I watched it with memories of my friend Russ Wilson, Russ and me loved watching Chet videos together, both just reverently mumbling...and Russ could play cat wars on the whammy bar, and all kinds of shred stuff- when Russ died a few years back, I lost my Chet video partner! Man,DO I miss him... but this brought him back for a while... I saw Chet play live once, he was so good, it baffled most in the audience.. he was a music master.
Thanks for sharing such a gem...this is truly magical, so beautiful...I bet no one knew existed! Fabulous stuff, I'm sure even advanced guitar players will have a ton of material to learn, and Chet in his humble, inimitable style will win many hearts
You're welcome. I don't have any more, but if anyone comes up with anything, I will transfer it so everyone can watch. I don't mean to step on anyone's copyright, just hoping to keep the sound alive well into the future.
I've been playing by ear for 60 years. God I sure wish this would have been available to me way back then. Chet Atkins was truly the greatest. He is still missed. God bless him and his family.
Keep going and don't give up. You'll get there. Learn basic theory and it will open all the windows of theory and that will take you places you never dreamed you could play.
I've been playing couple years and the refined finger placements and nuanced chords are ahead of me tbh, not to mention scales! It's a good illustration of how guitar is ultimately best learnt, but I got going with just simple three chorders, barre and power chords and the easier first position folk chords..
what? this video is great for beginners. You’re supposed to take your time going through the video. Commenter was having trouble with G/C/D. That’s on them.
Chet teaching how to get started on guitar is like having Einstein teach preschoolers math.
☝️👍🏻🙏❤️🙈 and like Tesla schooling Elon Musk on free energy and why no one should be paying electricity bills.
Indeed. At least he is friendly while he makes us realize the mortals we are. :)

This was great to see. I had this dvd and book set when I was a kid.
Wonder what happened to the younger ones in this video (and what became of the guitar playing career)?
oh guitar playing career! Thanks for clarifying. Your comment seemed creepy at first, but you’re purely guitar curious
@@donsimons9810 Couldn't get off to a much better start than playing in a Chet Atkins video.

Intunisia I think 😊
Wish it was 1986 and I was sitting there with Chet AND I wish he was still here with us 😢
Tra pochi anni lo potrai realizare, con la macchina del tempo.
I had always wanted to watch this video. Thank you for uploading!

I so enjoyed this.
Awesome! The world needs more pickers.
How fun is this! Twenty years playing guitar, I follow this note by note. Love Chet old cowboy tender accent.

I had this as a dvd and tab book when I was a kid. I learned a lot and had a blast with it.
Thank you for posting this video of Chet! Are there any more?

First lesson is how to play the guitar.
The second lesson is how to humbly accept a Grammy.
Amazing video, when you watching it, something good happens to you!!!

You're never gonna get,
To play that rock'n'roll."
Legend!🙏
Спасибо за выпуск❤❤❤❤😊!
Lolz, five minutes in and he's fingerpicking. True beginners, please don't think this is for you yet.
it’s great for beginners. It should have a book. your lack of skill and determination is not some rule others must follow. Learn how to try
Great lesson!
Lol I used to have this tape
so simple yet so complex
the teacher of Steve Howe
Rip Chet🥀

Ok..im just learning guitar...after the first 3 chords my brain was hurting...

I wouldn’t recommend this for beginners, but it’s a joy to watch.

@@donsimons9810 the lessons are fantastic, but the students may not be ready to swallow so much, so early. ….but for its time, it’s fantastic
What’s the name of the song at the beginning?
That’s what I want to know have you figured it out
