I have a Sportcross that I've always wanted to manual swap. This info and the links in the description are super helpful. Thank you so much! Look forward to seeing the update videos!
Thanks! Yeah the main differences between a w55 and w58 swap is the driveshaft length, trans crossmember as the location is different, and the shifter but everything else is more or less the same and a easy swap :)
great work, greets from germany do a is200 j160 to a 300 from a sportcross automatic transmission here this days. can i use a w58 housing on a j160 and it will fit ??? or i have to use an adapter kit?
I went over it quickly but unfortunately my friend left the parts at his house so I couldn’t visually show it. We are running a emulator in addition to some resistors for the shift solenoids that connects to the factory automatic ecu to trick the car into thinking it still has the automatic trans and it’s functioning properly. You can run a manual ecu but then your keys will have to be programmed and they are expensive so we chose to go with an emulator. I’ll have a video on this shorty!
So it’s a little complicated because the w55 flywheel is a dual mass and thicker than a w58 flywheel which is a single mass. There is ways to make it work like changing the throw out bearing but I think it’s easier just to use a w55 specific aftermarket single mass if you can.
I’m having trouble finding the right clutch release bearing for my w58, I bought a sc300 bearing and the clip was different. Do you think you can provide the w58 bearing you are using? Also what clutch fork do you have?
I have a parts list in the description if you wanted to see all of the parts we used with links to each. After quickly adding up everything other than the W58, I ended up with a rough total of $2800. We live in an area that has an extremely high tax rate, Bay Area California, so it can be less depending on where you are. There are many parts that can be changed to save some money and many parts that can be upgraded leading to a more expensive swap, it all depends on how crazy you want to go. I hope this helps!
If you don’t run a manual ecu or emulator then the car will be in a “limp mode” where it just runs super rich, takes away timing and I believe the vvti doesn’t work so it will be perfectly drivable just slow and not efficient
Thank you! We ended up spending around $2000 plus or minus $200 but you can spend a lot more or a lot less depending on how many parts you want to replace and the parts you want to go with. We got really lucky and got the trans for $600 but I know they can go for as much as $1500 in todays market so there are a bunch of factors. I do believe that if you were to be patient and wait for local deals and sales then you can actually spend less than we did. Hope that helped!
All this seems like a lot of work just to go bash the car while drifting. Could have just sold the IS300 and bought an E36 or E46 with the manual transmission. Straight sixes that can take boost, factory manuals, rwd, about the same size and weight.

I’m glad it was useful! I should have an update out soon and good luck with your own swap :), Thanks for the support!
Just bought a w58 and thanks to this I know everything I need to order tomorrow 🙌
Glad to help
I plan on doing my swap this month ! Step by step everything I’m doing is the same I got a W58 from a SC300
Thanks for checking it out, I hope your swap goes smoothly!
nice video man. i didn't know that the w55 and w58 driveshafts were different

I dink you young dish bags should start a business
great work, greets from germany

or i have to use an adapter kit?
and which one is longer or which one is needed to fit with no modifications on the tunnel?
i wanne use the original driveshaft from the is200
Can’t wait for the next parts I’m tuned in👀
Should be out shortly! Thanks!!
Very good video man. I was wanting to re do my manual swapped is200 with a 2jz vvti ge a w58 and trying to make sure I get the right release bearing
Good info
Thanks
You act like I know what I'm looking at 😂
You a g for linking the parts
Great brake down thanks 👍👍
transmission fucking up so thank god i found this video. Thank you for the links
Best camera women ever ! 😝

Thanks for the video. Doesnt seem to crazy. I think I'll buy an is300!
Glad to hear!
Damn, appreciate you putting all the links
Glad it helped! :)
Thanks 🙏
Can you use the stock bolts for the driveshaft?
Where did you get your transmission? They seem hard to find.
Very helpfull vídeo, thanks, but what about electronics, do you need a manual ecu?

Will this specific flywheel work for a W55? Great video, thanks

Where’d you get the straight drive shaft from and length doing same swap and I can’t seem to find one
nice vid
Thanks :)
Can I use w55 flywheel? I have w58 what will I need to make it work? Or will it be easier using a w58
Does yours have any gear chatter? I also used a single mass
sick

So the clutch kit that you guys bought iy says it comes with a throwout is it the right throw out bearing?
Can you link the parts in the discription???
Done! :)

The fork, release bearing, slave, etc all are sc300 on our setup :/
How much power is this w58 capable of handling?
what was total cost of all parts not including the w58

how much whp you can handle with that set up
Too many factors like what it will be used for (grip or drift or street), what type of rear tire, etc but around 280
Where'd you get the heatwrap
It’s a DEI trans tunnel wrap and I linked an Amazon link in the description :)
I’m looking forward to manual swapping my 01 is300 but is it necessary to get the manual harness and ecu ?
My question exactly
If you don’t run a manual ecu or emulator then the car will be in a “limp mode” where it just runs super rich, takes away timing and I believe the vvti doesn’t work so it will be perfectly drivable just slow and not efficient
@@AimlessJP you can do the manual sci without the manual harness though right?
Not on a 01 sadly. You need to swap harnesses or just install an emulator
@@AimlessJP does swapping harnesses do anything to the car otherwise or will it act completely the same?
Does this work for 01 is300?
About how much for everything
A little under $3k, you can see all the links in the description to the parts we used so you can see how much each item cost.
@@AimlessJP thank you. Been wanting to manual swap my 01 is for awhile, so thank you
No problem, best of luck!
How much did this cost?
A little under $3k
Great video, how much money did you pay for all of the parts?
Thank you! We ended up spending around $2000 plus or minus $200 but you can spend a lot more or a lot less depending on how many parts you want to replace and the parts you want to go with. She funny😂
Can a MK3 driveshaft be used?
To be honest, I’m not sure about that one but I don’t believe so

For a lot of people that’s definitely a bunch better option but Guillermo really likes the IS300 chassis so that’s what he decided to stick with :/
