Yeah you can never replace a person who was a huge part of your life but died and especially if it's someone like Michael Hutch but JD was a very good addition to the band..so sad that they didn't see him as a great singer.
Thanks so much for uploading this! I’m in the minority but I love JD and thought he was absolutely the right choice. Don’t Change is one of my favourite songs ever by anybody and I just wasn’t feeling Marty singing it. JD doing What You Need just seemed more natural. NOBODY can EVER replace Michael Hutchence but for the band to carry on JD was the right choice. If you close your eyes during his performance you could almost think it was Michael. Too bad the album with JD was average and a shame JD’s demons got the best of him. Thanks again for uploading this! 🇨🇦
I'm a massive INXS fan here in the UK. Watched this series via download and JD was the obvious choice from episode 2. Yeah he had a big ego but he was riveting to watch and has got raw talent. I was happy with the choice and had a fantastic time watching the 'new' INXS live a couple of times with him as the front man. Yeah, he's no Michael. But no-one ever would be. I can't believe any fan of the band would think their collection would be better without a copy of SWITCH in it. I love that album!
Damn you, lol!!! I've been cracking out watching this!!! Lol!!! Now I see you uploaded Supernova!? I loved these shows and thought I'd never see them again! Thank you!!!
Jordis was on the voice not long ago, I think she got to the semi finals and now releasing her own album. Marty is with the love hammers, he's doing really well. JD I believe isn't doing so well. INXS ditched him as soon as their tour had finished. I had the pleasure of meeting Mig not to long ago. He was performing in London Michael Jackson thriller, he was the nicest guy! and we went for drinks afterwards, he still has the six pack going haha.
What they did not tell JD was the contract was just for the tour and they might have picked him up latter. He make the mistake of thinking he was going to be part of the band.
Maybe JD will get back together with INXS. He’s more mature now. I read in an interview he did last year that he was going to Australia and touring and hoping to meet up with some of the band. His voice was a perfect fit for them.
You never know but the chances would have been lessened by Tim's boating accident. Would they want to make new music and tour with a replacement guitarist with Tim not being able to play much? I know they went on without Michael but would they be okay playing together and calling themselves INXS with Tim having no role or a largely reduced role (on top of not having Michael)? That would be pretty sad. Then again it's pretty sad that INXS seems to be finished forever too.
He went to my high school. Graduated one year before I got there. But was friends with a lot of same people and partied with him. Have seen him play live a ton, him and the love hammers are all stand up dudes.
loved this show. saw JD and INXS in new zealand in 2006 - was amazing. he was definitely the right choice for the band - pity it didnt work out. still love marty too :)
At least it worked out short term and they made a kickass comeback album and tour. I wasn't really a fan of INXS until this show when I watched it back in 2005.
When I started rewatching the INXS season on here, I remembered JD being a jerk. But he wasn't really that bad (it seemed more like his comments kept getting blown up for drama) and I liked his vocals. It's sad how it turned out afterwards.
Wow, all these years later and I still feel J.D. was the right fit for the band. Yes, Marty was undeniably talented but not the right fit for the band. MiG was a fantastic stage performer, more theatrical than rock star to me, and others were awesome but not the best fit for INXS. No one was ever going to replace Michael Hutchence, not possible, but the musical vibe was mostly closely suited with J.D. -too bad it didn't work out for longer. Perhaps a little too much like Hutch in the end with his personal demons.
Cyberbronco having Marty singing for INXS would have been like Eddie Vedder singing in NSYNC. It doesn’t fit at all. Marty is a super talented guy but he needed to do his own thing. INXS was not looking to change things up that dramatically. They had a signature sound and JD fit best with that sound. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out but if we’re being real, if you knew anything about INXS prior to this show then you know it was definitely even less likely to work with Marty. It would have just been really bizarre for a post-grunge, hard rock singer to sing in a pop-rock band.
@@cindyhunter2438 True that song is not one of the top ones (not a fav for me either) but it is a common one they always played live and Marty actually did quite well with it
johanna mix. I agree! These bands who try to replace the irreplaceable are just COVER bands. Journey without Steve Perry is another example. Start your own band, leave it alone.
There's a video about how the production of Rockstar was blown out of proportion to create more drama. How the band didn't care for that part. JD was right for the band and did a great job. No one can replace Michael, however the music shouldn't be forgotten. And fame can be a cruel mistress. Stuff happens. Perhaps this coming decade we'll see more of INXS and JD. Time heals all wounds. I would pay to see them again and again. @inxs
I love the band with JD. Unfortunately, I don't think they will be back since beyond all the well publicized issues, Tim was in a terrible accudent & lost a finger. Not sure how 1 can play guitar after that but ya never know. I wish them all the best.
The talent on this show was massive. I really didn’t care for JD, but the band made their choice and that’s fine. I’m glad Ty was able to find success with Vintage Trouble, Susie McNeil kept things going strong for herself. I would have loved to see Jordis release more music, haven’t heard much from her.
JD was the right one for INXS and they liked his cockiness. The thing I remember and love about this series was how truly professional and kind everyone was. Even those competing against one another still gave eachother props and compliments. Then they pick JD as the winner but they tell Marty he was so great that they want him and his band to open for them on their new tour! This show was awesome compared to the Katy Perry Simon Cowell BS today.
I know people who haven't seen the show don't get what a big deal it is lol. Ty is pretty awesome, I think I prefer his stuff now to what he was going on rockstar INXS
Me acuerdo cuando ví este reallity, dije wooow, las voces de las mujeres son increíbles. Recordé eso hoy y estoy viendo. Realmente un programa distinto. Hasta la actitud de la gente es distinta. Perfect gentlemen like this in this millenium are almost imposible to find GOD BLESS J D Fortune
Pretty much exactly how I feel. INXS felt more focused since they were auditioning for an established group. Supernova felt all over the place since it was just a handful of people assembled to make a new group. Not like they could sing a Supernova track during eliminations. But they did have some stand out singers. Shame INXS and JD wound up breaking up though.
WOW!!! What a fabulous competition!!! It is unsurpassed!! The variety--the talent--- the brilliance!!!! It was so exciting when I watched it for the first time--- and now, having enjoyed it 5xs----WOW!!!! J.D. was the sure winner from the start-- (my opinion)---and the reason i think this, is because his voice/style etc meshed so well with INXS. However---- the fabulous talent!!! I LOVED Suzie, And Ty (I cried when he was eliminated!), Heather----Woweee, girl!!, Jesssica!! What a fighter!! Such a GREAT competietion!!!! But J.D. had it from the start!! I loved Mig! What a professional!! And such a decent guy!! Yummy!!! Marty---sorry, dude---I was never a fan, although I thought you were REALLY cute. Trees?? I have followed the careers of my personal favorites. I love you--J.D._--you can do it!!! I am standing with you-- rooting for you!!! And INXS---thank you SO MUCH for your amazing music!!!! I love you all!!! PS. I saw you perform with J.D. in Vancouver--and was blown away!!! Thank you for the memory!!!
I disagree with most of the comments below, if only because of personal experience with Marty. When he came to the Corel Center to open for INXS with JD as the frontman, he was a huge pompous asshole. Trashing rooms, making a mess out of everything. He looks too much like Michael in my opinion, which may ALSO play a role in why they wouldnt choose him. Just my personal experience and opinion. Both would've been amazing frontmen for the band, but only J.D. brought the proper attitude to the table.
I wonder why Marty acted like that. I got to see him and the Lovehammers perform a few years ago at a casino not too far from my house. After the show I got to meet him and he was really, really nice. But on that note I'm actually really happy that he didn't win.
cheers for the uploads! so good watching it again. I too am from the UK and had no one to take about this with. well now that ive rewatched inxs, onto supernova! anyone have any idea what the singers are doing with themselves these days?
Even watching this show there was really no doubt they were going to pick JD esp after the song writing clinic, INXS wanted that song and it was JDs, plus he was the only one of the group that could sing the old songs like michael hutchence. Mary was way too grunge and not enough pop and Suzi was a great singer but she would have lost the sexual appeal of this band for women, and Mig was too queen like. Its too bad JD couldnt keep it together, he had it made.
I feel that was the problem they were looking for another Michael, JD was too high maintenance and a terrible cocaine habit, very sad to see such young talent and opportunity wasted, sad 😔
I think there was something very passive aggressive in the way Dave yelled out "SWEET Susie McNeil" (she had alluded to not liking the nickname in an earlier episode and he had said he wouldn't use it anymore). The way he looks down afterward too is kinda unnerving. Kinda funny too! That said, he looked genuinely bummed when they eliminated her.
I especially love how they gave Marty the opportunity to still perform and I always say to anyone who comes close to the finals usually they make it big as well
THANK YOU so much for posting these! I used to LOVE JD and after several years of my own growth and changes in musical tastes I can see so clearly what a player and a train wreck he was destined to become...sad. Marty was clearly a focused and disciplined talent with tons of creativity. Suzie was really amazing...she deserves more! Wish soooo badly there were shows like this still on...the other music shows are so Karaoke-esque!
cheers, i actually seen mig in we will rock you at the start of june, i got all excited about him and my friend was like "wtf are you talking about!" im gonna have to look up ty now, im curious!
Suzies was "good", but really his voice just fell flat in the song a few times which is surprising given his past. Also, an INXS song would have been better :)
Thanks again for that, aside from seeing the episodes I missed with Katrina it was fun to rewatch the series. Might need to check out Supernova again next.
Que terrible lo que hacen las drogas... JD fue sin duda el mejor rockstar posible para INXS, y tuvo la posibilidad de brillar en lo más alto.... y por sus adicciones lo perdió todo. INXS se terminó deshaciendo de él...
You might want to check out the latest cd from Lovehammers - Set Fire. Most of the songs are up on TH-cam. And they just uploaded a live video to their new single - Price I Pay. Check it out.
I was never a fan of lukas, he had his moments but not for me. If dilana wasnt in the series I don't know whether I would have bothered. Rewatching it for me, it is SO obviously they had picked lukas from the start. Whenever anyone mentioned "winner" they would show lukas and he would have dramatic moments in the mansion, like singing creep alone with a guitar under a spotlight. Noone else got that. I never heard anything about that. I'm from the UK so i don't even know anyone who watched it
@@cannacliffords7462 Or Jordis. Whatever happened to her? Yeah she choked but DAMN was she a great voice and sexy ass woman. ( And I am saying this as a straight woman)!
I still think JD was a better singer and performer than Marty but they do have different styles. I do agree that JD did give INXS what they were looking for where as with Marty (and others) they were being themselves. JD just clones to what ever he is doing, like when he was doing the Elvis thing. I did buy martys album that came out after the show and it was pretty decent. If you never got it I would recommend it.
Jd did a stand up Clone job I've seen many "classic rock" bands U know it's all studio Producers , engineers , synthetics So... when I hear a natural talent being able to replicate that sound, that normally costs $250,000 a track , a "hit single" jd deserved it Do we judge our new age rock stars nowadays ?? Pretty sure "being a rockstar "was something inxs was all about.. let alone any other band... don't hate Jd you are incredible!!
I was on a rockstar message board back when that show was on and everyone would comment how Tommy always gave Lukas a tongue bath every time Luckas did well. He was always the guy from the start, I agree. D would have been a good pick but watching some of those, even though he was a dick, Magus seemed to have the best voice for the band IMO. The funny thing is Jordas was on the voice and got chairs to turn around. Luckas was too and was not even show on tv
haha tongue bath made me laugh lol. I knew jordis was on, good to see her again. Had no idea Lukas was on! well thats just embarsssing lol. It is weird to see what people have done well and who hasn't. Just look at Ty Tyler and he came 6th
JD definitely fit the karaoke role - sounded the most like MH. Still would have preferred Suzie, 'cause she would have made it a NEW band. She's currently on tour with Aerosmith. Where's JD?
Agree, I liked TTD and how he performed with INXS, but I guess appearance is also part of the whole package, and he looks/looked very different from the INXS guys.
I wanted Mig to be the singer for INXS, I wanted JD to work in local bars, and assumed Suzi and Marty would have a couple of kids and be relevant in the music industry. (when I watched this on tv how ever many years ago that was) Honestly, still amazed that it didn't work out that way. I still can't see anything good about JD. I despise "pretty vegas" or whatever. I despised it when I first watched it and couldn't believe anyone actually enjoyed the song. (I still have the same opinion) Had this show happened five years later, everyone on the show would be far more relevant then they are now. (that's actually really sad) Honey Boo Boo is still a recognizable name.............nothing from this show ever made it in any way I imagined when I was watching it live. =*(
+Erlyk Dalkien I have thoughts on what I had hoped would happen to many of the lower tier (by elimination standards) too. No publicity at all as far as I could tell for anyone. They were all literally kicked to the curb and back to where they started. Some did good, nothing on the level I thought they would. Most were also far more deserving then 98% of the "big time" singers around today. Basically..........this show, as great as I thought it was, was the worst springboard for elevating careers of any competition/talent show has ever been. Something about it failed the talent extremely badly. =(
I thought ...this blows american idol outta the water..lol They need another show like this for rock n roll,Chris Daughtry wouldve won a show like this..I understand now why they chose Lukas in Rock star supernova(the sequel to this/season 2) The competition was stronger in Rock star supernova tho..the leftover singers outside of Lukas Rossi are pretty good..Diana,Ryan starr,Toby was ok,the bald guy? I'm sorry but this guys voice fell a lil short, its a hard one to sing but still...all up there looking like Bowie lol.JD I do like,as a singer n a person
Was such an amazing show, this is my 3rd or 4th time watching and really people went home in pretty much the order they should have. JD came with baggage, the red flags were there, but in the end he really was the best fit for many reasons, so would have been hard not to pick him he was super talented back then as well. TY & Marty were great, but just not the right fit, Jordis didn't have any range. Suzie grew a lot during the show and was awesome at the end but of course also probably not the right fit, could have been interesting maybe with a Women replacement, or a real flop hard to say. Mig to me was the next best choice, but I guess he was not quite "edgy" enough for them as in not bad a$$ enough, clearly he was a harder worker than JD, as was Marty, and both had their sh*t together more.
Suzie has been a judge for some time on... I think it's called Next Star? It's basically a "Canadian Idol" for younger folk (under 18 crowd). She's also put out several albums, all which I believe have done well.
ran out of characters haha. Suzie im not too sure about, pretty sure shes going well in Canada, and Ty is now in a quite successful soul group with a full head of hair, you won't recongnise him lol. I hope that helps haha

Too bad the album with JD was average and a shame JD’s demons got the best of him. Thanks again for uploading this! 🇨🇦
I'm glad you enjoyed it :) I think I prefer the INXS series more, but some of the contestants in Supernova are amazing
Fully agree with you. Season 1 was really more about the music. Excellent mentorship by the band.

And Always Great!:)) 💕💜💕🌹💜🌹💕💕
JD never realized he was a contracted member from the getgo
He thought he had the same entitlement as M Hutch. I don’t think so
I'm a massive INXS fan here in the UK.
He’s too high maintenance...
Wow did one of the band members say that? Devil's Party alone is just stellar
He was performing in London Michael Jackson thriller, he was the nicest guy! and we went for drinks afterwards, he still has the six pack going haha.
lilnikki457 I met Mig too! Not lucky enough to have drinks with him though!
What they did not tell JD was the contract was just for the tour and they might have picked him up latter. He make the mistake of thinking he was going to be part of the band.
Yeah..Mig may have been the most talented, but not perfect for INXS. But he seemed very very kind and real.
Just saw an interview with JD. He has his own record label and is doing awesome!!!
Ace! Thank you for sharing! Love how A Vocalist can give a lift to prettymuch any cool rad band!
KeepOnRocknsweet!
Definitely could listen to Marty sing for hours, his seems a gentleman.
I meant to write he seems a gentleman
He went to my high school. Graduated one year before I got there. But was friends with a lot of same people and partied with him. Have seen him play live a ton, him and the love hammers are all stand up dudes.
JD was a trainwreck waiting to happen. INXS may still be a thing if Mig or Marty had been selected
loved this show. saw JD and INXS in new zealand in 2006 - was amazing. he was definitely the right choice for the band - pity it didnt work out. still love marty too :)
Far out was it 2006 when they were in NZ. I was at that concert too :)
At least it worked out short term and they made a kickass comeback album and tour. I wasn't really a fan of INXS until this show when I watched it back in 2005.
Once JD got up there with INXS he was in. He had better command - performance - his voice - the fit was much better.
MARTY, YOU ROCK any where you are!
When I started rewatching the INXS season on here, I remembered JD being a jerk. But he wasn't really that bad (it seemed more like his comments kept getting blown up for drama) and I liked his vocals. It's sad how it turned out afterwards.
To this day, I still love JD & know he was the right choice. I always liked INXS but really became a fan bc of JD. I wish they were still together.
It is sad JD was a homeless loser turned drug addict after getting a little money. Of course that is why INXS dropped him, cocaine addition.
WOW! Flashback!
Thanks for sharing these capitulating ✨goldenmemories!✨
Bravo! to who's brave enuff! Many AllGood Great!
Cheers!Saludos!
No no no no no. If they had chosen Marty they would have new hits and still be touring.
It would have just been really bizarre for a post-grunge, hard rock singer to sing in a pop-rock band.
nhagelin1026 And the drug abuse. Don’t forget the drug abuse. Maybe they should have had everyone pee in a cup before the show started.
The final episode they chose a less popular song for Marty to sing, JD’s arrogance was irritating to watch. JD is NO Michael Huchence
@@cindyhunter2438 True that song is not one of the top ones (not a fav for me either) but it is a common one they always played live and Marty actually did quite well with it
Never replace Michael!!
johanna mix. I agree! These bands who try to replace the irreplaceable are just COVER bands. Journey without Steve Perry is another example. Start your own band, leave it alone.
JD has great voice. It fits INXS very well.
I picked JD from the very first show. He had the Rockstar ego and look... No one can replace Michael...Now JD is homeless or was...
Nadie ha podido ni podra reemplazar s Michael Hutchance, unico, maravilloso
I wish them all the best.
horse4you exactly,, I love how you put that 🙌🏼☺️
TheUmystifyme18 check out django Reinhardt to see what you can do without 10 functioning fingers on guitar.
I liked Marty much better as a performer, kinda glad he didn't win though...really love him w/ the Lovehammers!
True true true Marty should have been chosen JD’s too high maintenance...
God I love Brooke Burke. She's hawking Skechers comfort shoes and she still looks hot doing it.
I know people who haven't seen the show don't get what a big deal it is lol. Ty is pretty awesome, I think I prefer his stuff now to what he was going on rockstar INXS
JD had a great voice, stage presence and was the most attractive. No surprise he won, and he deserved it.
Jejeje, excelente programa.
No one could compare to Michael.!!!!
First the best show of all i could see all my life and sow many but sorry without Mister J DFortune you could not find a right format and frankly big respect for him becose even the ex front man of the one of the unsualy and great band from all the time just give up a hat on his legs. Him are better. Not a just a best singer writer, andmove the all legasy and the essents of the best entertainer of world on this millenium but a beatifull stilla litlle bit children heart becose now him change his life and give back to the children everything just could with a music production WAY MORE MUSIC and Gorgeus and Amazing one man show write a book about his life. Perfect gentlemen like this in this millenium are almost imposible to find GOD BLESS J D Fortune
Marty all the way he and INXS would still be doing World Tours
INXS 2005 :We are going to do a contest with 15 new singers INXS 2011: Ciaran Gribbin do you want to sing something with us?
thanks for the share.. i just watched it for the first time...
Can never replace Michael
Marty Casey was my personal favorite.
This is like replacing Jim Morrison some doors should just be close
Pretty much exactly how I feel. INXS felt more focused since they were auditioning for an established group.
Supernova felt all over the place since it was just a handful of people assembled to make a new group. Not like they could sing a Supernova track during eliminations.
But they did have some stand out singers.
Shame INXS and JD wound up breaking up though.
WOW!!! What a fabulous competition!!!
It is unsurpassed!! The variety--the talent---
the brilliance!!!!
It was so exciting when I watched it for the
first time---
and now, having enjoyed it 5xs----WOW!!!!
J.D. was the sure winner from the start--
(my opinion)---and the reason i think this, is because
his voice/style etc meshed so well with INXS.
However----
the fabulous talent!!!
I LOVED Suzie, And Ty (I cried when he was eliminated!),
Heather----Woweee, girl!!, Jesssica!! What a fighter!!
Such a GREAT competietion!!!!
But J.D. had it from the start!!
I loved Mig! What a professional!! And such a decent
guy!! Yummy!!!
Marty---sorry, dude---I was never a fan, although I thought
you were REALLY cute. Trees??
I have followed the careers of my personal favorites.
I love you--J.D._--you can do it!!! I am standing with you--
rooting for you!!!
And INXS---thank you SO MUCH for your amazing music!!!!
I love you all!!!
PS. I saw you perform with J.D. in Vancouver--and was
blown away!!!
MARTY looked like Hutchens? What?? No way!
cheers for the uploads! so good watching it again.
Fantastisk live-band!
JD was the best choice... He sounded almost identical to MH.
I thought so too. That was kinda funny. I loved Suzie though. One of my top three favorites on the show!
A lot of the comments Dave made during this show, towards the women and the men, wouldn't fly today. He crossed the line a few times.
I especially love how they gave Marty the opportunity to still perform and I always say to anyone who comes close to the finals usually they make it big as well
Marty and his band ended up opening for INXS on the tour because he was so good they didn't want to let him go despite picking JD.
Annnnnd JD blew it with drugs.
Hey kids - drugs are bad mmkay?
Not a problem, I love this show too :)
Great show...drummer Nate Morton...awsome..one of the best out there..
cheers, i actually seen mig in we will rock you at the start of june, i got all excited about him and my friend was like "wtf are you talking about!"
im gonna have to look up ty now, im curious!
Poor song choice by Mig. Suzie had nailed it and Mig didn't do it better than her.
Agreed completely, what the hell was he thinking, Suzie did a phenominal job with Bohemian Rhapsody
GenLibeb exactly... Suzie nailed it. His was too show tuney 🤦🏽♀️
Suzies was "good", but really his voice just fell flat in the song a few times which is surprising given his past. Also, an INXS song would have been better :)
Thanks so much nikki. Loved watching to again
Nah..can't replace Michael. Leave it be.
Marty has more grunge voice, he would fit in Nirvana
i still think they made a good choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again for that, aside from seeing the episodes I missed with Katrina it was fun to rewatch the series.
Might need to check out Supernova again next.
Thank you !
As an Australian, I was always disappointed they didn't choose Aussie boy MIG :(
JD was the best choice
I'm from the UK so i don't even know anyone who watched it
loved suzy, and would have been ballsy move

I still think JD was a better singer and performer than Marty but they do have different styles. I do agree that JD did give INXS what they were looking for where as with Marty (and others) they were being themselves. JD just clones to what ever he is doing, like when he was doing the Elvis thing. I did buy martys album that came out after the show and it was pretty decent. If you never got it I would recommend it.
Jd did a stand up
Clone job
I've seen many "classic rock" bands
U know it's all studio
Producers , engineers , synthetics
So... when I hear a natural talent being able to replicate that sound, that normally costs $250,000 a track , a "hit single" jd deserved it
Do we judge our new age rock stars nowadays ?? Pretty sure "being a rockstar "was something inxs was all about.. let alone any other band... don't hate
Jd you are incredible!!
Creo que soy el primer comentario en español 😁. Desde Argentina 🇦🇷
JD sounded a lot like Michael Hutchence
haha tongue bath made me laugh lol.
Where's JD?
It should have been Terence Trent D'Arby. Look up his performance with INXS
Agree, I liked TTD and how he performed with INXS, but I guess appearance is also part of the whole package, and he looks/looked very different from the INXS guys.
It's too bad that JD ended up getting fired for his drug use.
O awesome, Glad shes doing well, I liked Suzie :)
❤❤❤ I watched every show
Marty reminds me of Scott wyman. Jd was the perfect fit, pissed me off how it didn’t last
and they arent worth shitAlways said Mike carried band on his back.RIP
So glad J D won!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

(I still have the same opinion)
Had this show happened five years later, everyone on the show would be far more relevant then they are now.
Oops Dilana I meant
Props to Marty for such gracious departing comments
Suzie has been a judge for some time on... I think it's called Next Star? It's basically a "Canadian Idol" for younger folk (under 18 crowd). She's also put out several albums, all which I believe have done well.
ran out of characters haha. Suzie im not too sure about, pretty sure shes going well in Canada, and Ty is now in a quite successful soul group with a full head of hair, you won't recongnise him lol. I hope that helps haha
