Bought one and I love it. Sure it costs more than the 9.7" iPad. But you're getting a way better display and way faster processor. The new Mini is essentially a smaller version of the new iPad Air. The Mini is so easy to travel with, and to carry around or hold for long periods of time while playing a game, watching a video, or reading an ebook.
If you want a powerful but smaller tablet with a great screen, the Mini is for you.
So is it mainly just good for media consumption?

I’ve switched from the 2018 iPad to this to do my flowcharts on Notability at work. While there’s less real estate, holding and carrying the Mini is just easier.
I've had it since it released, it's still pretty good!
There’s no competition in this form factor at this price. Best device Apple have made this year imo. Got one recently and it’s awesome!
I just got my iPad mini 5 today and I must say it’s an amazing iPad I had the iPad mini 4 and I just enjoy the iPad mini way more than the full size. But I’m loving it. 😊😁📱⌚️🖥💻

To be honest, the bezels make sense, because you have something to hold on without covering the screen. completely different story when holding an iphone X or Xr
I love the larger bezels and I hate Face ID.
I don't care the bezzels tbh...As a fact..if its full screen its hard to hold it as normal as you should be cause when your using a case....So yeah understandable...And now im watching this in my Ipad Mini 5th..Its still cute and unique than any Tablets....What i love about this id that Its powerful,Effeciency,Astonishing when working businesses or as astudent it fits perefctly like arts,taking notes,Etc....10/10 Fo me🙌🏻✨

Found an ipad Pro 2017 in mint condition for 300 and got this ipad mini 5 I'm good for the next 4 yrs.
apple now learned their lesson.. with the performance of the ipad mini 5 with cheap pricing that rivals top android flagships it will sell like hotcakes.

If gaming is your goal, you'll want the Mini 6th gen. But for everyday tasks this 5th gen is hard to beat. Home button, headphone jack, nice portable size. And it is now going for bargain prices, usually $270 for a base model, $340 for a 256gb model. Even on deal, a 6th gen 64gb base model is $399.
yeah im definitely getting one, my ipad mini 4 is broken and im going to get this one. The mini 4 is amazing, so the mini 5 seems like it is going to be awesome, plus super exiting that it works with apple pencil (even though it costs $90) plus it actually has a 3.5mm headphone jack! unlike the stupid new iphones

I bought mine in the summer of 2021 for just $299. I have been using a second gen Mini 2 since 2914, and the 5th gen is obviously a big improvement, I use it with a blue tooth keyboard as a very portable lap top replacement. I Dr used to get a 5th gen even though I k we that the 6th gen was.being released. I like the large bezel because I find it easier to hold, and I really like the home button. It is Jay easier cor me to find and operate.

Bought this with an iPhone 7 Plus...The battery is still under 150 cycles...As I leave it plugged in most the time. Not sure how accurate that battery health meter is. As it says 104% on a full charge...
All in all. It fits my needs. Small form factor. Cellular across both Apple Products. Nice screen..

Edgar I’ve had the iPad Air 2, 10.5” iPad Pro, 11” iPad Pro and now the iPad mini. The mini has definitely add it to the top of my favorites list just by being more portable than the other iPads I’ve used. I still rely on my 11” but I reach for it a lot less often than I thought I would.
I have the iPad mini 5 and the iPhone Xs Max and believe me when I tell you, the iPad mini is at least twice as much screen as the iPhone. It's just a different aspect ratio. It's an awesome little tablet
Slick I think it’s great for COD mobile and tbh better than an iPad Pro even with the promotion display (I’m sure others would disagree). I haven’t seen the iPad mini under $400 usd but I also haven’t been looking very hard.

My review on having the iPad mini 5 generations for 2 years. I thought I like it at first but now I regretted it. I was following the crowd, how the publicity raise such a commotion that the iPhone is a must-have, how they were so great. I was not happy. Here is the list of what I don't like: 1. Unlike the vivo v15 pro or any Android smartphone or Sumsang Ipad mini, the iPad mini 5 generation does not have the navigation gestures back swipe from the left or the right, or back to the home screen, or open short center easy to use, the android, you need to only use one finger but the iPhone, iPhone made it so complicated, the use of three fingers, it's hard to use and it is annoying. 2. The iPad mini 5 generations are not play store compatible, everything you need to download costs. If I were to ask myself will I recommend this to anyone intending to buy it, if you are a person like me who wants to navigate through anything that I do quickly like going back, shortcut to the home screen, etc...you will go crazy? In conclusion, I will not purchase the iPhone mini 6 or any iPhone until iPhone will make it compatible with the Android play store-wise and the system navigation is easy to use.

I have the new one and I had iPads 2 and 4. I love this one.
I traded in my Mini 4 for the Mini 5. Adding in my $155 credit from my old MacBook Air, plus my university credit, and I got it for a sweet deal. It compliments my iPad Pro 11” (another sweet deal, BTW) rather well.
Hope apple create an ipad pro "mini" would increase the screen up to 9 inches and capabilities of the pro. Trifecta for the pro line up 9", 11" &. 12.9"

Sooo if you aren’t a TRUE gamer... and you are looking for an up grade to your really old iPad mini... I think 1st gen... I’m mainly streaming videos and maybe an occasional light game...
I see your fortnite lag 3+ times, 1 is obvious, screen flickers & a player glitches on ramp. Many games claim they can be played on older devices... 1 game claims it can use an 11 chip, then I’ll use a 12 chip & still lag. I’ve found top ram games need new gen. chip for no lag, 2nd new gen. chip for little to no lag, 3rd newest for small to medium lag.

I own the new mini 5 and the iPhone Xs Max and they both have good battery life but the mini is just a monster. I average 6 hours of screen on time with the iPhone Xs Max. With the mini 5 I'm averaging 11-12 hours of screen on time per charge. It will also stand by for about a week.

Apple should update their design (mini series), feels like I'm buying an iPad mini from 2013. Nothing exciting, new or somewhat eye catching. Well, it was, about 2 or 3 gens ago, but now, meh. Still keeping my iPad mini 3 (It's working fine, btw, just want something new to my eyes) over this. Shame, I've waited for this model and considered an upgrade, but got utterly disappointed.
Not gonna get anything like the new Pros in that small anytime soon. If Apple did it and raised the price cause those components cost more right now, people still wouldn't be happy.
