Genetic tests found that some British and Irish cattle breeds like the Kerry descend from the Local Aurochs/Wild Cattle found on the Isles...It is interesting that White Aurochs were drawn at the Lascaux Cave and not far from there in Alsace cattle with White backs like the Vosgienne Breed originated. They look remarkably similar to the Droimeann Cattle of Ireland.

This is a lovely and informative video, and no offence intended , I have to say though I struggle a bit with the idea that these cattle were brought over by the Armada , and kept alive for several months while the Spanish fleet sailed all up round Scotland and back down . and then somehow replaced all the cattle already in Ireland. The "shipwreck" theory about the origin of a breed is a recurring theme and I have come across it before in connection with sheep pigs and dogs . Don't forget there are other breeds of Black cattle in The British Isles , Aberdeen Angus, Welsh Black , and Galloway. If you look at really old photographs of cattle or medieval pictures of cattle pulling a plough , all the animals seem to have been around the size of the modern Dexter .
