If we let praise and/or criticism define our self-worth, we're going to end up feeling stuck and possibly wind up in a bad place mentally and emotionally. Doing things for personal fulfillment definitely seems like the healthier option.
hi, as a multidisciplinary creative, alllow me to condense: focus on the process, not the product, & your energy will not be wasted-stay in your process & be real about your work, & you will attract the ppl it resonates with & everybody stop watching your metrics, their granularity is a lie
love this video! just to add -- i think there is such an emphasis on time running out or some expiration date on trying something, like after a month of no progress you might as well give up. but what really helped me reframe is to realize i have literally my entire life to accomplish things, and a month in the grand scheme of my life is very short! so i might as well keep going, and odds are the longer you stick to it, the closer you get to your goalposts. very insightful video
another banger! like who is this woman! You spoke about trying in public and it sent me right back to you singing in Eastern Market and my initial intrigue in your voice and how you move in this world. I’ve only been able to step out as my own concoction of Me by watching you and so many others take that leap. Shame and hesitation are a plague, truly. Rest and reflection are the only things that keep the shame paralysis at bay. But also knowing who I’m creating for helps immensely. I create for a few people who I cherish and whoever else wants to see my stuff, that’s their right and I appreciate the intrigue. I’m still waiting for negative feedback in my work but I kind of just figure the people being negative about what I’m doing are people I don’t need to spend my time and energy on for long. Take what they say, reflect on it, let it pass. Rest and reflection. Thanks Kate. Well done. SUPER WELL DONE!
Oh my GOODNESS! I cannot believe you've been around since those early busking days. What a thoughtful comment, thanks for making my day and YES! You get it! Happy creating :D
