    Somehow this pop up in my recommendation and I feel like we are in very similar in situation. I'm graduating soon with bs degree with no experience or job coming my way. Definitely feel anxious about my future with only one semester left. But I always believe that things will eventually come around and great opportunities will appear. So all the best to both of us. I'm in the same situation, man. I have 2 masters degrees from top universities, distinctions in both... but I have been unemployed since 2022. Not for lack of trying. In fact I haven't stopped trying. I churn out hundreds and hundreds of applications. I've managed to get a few interviews, but it always ends with me being ghosted, or there's some reason on their end that means they can't or won't hire me. It seems I keep almost making it then something always seems to go wrong last minute on their end, or I'm the runner up. I don't get it. I did exactly what I was told to do. I stayed in school. I got a degree. I upheld my end of what I was meant to do, yet it's gotten me nowhere. I even got a second degree. But still I am unemployed. The job market is honestly fucked at the moment.

    • @AbdulQMirza
      @AbdulQMirza  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am sorry to hear your experience, you are not alone in this - indeed the market is tough, and I wonder myself when the barrier to entry will lower so people like us can get into a job soon. I can only say to keep positive and do what you are doing, the hard work will pay off hopefully. We got this 💪

    • @Lefty7788tinkatolli
      @Lefty7788tinkatolli หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@AbdulQMirza I'm done waiting for it to lower. But what I am beginning to realise is that churning out hundreds of applications is a colossal waste of time. It's time to change tactic and build a network all by myself. Madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome, and I feel that's what I've been doing.

    • @AbdulQMirza
      @AbdulQMirza  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are actually right, I recently decided to stop applying to jobs as well since I felt I am not job ready, and steer my efforts to more lower level/apprenticeships that will be willing to accept me. If you are looking to get into a field that has lots of apprenticeships, consider going through that route. I wish you the best of luck bro 👍

    Personally, beside all the job hunting, I would advise you to start freelancing & looking out for clients since you know quite a few programming languages. This might pay off by either actually making a decent amount, almost like a salary, or at least getting some experience to show off in your resume. In general, starting a business would be a great idea; register an LTD, and you can even show that in your resume as work experience for a company.

    I'm in the same situation and it sucks... I graduated with a master's in computer science this year in March, and I haven't gotten any interviews since. I've been applying, updating my resume every now and then but still no luck.
    I've been trying to make the best out of my time though like trying new hobbies, trying to get better at different sports. But more importantly are chores that my parents used to do for me ( cooking, laundry, cleaning, taking out trash and recycling, etc). I figured that I'll need to know these things when I move out, so I might as well use the time I have now to be productive. I guess that even though I'm jobless, doing these chores makes me feel more like an adult lol.

    Hey dude
    Just a little advice I can impart on you from being in similar situation 10 years ago.
    I suggest working in a retail (don't put your degree on there otherwise you will get rejected) job part time and earn money to pursue a hobby in some sort of fighting arts. You will socialise more, and will develop a killer instinct to nail an interview and a job. And plus your confidence will shoot after 6 months when you notice your progress.
    Do this on top of your tech pursuits also.
    And make sure your CV looks professional and make it very presentable

    One thing is you said you’re trying to push more into tech but I don’t recall what technologies you prefer to work with, what industries you would like to be a part of and most importantly what niche in tech do you want to build a career in. I say this because eventually you’re going to end up building a career in one domain. Whether that be software engineering, cloud computing, data science/analytics etc. Following that it splits into several more categories. For example software engineering can be split into front end, back end, full stack, iOS/android dev etc. Cloud engineering encompasses cloud, devops, SRE, infrastructure, security engineering etc. I mentioned technologies because every company uses different technologies and so becoming very knowledgeable about those high in demand technologies that many companies use puts you at an advantage. You should only be focused on providing value to these companies based on the jobs you are applying to and you do that by possessing a good foundation both with knowledge, certs and projects. Cause you could spend your time doing other hobbies but the goal is clear as day and that’s to get that tech job. Also be open to take roles outside of London and you would have a better chance at getting more interviews especially if you show great enthusiasm to move to that location.

    • @trapbois4573
      @trapbois4573 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m 26 as well and just like you I had no idea what I should do. Studied computer engineering I did a few internships such as ui/ux and an energy auditing internship. However what really set the stage was a devops engineering internship and that kind of set the stage for where my domain was and that’s cloud engineering. Another friend of mine knew exactly what he wanted in college and that was to be a quant dev. However he knew the skills which were required, a strong foundation in c++, pandas, sql, knowledge of stochastic calculus. He didn’t start off working as a quant dev, he just focused on becoming an excellent c++ developer and slowly picked up more technologies on the way.

      Thanks a lot for the in-depth comment. I have been a bit over the place, I have been trying to get into software engineering but have also been doing web development, so my tech stack covers more breadth than depth. I have been trying to show potential employers that I know a range of languages and am open to learning more. But seems like from what you are saying, I should niche down and focus on a few technologies to stand out and show expertise in these areas instead. I appreciate the thought you put into this. Glad to know that you and your friend have been seeing progress with your approach! 👍

    • @trapbois4573
      @trapbois4573 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@AbdulQMirza Definitely focus on a few set of technologies you think you like and feel shows real promise. Really look into the type of jobs you feel are said "dream jobs". Also there is nothing wrong with not pursing tech. Sometimes focusing on a career that you feel some level of passion about goes a long way because you will put in countless hours into building your skills and growing your education no matter what you do. A lot of people feel tech is the only lucrative career that provides a stable living. Really if you are not a great engineer or can't pick up knowledge quickly, some people never get promoted or recommended for better roles. Definitely though if you are trying to break into tech, you have to work like you're already in tech. You should honestly be studying and learning 10+ hours a day, 5 days a week. Do your daily workouts in the morning or in the evening but everyday you got to do work towards the goals. You got this 🦾

      @AbdulQMirza  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I appreciate the detail that you have provided - I did consider maybe tech wasn't for me, but I realised that I don't have as much interest in anything else aside tech. This video is super interesting
    The video quality is great, the text, the visuals, you have good light, editing, etc etc. Quality is surprisingly on the level.
    You clearly live in a nice place and have money for the multi light source setup and decent camera.
    The fitness shot. You asked someone to film yourself doing the exercise which demands decent social skills.
    And looking on your muscles you have money for the decent protein source
    You have enough of:
    - introspection
    - money
    - social skills
    - intellect
    - time
    But yet no job.
    That is a wired situation to be it. Or am I dreaming?
    Anyway, I'm a senior software developer. Can I somehow help you? Like, I can answer your questions on the topic. I've conducted hundreds of interviews during my career.

    Young man, there is a ton of opportunities out there. You are fighting to get a job in a changing downsizing industry. We don't need system engineers or IT people. There are many unemployed. You could become a policeman, fireman, go into healthcare which will grow as the population ages. You could go into the military as an officer. McDonalds promotes from within and if you are savvy in business and work hard, manage people, you can eventually own a McDonalds and be set for life. You need to rethink working for someone else that will lay you off in a heartbeat. I was in IT for 37 years and after being laid off in 2012 at age 60 for the third time, I retired. The older you get, the less opportunities will come your way in tech. Don't waste time, choose a new direction. They all can be rewarding and needed.

      Thank you very much for watching and giving me your insights. I have kept my mind open to other opportunities should they be suitable and appear - since I know if I don't get a job in tech after a while, it might be time to look elsewhere. I appreciate you letting me know that there are other rewarding professions aside tech. I hope your retirement is going well 👍

      @@AbdulQMirza If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't go into It. Worked a lot of hours and on call 24 x 7. Plus working on holidays and weekends to install software and fix data gets old. Nope, I would be a owner of 2 or 3 McDonalds and a millionaire many time over. IT people are an expense, not a profit center. Plus not protected by unions in most jobs. I sounded harsh in my first response, but there are better jobs then sitting in front of a computer.

    First the video quality and thumbnail is amazing.
    Second i knew you studied engineering before you even said it hahaha engineering is done mate unless you wanna slave away as a faceless employee in a company that may replace you.
    Also never compare yourself to others man. Never regret anything man.
    Keep up the youtube gig and you might actually make a great thing.

    Maybe get into teaching, a lot of subjects have bursaries especially in. Science and Maths. I graduated the year before you with a 2:2 and have been teaching now for 2 years! Inshallah it all works out for you, but it is definitely something to consider and in the mean time maybe apply for grad roles? - One of my co-worker who is a grad engineer has been doing this

      @AbdulQMirza  3 หลายเดือนก่อน
