Inside Paris' Iconic Shops: Galeries Lafayette & ETAM tour during the World Retail Congress

Rocking two private tours of France’s iconic brands, Galeries Lafayette & ETAM, was nothing short of epic!
Kicking off the World Retail Congress, we felt like we were skipping class for the coolest field trip ever. Imagine this: busloads of retail enthusiasts (myself included!) embarking on a grand adventure. Both tours were A+ experiences, thanks to the incredible efforts of Vincent's team at Galeries Lafayette and Jose Gomez's team at ETAM.
Ever wondered how it feels to dive deep into the history of not one, but TWO retail giants, each boasting over a century of retail dominance-all in a single day? Well, let me tell you, it’s like getting the most fascinating history lesson, but you’re not in a classroom-you’re there, seeing it in person!
We started by marveling at the architectural wonders that keep the history alive. Walking through these stores felt like navigating through living museums-relics of the golden age of retail.
And let’s talk about the Glass Walk (in Galeries Lafayette) as it's truly a piece of art! Walking the plank gave us a breathtaking view of the atrium roof (with full visibility above) and a clear shot showcasing multiple floors of luxury merchandise. Universities should take notes-this is how you teach architecture!
Ramping things up, Jose's (ETAM) team wowed us with their flagship store as well as their cutting-edge technology. Amazingly designed to not just meet but exceed customer expectations and boost sales without feeling salesy.
