I wanted to note for those having trouble getting the correct ROM, you're looking for a .z64 ROM not .n64 (I made that blunder already lol) there's one on the Internet Archive.

Don't worry, I've tested it on an old laptop from a friend, the compilation process mostly depends on your internet connection, the game should run fine

Just kidding, if i remember correctly it means a file that contains all the files from those catridges/cd/etc ina compact file format for the emulators to run it
You could just search the meaning on google also
