  • From the Radiolab podcast: What happens when everyone around you is heading in one direction and you have no choice but to dissent?
On today’s show, we’re excited to share an episode from our friends at the podcast ‪@NPRThroughline‬.
Sometimes, the most dangerous and powerful thing a person can do is to stand up not against their enemies, but against their friends. As the United States heads into what will likely be another bitter and divided election year, there will be more and more pressure to stand with our in-groups rather than our consciences.
So the Throughline team decided to tell some of the stories of people who have stood up to that kind of pressure. Some are names we know, others we likely never will. What those people did, what it cost them, and why they did it anyway.

I imagine this is what a lot of the doctors opposing “gender affirming care” for minors must be feeling like..
How difficult it must be to hold your ground when everyone else is cheering on sex changes for children.

This is what a lot of transgender people must be feeling like. How difficult it must be to step out of their house when so many Republicans want you closeted.....or dead. No one is cheering for sex changes for children. Those families involved are dealing with difficult issues and decisions....and you care so much...that you don't even care to know their names or meet them.

@dazzaspc Gender is about biology and science, not the indoctrination, dogma, religion, ignorance, or personal opinions of that that don’t recognize or acknowledge their violent behaviors.

@@Stretesky Ok. If gender is “about biology and science” define a woman.
Gender is the social manifestation of biological sex.
Everyone telling you otherwise is a Marxist.

@@Stretesky gender theory is literally about feelings. “I identify as” is not science. It is dilution.
I really can’t believe we are in 2024 discussing these things.
“I feel taller”, or “I identify as black” or maybe “I identify and a minor so it wasn’t pedophilia?”
      Ridiculous
