Thank you for this review!!! I just order this geared head. I've been going crazy trying to find a good geared head for my real estate business. Your review sold it!!! I can't wait until it gets here. Thank you!!!
Thanks for the review, I've been hesitant to buy a geared head but this sure me that extra nudge to finally invest in a geared head and get to shooting them spaces :)
Unfortunately, everything is setup for the right hand. It would be a bit awkard but you could possibly mount the camera 180 degrees so it's basically on the left side....
I just picked up the Manfrotto xpro 3 geared head for $200. When I mount my camera, D850, and I use my live view mode on my monitor and zoom in to a point, then fine tune my focus point to that target, the camera and head continue to move in the direction I was turning the fine tune knob in even after I stop turning the knob until it coast to a stop on its own. Then I have to screw the knob in the other direction a bit and even then back in the original direction till it finally settles on the target. I believe the head and camera should come to a complete stop the instant I stop turning the knob. Does this same thing happen with the 410 jr.? I’m thinking about returning it and checking out the 410 that you’re using???
Hey Rob. That sounds like a good test method so I tried that with a 5D IV and 100m Macro focusing on a subject about 20 ft away. I can confirm when you let go of the 410 it stays pretty solid on the point. However, at such zooms I did notice a little movement when initiating to move but once it starts panning/titlting/rotating it moves steady. Upon release it maintains it's point. I've never used the XPro 3 but I did consider it when searching for an architecture head. It sounds from your description the 410 will handle fine tuning better than the XPro 3. Hope this helps.
Good video, thanks! I was wondering, why would you zoom in your 11mm lens to 24? Can you use it at all at 11? I use a 16-35 for my interiors, need to use the vertical adjustment tool in Lightroom a lot due to distortion. Can you use 11mm at all inside? Many thanks, Jeff.
You have to be careful at 11mm on a Full Frame. Depending on how you frame the shot you will start to see distortion at the edges especially if you are close to the subject. Doors and windows will look wider than they should and Lightroom can't fix that. I rarely zoom all the way into 24mm on interiors. Usually around 11-20mm but it depends on the setting on how you frame it.
Hello! I've had it for almost 2 years now and just used it a few days ago. It pretty much stays on one of my tripods and I use it every time for architecture / real estate. Still works solid and I recommend it for this type of photography.
@@jaguarjj No it's solid. I'm using the Canon 11-24 and that's actually a beast on the 5D IV. That's the whole reason I switched to geared head so it just stays put.
Just got this 410 head with a 475b tripod. Disappointment. Is NOT as smooth as you imply. Jumps around when turning the worm gears and sticks in some positions..
That’s a bummer. Have you tried exchanging it? Mine is still smooth even with a large lens. Sounds like you got a defective one because it shouldn’t do that.
Congrats on starting a new photo career! If you don't already have a portfolio, I would start there. It could also be helpful to find a real estate agent you can work along with. Doing research on the demand for photographers can help you price your services in the area. At moo.com you can make some pretty cool business cards.
Your review is easy to follow and down to earth as well as very informative. Greatly appreciate your mention of the use of natural light! So many videos push for an arsenal of lighting and flash equipment - they can be intimidating and difficult to follow. This video was far from that - thank you.
Thanks for sharing bud i have the 3 sect version . looking for heads for heavy pro dslr,s and lenses is a horrible job in itself , tons of foreign rip offs , pepole givibg them great reviews . pheeerrr , so i decided on this head , any problems with any manfrotto gear it gets replaced , theres no phoning around wondering why the company has just evaporated into thin air after blowing a months wages 😀😀😀😀

Great vid! I just made a comparison video between the Manfrotto 410 and the MHXPRO-3WG.

The build of the head is plastic or metal?
Mostly all metal. Steal I believe. The knobs are plastic. It’s feels solid.
Just starting my real estate Photographer career any tips ?
