Crysis 2 Remastered is the real deal.

I really grew to love Alcatraz's character. Even if he was a mute Marine. Him working with Prophet was awesome. Like a Gordon Freeman or Master Chief/Cortana type character. I was so annoyed when Crysis 3 ditched him without mention. Then Crytek came out and said he died, Prophet consumed him, and then repurposed his flesh at the end of Crysis 3. So frigging weird.

It's hard to explain but basically, Alcatraz' physicality is still within the suit, but the sentience that has been adopted is that of Prophets as his dna was genetically bound to the nanosuit. Alcatraz is quite literally a dead man walking, as revealed in the medical scans in Crysis 2 in the Crynet sequence. With the nanosuit fully unlocked/nanites fully free it can become whatever it wants to be, it adopts the image of its original occupant for whatever reason, but it could shift into its original form at will. Alcatraz is the body, Prophet and the nanosuit itself are interchangeably the mind/spirit.

You get insane strength, speed, hops and invisibility, but the exact moment you get hurt, that suit is going to merge with you whether you want it to or not. And if you're unlucky, it'll assimilate your mind and shove you into the next pwrson who wears the suit, assuming it doesn't get vaporized in the cleanup. Essentially, that suit is a one way ticket to a life of pain and misery if you put it on. Even if you had the extra layer to keep it off the skin like Prophet did, your head is still exposed, so it will still attach to you.
I highly doubt, the trilogy was supposed to focus on the Prophet, his fight against aliens at the nanosuit level. If there is ever a 4th part, I would expect a psycho in the lead role.

Lighting redone (new lighting system), partially new textures and materials, new color grade, raytracing for specular, new antialiasing, probably something more. Not going to take a stance on how much improvement it is in practice, but there's plenty of changes.
Remaster just means they added a new coat of paint. They took a lot of shortcuts with Crysis 2 and 3 so that they could run on console hardware. That means using clever optimization to create beautiful worlds. Hollow though. The global illumination helps.
