Thanks for this helpful info. I just bought another bird's-nest fern after losing one after re-potting it. My error was that I allowed some of the potting soil to fall into the center "nest" of the plant, which resulted in rot. I now know: do not allow water OR soil to get into the center of the plant. Hoping to do better with this next one.

Thank you for the plant education. My fern is doing well at this time, but I learned things to watch for. 😊😊

I really want to succeed with my new two ferns, but just when I brought it home we experience strong cold weather in FL.
Now, couple of days I am sure wont kill them if kept inside, but I wonder about the watering. How often? I try to check the soil with a long stick, it turn back half dry ...what should I look for in order to properly water my fern? Thank you for any answer you may provide.

Thank you so much but I found you maybe a little bit too late 😢 my bird nest fern has gone from a plate size down to a small saucer size. I’m not giving up but I wish I would have seen your video sooner. I’m not throwing it out until I see complete death. Thank you. You are very specific and I needed that.

There are some birds nest that are naturally very crinkly on the edges of the leaves .. it’s the variety not a problem

Do you think bird's nest fern would be ok in semi hydro

Thanks so much plant boy, this was super helpful! I had already potted up my fern before I watched this and now realize the heavy rich soil I used (thinking it needed all that moisture) is all wrong. Should I ease it out the planter and switch to a faster draining mix? It's only been about 8 hrs.

I've owned my bird's nest for some months now but noticing lately it's like getting eat up or something. I checked the leaves and noticed something clinging to them and have removed these spot, not many. When I brought it home, I repotted the plant and notices small big inside the soil. Ok so I am a baby planter, so should I replant it and check, remove or what? I wondering if it's causing these missing parts of the leaves can you talk about that. I really love this one and need help.

Everybody keeps talking of East facing, or North facing, or West facing windows. The windows, in different countries, and continents , are very different, and cannot be standardised.

I bought my Bird's Nest fern in a huge pot. Should I down pot it?

I just got one of these babies a month ago. I've already lost two fronds and a third on its way out, without new fronds growing in to make up for the loss. I had it under a grow light (about a foot away), so possibly too much light...but it's the bottom fronds that are dying, not the top fronds? Is that from too much light, or not enough water?
What happens is the leaf starts turning yellow along the stem, then the yellowing spreads to the edges, then the leaf wilts overnight and dies.

I could be wrong but it might be age. I'm pretty sure the leaves on top are the newer leaves because they emerge from the center.

My birds nest Fern (Osaka) has such narrow, long leaves. She's getting light all day from an east facing window...I don't understand what's going on 😩

Bought one of these month ago. I thought it was one big plant. It's four plants! There are four crowns.
Can I report this or separate them? 🙏
