I just got a bunch of Barbies from an Estate sale. They are from the 60's. This was very helpful. Thank you! I also used dawn dish detergent being careful not to soak them.
If the hair is snagged from a lot of brushing, that's not repairable but there are ways to make it look better (All my childhood barbies have this issue!) Snags = Frizzy hair. I'd start with rinsing the hair in warm water and some human conditioner. Rinse it and then apply more conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb to very gently comb the hair and remove tangles. If you're rough it will snag the hair! Rinse the conditioner out but you can also leave a little in. It will help with frizz. You can also dip the hair in some fabric softener and comb it through. For some dolls you can use heat to improve the hair. You can trim some hair off the bottom of the hair if it's frizzy. Awesome find! I'd be dancing with joy. I'm so glad the video was helpful!
I also used a toothbrush with gentle bristles to get the hard spots!

Thanks for the cleaning info!!!!
Thank you so much. I have some straight leg Barbies from the 70s and prior, and I've been so freaked out about cleaning them-
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful to you!
I’ve got eighties Barbies any tips on how to wash and restyle their hair please? It’s a mess!
