    Thanks for the comparison with the Pilar and the Rat2, it really helped put the size of the knife into perspective.

    Another excellent EDC review! The Piet, despite the 8Cr series steel, performed the paper cut test superbly, at least equal to the Off-Grid Knives Fat Boy Aus 8 blade. In fact, the Piet blade is so sharp out-of-box, that I wonder about what makes the 8Cr13MoV steel so "budget". Interesting commentary indeed! Thanks again!

    After watching the Thero review just now, this knife is looking so much better! I would LOVE everything about this knife if the steel was 14C28N!

    Watching this after picking up the piet, I saw it at cabelas and saw the voxnaes design and was convinced. It’s been great for the week or two I’ve had it. I agree I don’t know what’s wrong with a crkt, I own 4 and they’re all fantastic knives that fit into their price ranges perfectly in my experience.

    For the price it’s a useful utility knife. Beat, sharpen, repeat. I’ll probably pick one up to replace my Squid at some point.

    I don't get it- the Piet is comparatively cheaper than the Pilar but still has a nicely chamfered hole, recessed screws, true deep carry clip, and a cool backspacer to boot; while the latter feels rough around the edges. It is everything the Pilar should have been.

  • @Phil-S8
    @Phil-S8 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's very attractive for the price, and CRKT finally seems to understand that people want slim knives with deep carry clips.
    Is the Civivi Chronic somewhat disappointing for a Civivi? I ask because it's the first Civivi I have bought, and I wasn't quite as impressed as I thought I would be.

    • @jmuhr8952
      @jmuhr8952 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll say it was. I love most of my civivi knives but most of the last half dozen they’ve released didn’t quite live up to what I’ve come to expect. I will say though the rustic gent completely blew me away.

    • @jmuhr8952
      @jmuhr8952 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The governor was one I actually sold to a friend after a day or two. Kinda bigger than what I’m used to and not a great action at all. The Durus, elementum, baklash, hooligan, little fiend, and the McKenna are probably my favorites. And also the Isham designed ones are pretty solid if you’re into his designs.

    I can sign on to one or two of their knives being 8cr along with cheaper materials. And you can see it's well made and eye catching. But they had so many models coming out with the same low budget materials at shot show this year. I don't understand it. I'd rather pay $50 for D2 or 9cr for some of their new knives, I'll end up taking my money somewhere that has a bit better to offer. 🤷‍♂️

      8Cr is the cheap stainless option, D2 is the cheap stainful option. Not everyone can accept staining and the need for a bit of maintenance. A maple-handled one with a blacked-out D2 blade would be SWEET.
