It's highly toxic to breathe with particles in the air, very bad for the lungs. I guess you have yet to experience an Oregon wildfire season yet... Oh goody, lucky you!

There’s smoke everywhere at the scene, that could be the reason the masks. At first I thought the same about the masks and covi outside and then I realized there was a building on fire.
