This video has such great capture of everythings hangtime! Heard a rumor while in another pyros livestream while talking about alternatives for rice hulls for bursts on willows and heard back in the day Ned would use different sizes of broken hemp buds, leaves and seeds well milled in black powder along with his color stars. Built myself a large fountian using cbd hemp biomass and seeds in honor of Neds experience level with this to celebrate the last day of rashashana. These Ned Gorski videos are so interesting. I could see how this would be satisfying work. Art, science, engineering and craftsmanship all rolled into one.
Wow.. simply incredible.. the take off sound of rockets is just amazing (sounds like a real missile).. long lasting sparkling explosion in the night sky is just a delight to watch
Love your work. And you hat :) For rocket counterwieghts I use spent 9mm or 5.56 casings you can pick up at any range (with permission) taped around the wood. It works phenominally well and greatly reduces the wood you need. Try it out!
Yep, I agree with the anouncer's suggestion that it would be nice to have Uncle Ned show up at the house with a batch of experiments. Only thing is, my Australian Shepard would end up in a doggy mental hospital from overwhelming panic attacks. He like many dogs runs, hides and shakes to the bone when he encounters loud explosive noises. With him, cap guns are a no,no. On the other hand another dog we had was a Beagle and firing a shotgun fazed him not at all as he circled the rabbit back to the hunter.
Great video. How many inches deep and what diameter did you make the hollow core on the BP motor and how many inches long and diameter is the motor tube? Just finished making a BP rocket with a 1in report header but I’m hoping it lifts as some of my others either CATO’d or just didn’t lift. I want to be sure I’m choosing the right nozzle and BP core diameter in order to create the best amount of thrust. If you have any math formulas for fireworks weight and balance and nozzle size calculations for standard BP please let me know 🙏🏿. Once again the info was BANGING! ❤…pun intended 😂
@@av92 I don't know, Adam. I'm making the components for 60 rockets for later this Fall. Making BP, making rocket propellant, waxing tubes, making stars, making other garnitures, making rising comet, making tube buster salutes. Then I'll be pressing motors, assembling and finishing headings, and then assembling the finished rockets. Lots of little steps I'll be working on most of the Summer.
@@av92 I will hopefully be posting vids later in the year, Adam. I'll be playing with comet to report inserts, falling leaves, and a variety of stars and garnitures. stay tuned. Patience is certainly a key in this art. In firework making, nothing good happens quickly.
Hey Ned, can you point me towards a good starting off point kit for rocket building. Have been to your website several times and cant find info on legality ordering the fuel kits such as whistle and or strobe considering i have no license. And a good beginner's press. Appreciate any and all info.
I'd suggest Caleb's cohete tooling, or beginner's BP motor tooling kit, from woodysrocks.com , Mike. There is no license needed for ordering tooling or chemicals in hobbyist quantities, in the US, for now. Good luck. A good beginner's press would be an arbor press.
Explains why after setting up the main show TR made us stand with the crowd while he set off his rockets, "to get the best angle" he said, then he would let us go back down to fire the show.
I never was really interested in building rockets until I realized they were “orientation devices”. I haven’t built and aerial shell since. And in the VERY beginning I was reading and trying to learn from Skylighter. As there was no TH-cam back then. Or it wasn’t big if around at all. Then when YT was bigger I found “Uncle Ned” and his Pyro 101.....up to now 104 and his online pyro library. As it has all the info you’d ever need to know about pyrotechnics.
Good to hear you're enjoying the art, James. Being able to reliably orient a cylindrical heading/shell really benefits the desired effect. Fallout has to be addressed, but that can be done with the addition of stick/tube-buster salutes. Enjoy.
I'm in the Ohio, Indiana area, Ev. Enjoy your visit if you can make it over here. If you like fireworks, the PGI convention in August is a fine pyro time.
