Hi thank you for these very educational and interesting videos l have been diagnosed as Spastic Dysarthia could you please point me in the direction of the most appropriate videos again many thanks
Hi @thornabyonteesyorks3643! Thanks for asking. Glad you’re seeking resources and education for yourself. Videos that target dysarthria, but are not specific to spastic type, include the multisyllabic word series in the adult speech/language playlist along with the Speak clearly: 4 exercises video. The oral motor exercise playlist involving stretching, along with the diaphragmatic breathing video may also be of interest. Let me know what you think!
@@SpeechSecrets thank you once more l do the tongue exercise video and feel that it already makes me feel better l am very grateful l used to sing in a band so the singing is also of great interest many thanks x
Hi I was born with a cleft palate- I didn’t receive speech therapy because they said I didn’t need it - I have struggled all my life my speech as a result I don’t like to speak to people because they said they don’t understand what I am saying-😢
I'm really sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve faced. It’s tough when the support you need isn’t available. Your experiences are valid and I know you are not alone. For those who can relate, comment below.
@@SpeechSecrets I suspect it may be sleep issues. not bad sleep just waking up at night and struggling to go back to sleep. the usual most people get. just may effect my speach I dunno
Many factor to consider, but with a pure apraxia an AAC is often helpful because the problem is less with language and more with speech production. However, if there is also aphasia present, which there often is, this will affect the ability to use language and impact AAC selection (such as icons, vs word).
@@SpeechSecretslooking forward to this! i was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis about a year ago and my speaking ability completely devolved. now, even though my symptoms are being managed, i seem to have some leftover muscle imbalance/weakness as well as difficulties with breath control. in other words you’ve finally given a name to my speech for me, so thank you!!
@froggyinmypasta Thanks for sharing your experience and story with the myasthenia gravis diagnosis. Wishing you the best in your speech journey and overall recovery. Glad you found this video to be useful for you!

This video created knowledge about different types of causes of speech issues.
That was my intention exactly ! Now just needing to make one about aphasia !
@@SpeechSecrets I am suffering from Aphasia since January 2023. I am 67 years of age. I was a speaker till July 2023.
There are 12 cranial nerves. We have to identify which are weak.
Yes, great point! A cranial nerve assessment is very helpful to pinpoint the pathology and for treatment planning.
My main issues are:
1. Every sound is Nasal
2. Swallowing
3. Smiling
4. I am not able to open my right eye when I put eye drops.
Thank you ma'am for this amazing video
You’re welcome! So glad you found this helpful!

What if you have every system problem with ataxic and slurred speech
Addressing each system individually may be helpful. Along with compensatory strategies to increase speech intelligibility.
yeah... i have suddenly got speach issues. mixed words and stutters all the time now
hey Snas, I’m sorry to hear that. I’d make sure to check in with your Dr on what might be causing a sudden change.

I got difficult to speech. Ma'am can you help me what type of doctors can help me out.
Speak with your doctor and consider seeing a speech therapist in your area!
