The best thing about Tara's Never Seen!! reactions is you can not predict the reaction. Most reaction channels are just shooting sunshine and rainbows out their butt about everything they watch, but here we get a raw honest reaction like when you watch something with a vocal friend.

One of my favorite Roddy Piper quotes is

The fight scene between Roddy Piper and Keith David is considered one of the greatest in film history. I hear there are some film schools that show it as part of their curriculum.

  • @BigGator5

"I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum."
Fun Fact: Roddy Piper, being a married man at the time of filming, refused to take his wedding band off. That's why in several scenes you can see a wedding ring.
They Bubblegum Fact: The "bubblegum" line was (sorta) ad-libbed by Roddy Piper. According to director John Carpenter, Piper had previously written the line in his notebook of potential verbal bits during his wrestling career. He shared the notebook with Carpenter, and they agreed that this particular line fit the character and the film perfectly. Piper went on to use it at a wrestling match.
They Fight Fact: The big fight sequence was designed, rehearsed and choreographed in the back-yard of director John Carpenter's production office. The fight between Nada (Roddy Piper) and Frank (Keith David) was only supposed to last twenty seconds, but Piper and David decided to fight it out for real, only faking the hits to the face and groin. They rehearsed the fight for three weeks. Carpenter was so impressed he kept the scene intact, which runs five minutes, twenty seconds.

The director, John Carpenter, had approached Roddy Piper sometime after he had competed for the WWE (then WWF) at WrestleMania III in April-May of 1987. When They Live was a hit at the box office, he came back to the WWF In 1989.

Roderick Toombs, aka Rowdy Roddy Piper is Canadian. He is cousins with the Hart family.
He was Scottish by ancestry. So it wasn't a lie or character with him being a Scot, just an exaggerated version of himself.
They Live is such a relevant movie today, because of the messaging with it. The sci-fi elements aside, so much of this film just hits true. The haves have everything, the have nots have nothing but the scraps and keep having those taken away.

If you ever play the video game 'Saints Row 4' (or Saints Row 4: National Treasure Edition or Saints Row 4: Re-Elected Edition) - both Keith David & Rowdy Roddy Piper (lend both their voices & likenesses to the game) make several references to this film, as well as there is an entire level (called 'He Lives') that acts as sort of a semi-mini sequel to this movie. Hello I very much enjoyed your reaction to this movie here's a little fun faction this movie Roddy Piper went on to film this after Wrestle Mania 3 in 1987 and that fight scene with Keith David is the longest fight scene ever in a movie. Also this movie if you tend to watch it many times after like you you said on how this movie can relate in to day's everyday to day works in life for example the people that look like aliens could be the people that took the Mark of the Beast after the Rapture and sold themselves as in souls to Satan as for the people that didn't take the mark of the beast could be that they didn't ask the LORD into there lives to get saved and fully surrender themselves. This movie was came out in 1988 and like you said it was ahead of it's time but as you were watching you found things that you can relate to what's going on in today's event's that this movie portrayed life event's to come which is going on in todays society. Keep up the great reactions as I check out other movies on your channel as I just subscribed . Have a Awesome week .

It's kinda silly and a bit tricky trying to find more in this movie than it provides. That's a good piece of entertainment and that's all. People today have very strong opinions on every topic. They are almost fanatical in their approach to life. And as always it's kinda like we are the good ones: and the other side is totally evil. Let's "peacefully" burn something to the ground and this will tell the world: we are heroes not villains of the story.
What about influencers or famous actors, musicians etc. making us spend time and money on things we don't need just to make those famous people even wealthier. Those in power don't mean only politicians. and judging by the morals and ethics of these people most of them would instantly sell themselves out. And as for regular people, let's not pretend that there's a hidden agenda. Most of us are ready to do very awful things to find ourselves in a better position with full consciousness.
