You're right that this storm is not being accurately reported AND I'm thinking that YT is shadow banning some vids also. I'm seeing very little on Eastern TN which is where I am. I have not been out to the eastern side of my county which is where the Nolichucky River is and from the little bit I'd heard from daily updates from our local mayor and water company, was that anyone along that river suffered total devastation. Our water was out for 6 days because our county lines ran under the river. Kudos to the workers that got new lines run and lifted the boil water advisory a few days later. Thank goodness our power stayed on but we were prepared in case it went out.

I found your channel because of Hurricane Helene and you give a lot of great information!! Thank you for doing what you do & all the coverage you have given on this devastating situation!
Good morning from Australia. This is the first time I’ve seen your posts. Remarkable footage of your troubles… it is just mind boggling to see such devastation. Thankyou thank you for sharing your experiences and what you found useful (and some links) under such circumstances. Wishing you blessings and healing. Big love and prayers from Australia.
Yes, they told us in Florida. The heaviest of the hurricane would come late in the night while we were asleep. Next thing we knew it was hitting around 6:30 to 7 PM. I’m surprised you still have your plants.
Thank you for the clear back story and video of the days preceding, I've heard that the areas had a lot of rain, but until your story I didn't conceive that meant flooding already and town buildings being evacuated. Thank you for this entire video though! Bri mentioned you in a Reel or video and I was glad to have already begun to get to know you through Helene videos. I'm so sorry for the losses and grief you are experiencing. Very Sincerely, Laural from CT
Another important video Steff thank you for sharing. Your cleverness with preparation is a wonderful tool for many. My heart goes out to you and your community. From the outside looking in we cannot begin to imagine the pain of those who have lost loved ones and everything they own. The devastation from SC, KY, TN , NC, GA to Florida will take years to recover. It's very important for all of us to prepare as due these storms many supply chains are beginning to dwindle. Sending a hug and Prayers ❤
The preparing is so crucial. So many had no plan and were out of resources by day 3. Our world has made us vulnerable for sure. Thanks for your kind words!
Also Southwest Virginia. Everyone keeps forgetting about us. My county alone displaced 48 families. Yes, the governor has been here (and we very much appreciated his visit), but that is it. Unless you had insurance most have nothing and many of these people with insurance don't seem positive that the insurances will help. You are right, this will set back our region and states affected for many many years. I don't know what some of these people will do.
Thankyou Stephanie 🙏 i appreciate your contribution and sharing - bless. As usual full of practical and essential wisdom. Its so heartening to hear how you and your community are rising from the ashes. Strength to Y'all ✊️❤
Great to see and hear the details of how you did things to get through this situation. Thanking God for is love and care for you and the way he has been using you to touch your world with his love.
I would have to scramble to get my preps together. Thanks for the reminder to have them ready and also for new ideas that I didn't know about like the radio. I've had 2 homes in different states devastated by tornadoes and 2 major events from ice storms. Each event taught me different things and I'm always looking for new ideas. You're a good teacher and I appreciate you 👍
I love Lake Laura. I used to drive all through there looking at property planning on moving there one day oh, I love that place.😢 Boy, you had a great attitude through this and I know you’re not over yet. Thank you for sharing this.❤
First and foremost, I'm glad that you survived! I stumbled upon you by accident and found your way of living and preparedness right up my ally, but I could always do better, and could learn a lot form you. --I subscribed and hit the bell. May God Bless all who're impacted by this horrific storm.
Thank you for posting this video. May I ask - do you guys have a HAM license or do you have it only for listening? That's what I'm trying to figure out, if I need a license to have the radio or only to use it. Thank you. You've inspired me to be prepared for more things.
HAM needs license but in emergencies like this you are allowed to use it without a license. Its simple to get though! And you can do gmrs as well. There is plenty of options. If you need help I have resources for you. Don't mind sharing the knowledge. We have our license here in NC. But in this situations when it was bad you can use for help and calling out. Just not on a daily regular basis.
@@thatcrazychickenI have been looking into GMRS for a while and think it's the best option. Tonight, my mom just ordered two hand helds with repeaters and I know we have a big repeater in our area but I have no idea how to program or use them so any resource will be very very helpful. Please share!
We don’t have a license. I don’t see the need. In a real emergency you can radio in and no one cares. All day long people without licenses were radioing in for wellness check requests. They had “open hours”.
As a ham operator I would advise anyone to go ahead and get their basic Tech licence then you can legally transmit in real emergencies , get to know other hams , pass on life - saving information to others and keep your family and community informed and AWARE , KD9MGZ
You are so appreciated right now I am learning and a of things that I knew from the past somewhere. There are so many tricks and tips that you have given like what is best bedding and clothing options to have to wear. There are many things I am learning and it heart crushing how the elite does not care about our history to be kept and cherished.
Excellent ideas I gathered from your video are the car inverter (I have one for road trips, but didn't have it on my list as an energy option), a large trashcan with hand pump/siphon to collect water, and the notebook for journaling. We live in the hurricane zone as well and 48 families were displaced. We were higher on the mountain so wasn't affected except down trees and tossed outdoor furniture, pots, items, etc. I considered us well prepared for emergencies, until this hurricane and the previous storms came thru. I am finding all kinds of gaps. Thank you for your channel, wisdom, and listed resources to help!
@@theaeroponictowerchannel Yes, we have a few old and some new oil lamps, too. I probably need more lamp oil. My main goal now is to get recipes for items I buy at the store like ranch dressing mix, canning ketchup, hoe to make mustard, etc. One forgets how we rely on commercial brands of some items in the store. I also think gas and diesel will be a problem and not sure how I can plan for that.
My thought from the beginning and always has been, why didn’t the move folks that Thursday? If I understand your video, the French Broad was already at flood stage on Thursday afternoon. If I am incorrect, please correct me. My heart belongs to my NC mountains. My heart goes out to all. 🙏💗🇺🇸🙏
This is a good plug for ham radio. It's pretty easy to get an amateur radio license. You have to know a few things and study for a test. Local clubs should be pushing for this. Also, in an emergency, you don't have to have a license to use those channels if you have access to a radio.
Yeah, the no cell thing really opened my eyes to the need for the Ham for information. It wouldn’t take much to harm this country honestly. Take the power, water and cell and people just aren’t prepared to survive long. They were calling 911 by day 3 for food.
We live in South Georgia and North Florida where Stephanie used to live. We're used to hurricanes. The damage in FL was normal. WE WERE IN SALUDA for Prepper Camp when this went through. HA HA. The irony. The wind was like a tornado. HUGE trees were falling all over. Missed us thank God. Thursday when we were in Hendersonville, the place was already flooded. We got provisions (I brought a ton of freeze dried food) and gassed up the car. Anyway, I could not believe the storm's power this far inland. YOU'RE RIGHT, it's very strange!
Oh, and when we got back to South GA where the storm was "stronger", we had a branch or two down. A thing I left leaning against a tree fell over. Silly. It was nothing and we were on the strong side of the storm. I seems to have gotten stronger as it went north.

Thanks for walking us through the events of those first few days. I have a question. You mentioned you primed your Berkey. Do you only use it in emergency situations? I just purchased a small one and I use it day to day. But with filters being hard to come by, I’ve been thinking about shutting it down and storing for emergency. Just wondering if that’s how you use yours. Thanks!

Glad to see y'all are doing better 👍 I love your little home lantern and walkie talkie. We have had ours. For awhile. Hopefully they only collect dust. But you never know living in tornado Alley. Jesus loves everyone in north Carolina & everywhere of course.
I spent years driving through that area, picking up at banks and stores. Years driving those roads, seeing those communities. And I can't recognize a thing. It reminds me of one of those war movies where everything between the trenches was just chewed up. Down here in SC, I got to spend 8 days without electricity. I agree with using candles and lamps 100%. Feuerhand makes the best hurricane lanterns today, and thankfully they are still making them in an allied nation, Germany, rather than like the other brands who now support china. They are durable and very high quality compared to the other lanterns you'll see on the market. When I lost power here, I had no idea anything really bad was going on. When I woke up..... well, the world had changed! I didn't have a lot of damage, thank God, but it was driving around town that showed the true level of devastation. Again, back to my lamps and lanterns. I burned some small candles when the night settled in, but they were pretty worthless, honestly. Nice because they came in a shot glass that protected against bumps, but really only enough light to fill out a shadow. Not bad, by any means, and glad to have them, but the oil lamps are what truly shined. Every thing I own that ran on regular batteries.... dead. Even the one Coleman lantern that was NIB, just sitting in the pantry waiting for the next power outage.... dead because it was missing a spring in the battery compartment. Never even opened it to check, and that bit me in the butt. Those lanterns, though, they'd been sitting for a year or more without being used, and yet still worked perfectly. That's what really clued me in on the pitfalls of relying on modern tech. Sure, my gas-fired water heater worked and I had nice long hot showers to kill time, but my gas stove didn't work because it had a "failsafe" to prevent it lighting if there was no electricity. Why? No idea. I couldn't use a single burner to cook a meal. What I missed, really, was something to occupy my mind. No friends or family because I have built a solitary life, and that really hit home when I didn't have the internet to engage with. Days spent sitting on the front porch, and not a soul came by to check on me. My doing, sure, but still an eye-opener. Community is something you have to work at. You have to be involved or folks will forget you exist in a heartbeat. My oil lamps.... well, I just bought another one. Got a vintage Meva this time because I was curious about them. Minty fresh, but nowhere near the quality of a Feuerhand lantern. Good brightness and a pretty white color that brightens the room even when it's not burning, so that's a win. Get ye some lanterns, folks. The old ways are the best ways because you know they work. Relying on modern tech will only lead you to problems.
Stephanie, thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience from this horrible storm. I really enjoy watching your videos because you are showing us how to live and sustain ourselves. Question 🙋♀️ where did you get your wall sconces with the round silver background? I want a few of them
NOTE: Glass can break when burning candles in them. Our glass candle busted and floated to the bed mattress when no one was in there and we had a fire. We did get it out quickly because we had many fire alarms up to date and when the closest one went off , the entire family ran for water n put it out. Lesson: Even glass when burning candles cannot be trusted. Watch them closely. If they get hot, blow them out and allow them to cool n when they get low, only use them in the same room you are in. Just in case. 😊❤
Yes. We are keeping 40 gallons now. Gas was out by day 2 and stations didn’t take credit cards until day 9 or 10. I’m getting a solar back up generator for my towers.
It’s a good time to be prepared, for sure! I have built very slowly over time and it made a huge difference. I honestly felt totally ready to go for months aside from water. I have a video on water coming up soon.
@@theaeroponictowerchannel Thank you! Definitely needed! Would like a well but we are at least 100’ before safe drinking water levels here 😣 but live in NW Florida so water is most important! We do have rivers close and a well across the highway but depending on how many trees are down to get there is another what if! Then what’s in the river is another question after a storm 🤔 so thinking rain water containers but we either have storms to have rain or no rain! 🤦🏻♀️ So a well might be more practical in the long run.
@@karensmith1832 Many of your preps will be useless in a storm like this. We had sewer plants compromised. Septic fields and tanks and porta-potties floating downstream. Gas and oil cans, herbicide and pesticide bottles floating. Cars turned over with gas tanks punctured from trees. And, these are just a few things I saw in the river. It made me sick to think we were reduced to drinking this. So, please, don't trust the river or a stream.

Thankyou thank you for sharing your experiences and what you found useful (and some links) under such circumstances. Wishing you blessings and healing. Big love and prayers from Australia.
Thank you for your kind words and prayers. I appreciate you being here!
First time seeing your channel- so sorry for your loss of your town 😢. Praying that God helps to meet your needs. So many people got trapped. 🙏
I've lived in this area my entire life and I've never seen anything like this. So glad you are ok.
Yes, they told us in Florida. The heaviest of the hurricane would come late in the night while we were asleep. Next thing we knew it was hitting around 6:30 to 7 PM. I’m surprised you still have your plants.
Good luck from Bristol UK ❤
My prayers are with you and your friends and family ❤🙏🙏
Thank you for the clear back story and video of the days preceding, I've heard that the areas had a lot of rain, but until your story I didn't conceive that meant flooding already and town buildings being evacuated.
Thank you for this entire video though! Bri mentioned you in a Reel or video and I was glad to have already begun to get to know you through Helene videos. I'm so sorry for the losses and grief you are experiencing. Very Sincerely, Laural from CT
I’m glad you found me! Bri is amazing.
Strength to Y'all ✊️❤
Thank you for your updates.. watching from the UK, and sending love. Xx
Thank you for sharing. It’s been heartbreaking to see all of these people suffering. Many prayers are being said
Great prepping ideas.
I am learning so much. I pray for you and the many impacted.
You're a good teacher and I appreciate you 👍
I am glad this video gave you some new ideas!
I love Lake Laura. I used to drive all through there looking at property planning on moving there one day oh, I love that place.😢
Boy, you had a great attitude through this and I know you’re not over yet. Thank you for sharing this.❤
You won’t recognize it now sadly. All of chimney rock is gone. Roads included.
First and foremost, I'm glad that you survived!
I stumbled upon you by accident and found your way of living and preparedness right up my ally, but I could always do better, and could learn a lot form you. --I subscribed and hit the bell.
May God Bless all who're impacted by this horrific storm.
Welcome!! I'm glad you found me.
And you don't need a license to buy one or monitor any frequency.@@thatcrazychickenOther than that your comment is spot on.
Hi from pueblo Colorado my prayers are with you all everyday.
Thank you!!
So many heartbreaking stories. Praying for all these areas and all the people being affected.
Yes, our gap was water so we are focused on a solution for that now. I really found oil lamps helpful too so I have stocked up a ton of lamp oil.
This video was incredibly good! You are to be commended in documenting the N Carolina story of preparedness and survival. Thank you, from WA state!
Thank you!
God bless everyone affected by this nightmare
I'm so glad I found your channel , you are a wealth of info and that is appreciated ❤ # God's Army ❤
He had it set up for a good day. I bet it's beautiful up there too.
Thank you for this video. Your home is absolutely beautiful.
Thank you, it's our happy place!
You break my heart with every video. I am learning from you.
Thank you, I'm glad you're learning and taking action!
May Jesus bless you and keep you and your family. Much love 💖✝️
100 MPH winds from a hurricane that far inland, kinda make ya wonder what's really going on.
Yep….
@@Whaaat2008 You were at prepper camp?!! We got the biggest kick out of this happening during prepper camp. We were joking it was like a preppers dream....not really....but really....lol. I'm glad you were safe. Shoot me a pm next time you are out this way!!
@@Whaaat2008 Yeah, there are lots of not normal things about this situation.
Just found you. I follow several people in NC and TN because the MSM are not reporting on this. I think you may have information that I may need or rather could use. Your home is beautiful. I forgot to tell you I live in NW Georgia. So I have dedicated myself to keep yall in the news.
I cannot believe there are people and animals on that bridge.😪
I agree with u on your prepping !! Great job ! I'm hearing that the water is toxic and killing people !! Glad your water is still usable
Madison High School class of '92 here, got yourself a sub!
Your dust bunnies look like mine!!! I heat with 2 wood stoves and the dust bunnies have a life of their own!!!!
Thank you Stephanie!
So glad you circled back to all your family and community has dealt with in Marshall. I continue to Pray for all those affected by Hurricane Helene. Just seeing it is incredible and heart breaking....Pray for your family Stephanie....
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for documenting this. I love your decorations and lifestyle. It was a dream of mine so now I live precarious though you ..
I've ordered 2 sprouting jars. Thank you for talking about them on a previous post.
I'm excited for you! I share a lot of stories on Instagram about them if you want daily tips! It's @theaeroponictowerchannel
God Bless You and Your Family and Your Friends. Your Family are all definitely "Good and Faithrul Soldiers of GOD". I am learning a lot from you with this video of how we all need to be inspired and motivated to be better prepared for what LIFE throws at us. AMEN
IN GOD WE TRUST
Thanks for walking us through the events of those first few days. I have a question. You mentioned you primed your Berkey. Do you only use it in emergency situations? I just purchased a small one and I use it day to day. But with filters being hard to come by, I’ve been thinking about shutting it down and storing for emergency. Just wondering if that’s how you use yours. Thanks!
I do only use it for emergencies. I’m sharing some other filtration options in a video next week for daily use. I also keep back up filters for mine.
thank you, greetings from Poland
Thank you for sharing all this with us!! Hugs!!
I just went to the links you share with us. I had a lot but was missing a few things. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your knowledge and the links. I subscribe to your channel and share your channel with everyone.

Saw you are a knitter, so you know about fibers. Such a heart ache! Prayers. This video diary is very important. Thank you. G-d bless you. Hand to hand, people are stepping forward. People and animals: rescue dogs, mules horses. So, so, so-rry. Be careful. BTW, What’s your name? Mary. From Mary Land. ❤
Love, love, love your house! I'm with you regarding nik naks, they better serve a purpose. Glad you had preps. Thanks for the ham radio link!
Thank you! Yeah, no one has time for nik naks these days! We need to get our priorities in order as a people.
I need to know what's in the pot! It looks delicious!
That food you made looks delicious! What all did you put in it? I’ve switched back to a plant based food. I’d love to have your juice recipe too!
That was boiled wheat berries, parsley from my towers, fermented cabbage, pine nuts, Kalamata olives, olive oil and lemon. I have a similar recipe in my free recipe book here. For the juice I just do cucumber and greens and herbs from my towers. I try to put 15 different greens/herbs per batch for maximum micronutrients. I then add apple, lemon with peel and ginger to taste. stan.store/Theaeroponictowerchannel
Thanks so much for sharing your valuable information with us!! You are a blessing to so many!!❤ I would like to ask a favor of you. If we wanted to send Thanksgiving meal items (cooks too) 😊 and wanted to send Christmas gifts, ornaments, stockings, etc., for children and families in the area, is there a person who could get us a list of families, children sizes, ages, so we could know they were really getting to those who need them? We are in SC and have sent items with three groups at different times, but we are just "guessing" at what is needed, sizes, etc. I would greatly appreciate any contact(s) you could direct my way so I can share with the groups here for the upcoming holidays...and as needed for future items as well. THANK YOU!! Sending much love ya'lls way!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Yes!! My church wants to do a Christmas blessing and would love to do Thanksgiving blessings. Send them an email and tell them we are social friends. Here is a link. Hello, thank you for this compilation. Been watching for a while from Texas. Where do you get bulk seeds for sprouts?
Hi! I get them at azure and true leaf. There is an azure link in the video description.
@@theaeroponictowerchannel awesome, thank you! I have some friends up there I served with. All of y'all have been so motivating to me. They are also, like you, pretty self sufficient and, well thankfully survived and able to also serve their community where they can. I am a disabled Veteran and man have I been battling to garden here in Texas especially the past few years.. You really inspired me to take a breather, work smarter, not harder and I am building some towers myself right now. I don't have much money and I also decided to go ahead and get a neck fusion I have been putting off a long time. I've been following you for the last few weeks. By you telling your story, it is definitely helping my husband and I discuss possible holes in our preps. I would like to ask you where you found your ham radio suggestions. I see quite a few options on Amazon but overwhelmed with all the options
Hi! I put the link to our exact one in the video description. We use a Ham and a Short wave. Both were very important.

Thank you for the ham radio info and ur documentary.... appreciate before/after photos. Great info.all around. Southeast Florida here .🙏💗🪄🙏
Thank you for sharing this profound video. WOW!
Will you share your beautiful recipe with the peas, parsley, and more?
Thanks for the update!! ❤
Interesting and informative and easy to follow. Very happy for you and your family!
Properly prepared, we can survive almost anything.
I'm seeing your video for the first time my het and prayers are with you
Stephanie, thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience from this horrible storm. I really enjoy watching your videos because you are showing us how to live and sustain ourselves. Question 🙋♀️ where did you get your wall sconces with the round silver background? I want a few of them
Great tips for preparedness! Do you have a well on your property?
We do. A deep well pump is being ordered asap. I found a really good manual one.
Thx for great wisdom and tips
NOTE: Glass can break when burning candles in them. Our glass candle busted and floated to the bed mattress when no one was in there and we had a fire. We did get it out quickly because we had many fire alarms up to date and when the closest one went off , the entire family ran for water n put it out.
Lesson: Even glass when burning candles cannot be trusted. Watch them closely. If they get hot, blow them out and allow them to cool n when they get low, only use them in the same room you are in. Just in case. 😊❤
You're so amazing. Thank you for sharing 😊.
Prep gas also, whatever your generator takes
Yes. We are keeping 40 gallons now. Gas was out by day 2 and stations didn’t take credit cards until day 9 or 10. I’m getting a solar back up generator for my towers.
I am working on getting more supplies 🤞
So a well might be more practical in the long run.
@@ChrisCalmtheCrazy Thank you and sorry very sorry for any losses you have experienced 🙏 But life is a lesson so learn!! Wells are exspensive 😮
My grandparents had a well and an out house! 😂 I am very basic but clean water is everything! Yes I have tables, bleach, Iodine but watching those rivers 😣😮🥲
Don’t know if what I have will clean the water good enough? 🤔
