I got this from the opening encounter. You can then get 2 more chests without shooting a single enemy. While the first encounter isn't super easy, its also not that difficult. If you get the right modifiers (like this week), picking up the first 3 chests should be doable for most people.
Why, because your whisper is a superior ranged solar exotic to put in the heavy slot? Or because you can't get the whisper, and therefor can't get the catalyst finished? It seems weird to me that they set it up such that in order to get the sleeper catalyst, you have to already have a better weapon. It would make more sense if you could just get it upgraded an use it instead of the whisper for those who haven't been able to get one.
Go to the whisper quest area and go under the green room floor. There will be hundreds of shadow thrall that spawn non stop. I did the huckleberry catalyst there in 10 minutes. And then you can do about 3/4 of each sleeper step on each following run. An hour or so of slaying.
Lyle Clark or just use the shuro chi checkpoint... literally just a better version of the green room with no time limit and can rally flags to get ammo

depends. In a long damage phase spindle excels, shorter 1s sleeper. With the ability to get no reload numerous ways during boss fights u also need to understand that, with that reload mechanic, a sleeper and a high dmg sniper will fair just as well, if not better, in mid length damage phases too.
I got the whisper and sure cant use it in pvp unless theyre just standing there which is rarely if any ..human opponents move too erratically and fast for sniper rifles imo

Imagine getting back a month before beyond light. Farming until you get a catalyst and then there's less than 24 hrs to complete the catalyst before beyond light drops. Yup that's me. Catalyst is unobtainable 🤣🤡🤡

That’s because you aren’t seeing the math in it. With this catalyst, you can out-DPS the Darci given the proper conditions. (Which no longer matters since Whisper of Worms is obtainable)
Im sure if you do that math the 2 extra shots and shorter recharge make the damage output significantly higher but that's alot of steps for a situational gun.
Appreciate the video I've just finished my 1000 kills with all ikelos weapons. Annoying I gotta do the oracle puzzle in the whisper mission again since I've already done that in the past to get my thousand wings ship. I'll get it done though eventually

Seems daft it makes you run the heroic Whisper mission, as you will already have Whisper of the Worm which is also Solar, and does more damage than Sleeper. Not sure I see the logic from Bungie here.
Today is the last day for full rotation on ep weapons! Tomorrow starts shotgun only, then they rotate every week for a month. I got all 3 this weekend, so it IS possible.
If only it supercharged the damage, oh well. The times of d1 sleeper devastation are done it seems. A real shame they didn't make it rival spindle slightly. Maybe when the primary secondary energy heavy changes drop in forsaken, whisper of the worm will be moved to energy

J S No it won't be done. I had did the Whisper Heroic and chest quest before getting the catalyst. After my kills, it just sits in step two. I already have the ship Schematic, but not the data needed for the second step of the Sleeper catalyst. Have to do it again.
Wow why have the need for specific weapons? I feel it's bad locking the catalyst behind the raids rng. But then to also lock the the progress behind specific weapons that also have rng drops is a bit much.
if and when I get the sleeper masterwork to drop i'm going to wait until forsaken because the sniper and shotgun will be on the energy slot much much much easier to gte the 1000 kills without then being in heavy

I ran the mission but for some reason i wasnt seeing the oracle listed as 5 on yours. I only had 1 through 7 but excluding 5. I also missed a chest, does that have anything to do with the fact that one oracle did not spawn?
thanks for the video but it dont look like i'll be masterworking the sleeper anytime soon. my raid team hasnt been on in a while plus with everything else needed to do it like for example the whisper quest itself, i havent even been able to do that at all. needless to say i wont be getting they catalyst......
The only downside to whisper is that it takes quite a long time to farm for those percentages, but then again farming for those weapons to get sleepers catalyst makes this even shittier..
Hey if you do the oracle part before you have the catalyst/do the first step will you just automatically get the second step done since you opened the oracle chest already.
Just did all the kills, but the step after that - it didn't auto complete. So I guess you have to get the Oracle chest again ... Just did it again, and I got the Sleeper step done. So if you did it before the Catalyst, you gotta do the Oracle thing again. :)

Main ingredients charge time is 740. So sleeper is basically a body shot 1 hit sniper fusion rifle.

Lol whisper has a quest 500,000x easier and is super useful and sleeper has an almost non-factor of a bonus for an insanely long quest

It's unfortunate that the sleeper kill tactic doesn't effectively work in raids any more
