Jani sounds amazing. He was a cut above the rest of his contemporaries in terms of vocal abilities and songwriting. Hes one of my favorite vocalists ever.
Jani gave it his all at this show, awesome performance. That's cool how the Pantera guys hung around and supported Warrant. This was really not a Warrant crowd but they won most of them over that day, great rock band.

Saw them for this monsters of rock in paris, opening for Maiden. They were pelted with bottles at first, but they pulled a brilliant show. Dog eat Dog is a great metal album, and the band deserved better. If they metalheads like me looked further than cherry pie, Warrant would have been successful doing heavier stuff.
Imo what especially ,made jani great was that he alway's had that connection with the crowd.He was great all around we know,but i alway's loved how he made the crowd feel involved in the show.I got to meet jani on serveral occasiuons and he was alway's down to earth and a good dude.

I really liked Warrant and Jani being found dead in a motel reportedly dying from alcohol w drugs in high concentration in his bloodstream didn't surprise me completely. Glam/hair metal was dead basically when he was found. I think that caused serious depression to Jani and unfortunately couldn't cope with the industry's musical changes. Most of today's music sucks...!
Warrant did a better job of performing their studio recordings live than most bands of the 80s. Before YT I wouldn't have believed it but now the proof is out.
saw this on a vhs i traded for in 1998. amazing to see them live in the dog eat dog era...clearly they wanted to follow the skid row path of getting heavier to be taken more serious. jani was always chasing having his credibility not be cherry pie. the dog eat dog record is a testament to true songwriting....and its a shame we lost jani so early. he has a massive library of unreleased music we will probably never hear as it is tied up in litigation between his kids, and his previous management. so many incredible songs...
I saw Warrant several times live and watched them blow opening acts off the stage several times. They had a commanding headlining tour with Cherry Pie. I got to see them play in a smaller club on the Dog Eat Dog tour and it was awesome up-close.
Such props to Warrant for beign on a bill like this where people were lying in wait, and throwing shit at them, but still sounded fucking great. RIP to the GREAT Jani Land and the rest of Warrant!!! #WhatPipes!!

As much sh!t that Warrant got for Cherry Pie, they could rock their assess off when they wanted to. Plus, Jani Lane always seemed to be a pretty cool guy. I met him after a few shows in the 90's when the band was signing autographs, and Jani always treated the fans with respect, enjoying the connection. In fact, when Warrant did a second New Years Eve show in a row in the Chicago area, he remembered the previous gig and how he was sick and could barely get through the night--but he did. It was nice to see a rocker that continued to respect the fans even after he got famous.
He was a true vocalists with alot to offer , I never did get the chance to see them live as a whole band , except after Jani passed . Unfortunately , . He was an asset to say the least to play with any band , definitely a talented musician

Jani had a black eye, and my Dad played golf with a couple of guys from the band (he didn't remember names or what they played) during the day before the show at Shady Oaks Country Club in Jackson... which sadly is no longer in existence. Wish we had come into town a day earlier, I'd have gotten to golf with them too, but my girlfriend and I at the time were driving to Jackson, MS from Arkansas where we were in college.
Oh saw them open for Poison in 1990 on the Flesh and Blood tour, again in Jackson, MS. So I saw them at least 3 times that I can remember. Man that was a lifetime ago.
The worst thing about this band is that they had their breakthrough in 89! Few years later no one cared :( Terribly underrated band (their 3d record kicks ass)
