As a musician and a tree trimmer who owns this pedal, I can definitely attest that it sounds like a chainsaw. I can come up with ideas while ripping limbs off of trees during the day, then map the ideas into songs when I get home in the evenings. 😎
When I was still a fetus metalhead, I thought swedish chainsaw was just like an exaggeration and that it wouldn't actually sound like a chainsaw, but then I found out it actually sounds like a literal chainsaw.
Distortion all the way off; all the distortion knob on this and the original HM2 does is just add a ridiculous amount of noise. I had to put a noise gate set to 85 % in front of it just to make it usable with that setting. The signature HM2 chainsaw sound doesn't come from the distortion this pedal provides, which is pretty weak and just not good. It comes from the ridiculous High Mid boost from diming the Mid knob (Hi on the original Boss one) and the Low Knob (more the former). Best way to run this thing is into an already distorted amp with the Distortion off and the rest on 10. Something like a Marshall is ideal. Best sound I ever got out of it was putting it into the gain channel of my JCM900 with the Distortion off. A clean boost with a tube screamer makes an interesting sound also, maybe good for leads. I tried putting a tube screamer (Gain -0 Level 10) after it, with the Lows on the HM300/HM2 turned down to noon and the Mids and Level on 10 and it sounded almost.....djenty. So that's another use for it, getting some evil Vildjharta sounds out of your British tube amp that does everything but doesn't djent.
It is possible. It just depends on how your preamp operates. I personally found the best results if the channel was, at the bare minimum, on the edge of breakup. Every amp is going to be different
The pedal sounds like total shite. I’ve had nothing but success with Behringer pedals with the exception of this particular one. You want actual metal distortion from a budget pedal? Grab a Donner Giant Metal. It is maybe 5 bucks more and provides substantially better distortion. Ranging anywhere from black metal to metalcore. Sooooo much better.
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack the HM-2 is a good pedal and I enjoy essentially all genres of metal. My point here is that this particular pedal is just noisy doesn’t come anywhere close to cloning the HM-2. Again, I love and own plenty of Behringer pedals, but they missed the mark on this one (IMO).
Me:
'Swedish chainsaw?' Quaint.
The pedal:
*Actually sounds like a freaking chainsaw*
Invert Scrub accurate!

same here lol
6 years on and still one the better HM300 videos around🔥
If you use this pedal with an eq pedal you can get a sound really close to the left hand wrath
I love mine and that fact that its pink is a plus.
One of the few good but helpful reviews for the hm300! Thanks a lot mate!
ICANSEEDEADHORIZONS no problem and thank YOU for the kind words!
Awesome! I thought I needed one of these but now I’m definitely buying one. You’re the man - stay cool.

I thought of that as a pun with the band NIHILIST, the original bands before ENTOMBED.

No that's all wrong.
Those power chords sound like a bad wreck in Excite-Bike....
Aaron Mcdonald hahhahahahaha I haven't heard that name drop in a long time.
Sloppy Joe's Shred Shack took me a couple minutes to remember the name of that damn game lol
What if i'm trying to sound like Bloodbath"s older albums? lol That March of the Crucifiers tone! Their riffage is some of my favorite.
A mutant cannibal in a kitten body.
I walk the Left Hand Path
It's not quite enough gain for me. Can I gainstack this pedal with my Wazacraft Metal Zone into my Diezel V4 head?
I'm not sure if this is satire because this is WAYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH gain for me LMAO
But yeah. Depending on what you want to do.
Is that a custom color guitar? Couldn't find anything like it on Kiesels website...
Great question!
It is not a custom color. It's Surf Green with a Matte/satin finish
I’m getting early amazing atheist vibes from this video 😂
That toneeeeee!!!!!!!
Fausto Hernandez it's CRUSHING
Nice! Were you in the clean or crunch channel?
I have the same head
Finally got around to reading this.
Clean channel with the gain pretty high
Sloppy Joe's Shred Shack thanks man!
Is it possible to get a decent sound from the pedal while using it on a clean channel?
It is possible. It just depends on how your preamp operates. I personally found the best results if the channel was, at the bare minimum, on the edge of breakup.
Every amp is going to be different
@@SloppyJoes_ShredShack I meant: a decent distorted tone. I'd like to achieve a Swedeath metal tone with this pedal on my amp's clean channel.
Oh right.
Yeah i don't know how well it would sound with a very clean channel. I'm assuming it would sound like a buzzsaw still.
Human killer
Such a bruuuutal sound
*BROOOOTAL
If i buy this pedal will I play like you??? Lol,,
Does it work on bass?
Yes
8 bit chainsaw
Hey what's up

Ridiculous ugly plastic and pop color, yes im buyinh this pedal tomorrow.

I assume you don't listen to any HM-2 style metal bands.
