightness turned down and the knob works, it should be able to be turned off just like you saw in the video. Maybe try 2.3.11--that's what I have.

You have to upgrade to 2.3.10 or later. This is a relatively new feature.

Yep that was it. Almost bricked it but managed to make it work after I got the SD card update loaded back onto the radio 😀

@@q1v1 Honestly--delete them. ;) If you really want them, make them in Paint.net and save as bmp. OTX is really picky about graphics.

Are you on 2.3.10 or later? Is your off brightness lower than your on brightness in the system menu?

Does your off slider in the system menu go all the way to the left? I'm on 2.3.11.

my screen does not turn black, it just goes to minimun brightness but not OFF
I haven't tested, but you may have to go into system settings and set the off brightness all the way down.
