Shadow pro movement by occupying the same space as a pro.
Do you ever do this? Have the student put his arm inside yours?

as someone who is still relatively new to "trying to git gud" at table tennis, should i be focused more on rallies to get the ball over the net, or should I instead start early on the placement of my shots? What would you recommend as far as a good routine of things to practice early on?

I would go with basic strokes. Making them land and superprecise placement is overrated, that will come naturally 😁. Using the ball launcher helps with that because it doesn't matter if you miss so you can really focus on improving your strokes and body movement. In the game there's a quadrant game. The size of the quadrants is small enough to aim for. Check out the drills mentioned in the description. There's beginner, basic, advanced and now specific transition drills. As well as serve drills by solidslime. As understanding spin and how to work with it is the foundation of table tennis make sure to check out my previous video on Sidespin too if you have the chance. Also make sure to check out the massive amount of high quality RL table tennis channels keeping in mind that you can do things in VR and with the ball launcher that they could only dream of so your progress can be much faster and possible hurdles might be slightly different. Good luck! Make sure to join the discord for more healthy discussions about TT!

Great video ! It's obvious that you're a good real tennis table player. How do you record your video with these camera angles ?

You need to run a PC instance of the game, either via OculusPC or Steam

I'm not sure if you mean by setting it up manually yourself? Make sure to grab the drills you see here (and more in the future) by following this howto: th-cam.com/video/LmNNmQpLcyE/w-d-xo.html . You can always start from here to make your own or join us on discord (link in the description) for more advanced options.

would love to see you play a point closer to your actual playing style than "short-pipped racket pocket rocket" !

Once recording comes to the game playing against my strokes will be a piece of cake 🙂. The cool thing about these pocket rockets is how much of a basic stroke it is for Mima.
