I was just learning how to playas a little kid when the Panthers had their inaugural season and I watched the 96 run with my dad every night and it was one of my most cherished memories as a fan. Watching the team become a basement dweller for nearly two decades was rough. Guys like Bure, Luongo, Horton, Jokinen, Weiss would rot alongside either a bunch of washed up vets or a bunch of guys that would not crack an NHL roster elsewhere.
I stuck with them when they showed promise in 2016 with a young core, only to have it all fall apart a year later. I stuck with them during the 2017 expansion draft debacle, which would set our team back even further and the two players we sent would be instrumental and beating us in the finals last year.
This cup win has been absolutely surreal as a fan. I’m still trying to take it in. Had you told any Panthers fan a decade ago that they’d finally hoist Lord Stanley, we’d have looked at you like you were crazy. Not this team. They can’t even fill their building. They were practically giving away tickets.
Now, we have a legit contender. Here’s to many more years of sustained success for this franchise.

Oh man the years and years and years they can't even make a tape to tape pass. If they did make a pass, and it wasn't behind the guy charging over the blue line, it was a miracle. Meanwhile Tampa is whipping the puck around. They had their tough times too, to be sure. Back when I was living in St Pete.

Panthers have been a sleeper team. They’ve been one of the most consistent teams in the NHL since 2016 and arguably the best team in the NHL the past 3 seasons and back to back Stanley cup final appearances with them winning one.
People can throw the irrelevant franchise and attendance stuff all they want. Panthers won the cup and have great fans to show for it. It’s like that in every sport where a team consistently struggles but once they start winning, the page flips. Hockey runs through Florida teams. 3 out of the last 5 with a Florida team being in 4 of 5.

I'm not a Canucks fan, but I was a Luongo fan, and truly felt bad for him not able to win the Cup in Vancouver. Virtual Luongo on the EA Sports NHL series was good for me too. lol
As a Canadian living in Toronto though, he was also highly respected by the fans, and he became a beloved hockey legend when he helped bring home Canada's once in a lifetime Olympic Gold in the Sidney Crosby game. I remember chanting "Bobby Lu" with the rest of the Canadian hockey fans just as hard as we were cheering for "Sid The Kid"
As a Leafs fan, we also had Paul Maurice for his first NHL coaching gig, and even though he didn't get the Leafs to the playoffs, he still got 41 regular season wins in his first season, so I was disappointed when he got fired after his second season. I'm glad he finally got to hoist the Cup.

Luongo poured his heart out for the loss his community endured. It was absolutely heart wrenching, after all, he lives minutes from that High School. After he was done, we all could have excused him if he needed the night to collect himself. But not Luongo. This legend put his mask on and proceeded to play 60 minutes of hockey. I've never seen anything like it in my life. This moment transcended hockey. Luongo was also a bro to the Panthers and their fans. Vancouver too. As much as we love him on ice, we love him more as a person. 100% class. So happy to see him achieve this moment.

In 2015 my mom promised me that if the Lightning forced Game 7, we’d go (spoiler alert: Chicago won in 6). I remember being devastated but when I got to see him win it in 2020, I was ecstatic. My dad took me to Game 5 vs Montreal during 2021 and I got to see them win it at home which is a memory I’ll never forget. I also saw the Avalanche hoist the cup in the Amalie as well but I left after the final buzzer because during that time, I lived 3 hours away and I didn’t want to see Colorado hoist that cup because it hurt to see. Out of this world happy for Lu as a Canucks fan!!
The parallels between him and Bobrovsky are quite stark.
Heading into game 7 both were Conn Smythe from runners in the games they won, or got blown out.
Goalie is such a unique position to play.
The lines between amazing and scapegoat are razor thin.

I’ve been a fan since 2017. Finally got to go to a game in 2019 vs the Ducks and Barkov had a hell of a game. I immediately bought his jersey on my way out the door.
Last night, it finally hit me and the tears rolled when he picked the cup up over his head as a season ticket holder. Sooooo happy for the whole organization but Barkov deserved this so much.

I consider Barkov one of the classiest hockey players in the league. He is a quiet, yet strong and loyal captain, perhaps, the most notable captain in Florida Panthers history. He never whined, never got caught in any scandals, never asked to be traded, never had any beef with a teammate. he just came to the arena for every game and worked as hard as he could in every part of the ice. It makes me, a Florida Panther fan from Game One (a 4-4 draw at at Chicago, in October 1993), especially happy. I can not imagine a player more deserving of the honor of lifting a Stanley Cup.

From a Red Wings fan Edmonton was lucky to even be in the finals. Cats stopped playing in Game 4 and Edmonton ran with that momentum and Florida took til Game 7 to get their game back. McDavid going to leave end of his contract he won't win a Cup in Edmonton same with Leon the year after that.

Congratulations to a number of Edmonton Oilers fans in the comments, you know who you guys are, you had a humility and we didn’t see you get ahead of yourself after the team won game four. You also had respect for the opposing team and its Fanbase. You’ll get there one day, it will happen. As for the other Oilers fans, you know who you are, all I can say is maybe next year show a little more respect and humility! Believe it or not, it’s not over after you finally show up in game 4

Personally, I'm a Ducks fan so it was cool to see Montour win the cup (I hate Bob Murray for trading him). The coolest stories for me were guys like Verhaeghe, Forsling, and Lomberg. Those guys may have been counted out or not given much of a shot, but they excelled with the Panthers and especially Carter and Gustav were key guys in this cup run. Happy for the Panthers and their fans.

Tkachuk is definitely my favorite player that I've seen lifting the cup in my lifetime, of course Lanny MacDonald is my all time favorite, but I think Tkachuk has earned this cup, as he played a great season and had an amazing run with the Panthers he's earned it.
It'd be even more special for him to bring the cup to Calgary and celebrate with the fan base that started his NHL career

As an oilers fan, it breaks my heart to lose by 1 in game 7 and its the 2nd game 7 i watched my team lose in the cup final.
On a high note, to crawl back from 3-0 and lose in 7 by 1 is still an achievement especially with how the season started.
But to also lose 3 years in a row to the team that wins the cup is frustrating.
    2022 Colorado
    2023 Vegas
    2024 Panthers
Sucks but it shows the Oilers can play well and a couple changes to be made.
