clay tiles will work in an exterior application with rain and snow ? I had the impression that Porcelain tiles were superior to ceramic ? I only want to do a job like this once. The current tiles, done by someone else, popped off, cracked and some lifted. It's a mess.

I have a front porch that is pitched back towards the house. Would I be able to use mortar and outdoor tile to pitch the porch away from the house without having to worry about water seeping through and pooling at base of house
Is there a premixed thin set for exterior tiles?
My google searches all bring up bagged mixes, but it would be much easier if it were pre-mixed. Any recommendations?

what part of the country did you do this job at can this be done in the north east of the USA
I have vynil siding on my house. Can I just butt the tile up to the channel at the bottom of the siding or would it need to go underneath?
However you do it, make sure you leave at least 1/8-1/4" between the tile and whatever surface you are butting up to for expansion
Wait, I missed the whole grout concept, you used one type first, then an epoxy grout?
Back butter or lateral slide the tile to fully cover the back of the tile with the thin set. I always saw guys later slide the tile into place for this. hmmm

Could you use Ditra XL instead of the roll on anti-fracture membrane?
I don't believe ditra is rated for exterior

I’ll give you a link to the page which states this: DITRA and DITRA-XL provide reliable waterproofing in interior and exterior applications. Its polyethylene composition protects the substrate from moisture penetration, which is particularly important in today’s building environment where most substrates are moisture-sensitive.

This will be our first project together. Especially when we are advised that it’s $5,000 to tile our front porch. So we figure we are going to try it ourselves. It currently has carpet. Yucky
