The funniest thing about the first meme, the fairy type one, is that it actually does make sense if you consider the fact that many legends of fairyish creatures originally had them creepy or even scary!!
The modern fairy is quite different from most fairy-esque legends :3
Also I’m fairly sure that the word fairy is a modern thing too. Mainly because, as far as I’m aware, the word “fae” was used more in those original legends and folklore/folktales

Granbull: It was always listed as fairy type. Also fairy dogs are a thing in some British myths.
Grimmsnarl: It's an imp, a cross between a fairy and a demon. Dark/fairy is the most fitting type for it.
Klefki: It's based on myths of mischievous fairies who like to steal keys.
Mimikyu: Not all fairies are beautiful. It is based on ugly fae creatures, so ugly that anyone seeing them would die, but it tries best to be friends with people.
Celebi: It was a dual type before fairy type existed so it couldn't be given fairy type retrospectively.
Melloetta: Most sound moves are normal, so Melloetta being normal type makes sense.
Shaymin: Grass type already represents its nature theme.

@@zir2876 also about Galarian Weezing, it's a regional form so it couldn't have been pure Poison like regular Weezing. They could've completely based it on factories and made it Poison/Steel but they went the route of air purifying instead. So 2 options for secondary typings are fairy and grass. But it has 0 grass attributes. So it had to be fairy.

Did you know? There were as many fairies back in the day that were just as ugly and threatening as they were beautiful and cute. Even the common Goblin was considered to be a fairy back then. I know it's bizarre but fairies were known to be quite mischievous and at times evil in older stories. So the fact that a yeti monster with green skin and a purple bipedal dog with gigantic fangs could be labeled as fairy. While other much cuter and nicer pokémon aren't, is because not all fairies were sunshine and rainbows. The things parents talked about to keep their kids running off into the woods right?

Someone has no understanding of what fairy or fae truly means. they all make sense if you knew anything about fae creatures.

@@M4x_P0w3r the best quick explanation I can give you is that fairy types are nature spirits, light magic users, or mischievous tricksters/illusionist. Not all of them have a lore or origin/design reason to be fairy type. Some were just game mechanics and/or marketing. Also fairy is one of the abstract types so it's harder to explain.
I recommend Lockstin's videos about fairy type pokemon. i highly recommend his pokemon videos in general too. he has videos of every type explaining what it means and why the pokemon that are that type are that type. and sometimes which ones shouldn't be that type (probably the ones that are purely fairy type for game mechanics reasons or marketing)

Celebi is designed after the typical tinkerbell fairy and is revered as the guardian of the forest, so it makes more sense to be a fairy than to be a psychic
Shaymin is honestly Celebi 2.0. It's whole thing is purifying the pollution of it's surroundings with its flower and using them in a ritual of gratitude to change forms.
Meloetta is inspired by the muses, divinities of the arts. Meloetta in particular focuses on singing and dancing. Fae are known for their liking of those two forms of art in particular. I think there is enough room for the fairy type to be instead of psychic too.
@@M4x_P0w3r those sound good but celebi (and shaymin) would then be 4x weak to poison. that doesn't make too much sense for the guardian of the forest. maybe fairy/psychic since psychic can fight against poison unlike grass or fairy. similar with shaymin, but that would be just adding a type not replacing like with celebi. those i guess could be a reason for certain pokemon to have 3 types.
Meloetta, i can see that, but it uses the psychic type to control feelings with music like binaural beats (normal is a stand-in for sound type; can't get rid of normal type since its sound based moves would lose power). maybe they could make another form that's fairy type?
changing legendary and mythical pokemon's typings would change their lore.
