Welcome to another leg of the Cumbrian
Adventure, this week we're starting in
kendal again but this time heading north
towards Penrith, back down to conniston
finishing back in kendal.
In this video we ride some iconic green
lanes, Half of Gatescarth Pass, Breasthigh
Road, Old Coach Road, Langdale, Stile
End.. It was an eventful day to say the least!
Admittedly, it's not the best most entertaining video of mine, but given the weather and conditions it came out somewhat usable. Some trails in hindsight should have been clipped, but just fast forward through if you need to, you won't hurt my feelings 😂 enjoy it as much as you can.

Admittedly, this video isnt the best I've put out... After the weather I was convinced all the footage was going to be scrapped, so I was made up most of it was semi usable, apologies if the quality isn't up to parr. I was very nearly going to delete everything so anything is a bonus I guess. Let me know your thoughts 🤔

@@solcambsyeah I just wasn't happy with the audio to be honest mate and the water on the lens in places, I didn't think people would sit through it to be honest. Grateful to those that do though.

This was filmed in the lake district, Cumbria in the north West of England. It's stunning.
I found that the water on the lense just added to the atmosphere. Just like water on the visor when riding in the rain.
That's interesting, never considered that really. Does the water in the mic add to the atmosphere too then? 😂

No worries mate. Yeah it is just the seals, I think I may have just nicked them on fitting and it's slowly leaked out. I did think my front brake wasn't as sharp as it normally is 😂

Cheers Mike 🤘 yeah theres some cafe's and a BP in Coniston mate. Brace yourself for the cafes though, they're fooking expensive... I'm all for supporting local businesses but there's a limit and I think £13 for a butty and a coffee is taking the piss 😂 if its a nice day, theyll both likely be full anyways. Enjoy mate.

Honestly the best day I’ve had trial riding.
There was two deer on the Drunken duck lane, they were massive.
The lane at the very end is brilliant we only went to the gate but would like to carry on up.

That last lane is called gatescarth pass, the whole trail is only open once a month to motorbikes and you need to apply for a permit to cross, there's no more available now for this year sadly so without the permit that's as far as you can go. At the top of the hill is a padlocked gate, and the permit gives you a code for the lock, so without the permit you cant continue.
A premier no less :) Might have had a little chuckle at that river crossing - I was convinced you were going for a dip.
Oh mate, I was convinced I was going for a dip! Some big boulders in that water. Somehow, you always find that extra big of strength when you really need it 😂
Big day out that Lew, done all those lanes many times on my Beta and as usual it looks easy. Wouldn't rush to do those on my 790 though😂😂😂 Well done all👊👊👊💨💨💨
Nice one dude. The camera kind of catches the gnarliness off some of the trails, but they're much worse is person 😆 really daunting some of them. What a place though! 😍

😆 Nice one. Yeah it's quite tricky to be fair, but a shadow of it's former self apparently, gutted I didn't get to try it at its worst... I know that mad to say haha. I'll be back in the summer to try it the opposite direction, that might be slightly more difficult.
Cracking video. Been over the lakes a couple times but been looking for more lanes to do. Appreciate you sharing the route, not many people do! Will be heading over there soon on 990 adventure and a few t7's, will give this route a go 😎
That's why I share the routes mate, people are too precious about them, the lanes are there to be kept in use no point being selfish with them. Enjoy mate 👌

Yeah it's amazing up here, I'll be back up there again soon so I can get the views that I missed out on. Bloody weather! The trails in the lakes are pretty sick.

Brilliant 👏 i best start learning tyre repairs before I do any off roading 😊 .
😂 It's a handy skill to have. Not alot of technique to it really, just have to have the right tools for the job. Always have to prepare for these situations though, it's a big part of offroad riding, it's scares me how many folks out there don't even carry basic tools of tubes 😬

did you not do the loop round the farm at the bottom of breasthigh then? shame the weather got you, last time i was up there in Auugust we were sitting in the river we were sweating that much - how good is the pass at the back of gatescarth eh?
Aw mate it's mega! Loved it. Won't be able to do full gatescarth this year there's no permits left for the year. Shame. Yeah that farm loop, Tom was concerned the bikes would dig in the rut and we'd get stuck so we skipped that out, the other lads went through though, so I do know of it but it was too much of a risk on the big bikes.

I was wondering if you managed to get a permit, I tried but it's booked up right thru the year, ill try again next year, great video as always, I ve rode up the drunken duck, fell of three times not easy on a big bike, you're going well 👍
😂 It's a bloody hard trail! Them mossy cobbles and slate are a nightmare. Surprisingly steep too which doesn't come across in the video. We didn't need a permit to ride that back section mate, the locked gate is a little further on, this is the 'easy bit' haha. I do want to do the full trail though, looks amazing! @@lewsdirtbikedays brought back good memories use to ride under the M6 20 years ago😂and ride up stile end, gatescarth, garburn pass, on my ktm 400 exc,them were the days, keep them videos coming mate, you're well on the way to stardom, great riding from all the guys, your mates a good rider on that T7, it does help if you're tall in leg on technical trails, sadly I'm not 🤣👍

@@NorthRaceOneyeah the STR's are fucking deadly! I nearly done a collarbone on the wayfarer last summer when they instantly touched grass 😂 trackers aren't much better! Tyres I'm run ING at the mo are Kenda Trakmaster 2's front and rear. Less than 100 quid for the pair. Well happy with em. Noisy as fuck on the road, but dead soft and grippy, I've got over 1k miles on these now,they're just about dead but have been great.

Not possible in the UK, it's wet 90% of the year. It's more fun in the wet.
