    Oh, Mr Coleman! Such a shame, she is such a joy to drive, albeit requiring some proper skill. Pleased to see that she will be rebuilt!

    Gutted for you, hope it doesn't break the bank to get it fixed. Hope to see it back up and running soon

    So sorry to hear you news. It's great that she's in good hands as she'll be back on the road soon. I hope it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg.

    Gutted for you I am 8k into a rebuild on a 12k 110 V8 County which should never have needed anything. Tears have been shead also. Least you can get the bay sorted and protected and will hopefully end up with a bulletproof engine at the end of it all. You have some stunning cars my friend.

    Only just picked up on this post.when the V6 was new, (reviewing your comment that the heads had been off) , there was a call back for the head gasket as both the 90 and the GTV 6 had to have a modified cylinder head gasket due to losing water.

    I don't know if anyone else has commented this but that "tensioner for the cambelt" is actually an automatic de-tensioner, so it relies on oil pressure to de-tension the belt (so at startup the belt is actually at a lower tension to reduce chance of failure) it also means it fails safe, all that will happen if it fails is it will put more tension on the belt. Good luck trying to figure it out, if I think of anything I'll comment again

    You certainly had me confused with the previous video ! This was all you needed, but if anybody can get that engine sorted it is you. I look forward to seeing build progress as is practically possible to film

    That's such a shame. I remember my 75 3.0 litre, nothing was ever cheap but the reward is high, so always forgave it even when the power steering rack shared and broke the bank lol

    Sorry to hear about the engine. Isn't this the same engine that would have been in a GTV V6 or early 164. Might be worth trying to find a stand in engine whilst you rebuild it to get it back on the road. Would also provide some replacement parts if you need them.

    I'm no expert but it certainly sounds like timing has slipped or something. My 1999 Volvo V70 sprung a leak several years back. It was VW supplied 2.5 5 cylinder TDI. Turned out that the water pump bearing collapsed. I was nursing it home when it got progressively noisier at about 15 mph so I switched it off. I had been very lucky. The belt came off the water pump pulley which had a collapsed bearing. The belt came up against the timing case cover before it came off completely so dumb luck allowed me to stop the engine just before Catastrophe.
    She wouldn't turn over just knocked. So my brother said order water pump and timing kit and if all is lost then at least the cost of finding out will only be about £60. I wasn't bothered because she had 210,000 miles on. Guess what. When the timing was reset she started and I put on 30,000 more miles before I sold her. Turned out that the life of the water pump is 75,000 miles maximum and if it is changed every 50,000 miles with the timing belt, then this will never happen. I failed to change the pump once and 25,000 miles later it collapsed. Lesson learnt, albeit less painfully than it should have been. I look forward to this beautiful Alfa 90 returning better than ever before. Thank you for allowing us to share Boss. You're a LEGEND.

    Aha I thought you'd turned off the comments to keep us guessing before a video - this one in fact - was ready to explain more.
    I'm absolutely gutted for you but if ever there was a man who was committed to getting her back on the road and with the knowhow and contacts, tis you Mr Coleman. On a positive note, at least this happened ahead of show season and you weren't on a Smart motorway when it did! It will also provide us lucky viewers with some very interesting content too.
    Third theory on the engine seizing. Might somebody have followed your advice and stuck a fork in it somewhere?

      Bacon consumed with many beers last week.... its going up to my close buddies up that North from who I got bought the from to get the engine out and see what's happened..... I shall do my best to keep everyone in the loop.....

    I don't know anything about Alfas but couldn't you take the covers off and have a look at the cams to see if there's anything to see. Snapped camshaft?

  • @155stw
    @155stw 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Reviewed your older video. I think it’s a cam timing issue. The clacking was so loud which I don’t think is a bottom end. It’s a valve to piston. Do you have the timing belt covers on before? Because I have had a small wire going a drift and getting caught in the cam pulley and skipped the timing by 1 tooth, I was lucky. The wire didn’t bind, so I never suspected it, but it was indeed something stray getting caught. But a failed tensioner is also possible. Just plug it up and make it into a fixed tensioner. There must be loads of used 2.5 available as many have ditched them for a 3.0. All you need is a set of Victor Reinz gasket set. so whats it wrong? Hello. I'm not sure I understand. If you have non-working abs, you will have normal breaks. Same hardness and came power.
    Abs only unlocks wheels in case of a lock situation
