    Have just got back to 🇦🇺 from 🇫🇷. I loved my France visit. Galeries Lafayette is my favourite department store. Have visited about 5 times now. Brought back Guerlain perfume and my daughter loves it. My handshake goes out to the lovely ladies on the Guerlain counter. Thx for reminding me of this wonderful visit. 😊

    I can’t wait to be there. I love what has been done in ter of renovation. Galeries Lafayette to me is a must and this year we added le bon marché. Which incidentally means « the good deal ». My mom never shopped there. All very expensive. Quels beaux magasins . Merci pour une autre belle vidéo. 🇫🇷 🇺🇸

    They opened a Printemps in Denver right after the late 80s oil bust. It was gorgeous but missed the mark by a year. I was so sorry to see it close almost immediately

    • @paristoptips

      Yes, they opened Printemps shops in quite a few countries then. Now there is only one left out of France, in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

    I still have the pair of wool socks that I bought from Printemps in 2001. Yes, I was stuck in Paris during 9/11 because the flights were grounded. It was getting cold, so I went in and got the socks. I wish I knew about the grand epicerie at Bon Marche when I was last there in summer 2019. We stumbled upon the store after getting caramels at Jaques Genin.

    I’m looking forward to visiting Le Samaritan again. Was last there about 30 years ago. If I remember correctly, I think they had an observation deck overlooking the city.
    Great, in-depth video as I love Printemps & Galleries!

    • @paristoptips
      @paristoptips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      30 years ago, it was a very different Samaritaine than it is today.
      And the place where the observation deck was is no longer part of La Samaritaine, but of the 5-star hotel - Cheval Blanc - that they built here on the Seine...

    I didn't realize Printemps had that little food court. Thanks! I usually visit the one at Galeries Lafayette. I have to say, I was overwhelmed by the high prices at Bon Marche--clearly priced for that neighborhood. I've always felt G.L. was the most reasonably priced (although I only buy clothes at C&A, which is really cheap!)

    Fantastic. How do these places stay in business? I also noticed very few women wearing high heels, even the well groomed women working at these stores. The days of wearing high heels all day long are quickly disappearing; they are now worn only for special occasions.
