    Great tests. Good for you to do that giant hill several times.

      It's a tough hill. I thought it would make a great test.

      If you are a bigger guy I’d highly recommend test riding an Ariel Rider Kepler. I am 350 and with its 52v battery, hills like this don’t take near that much effort at all. We are looking at the Aventon for my wife who is much smaller. What a sweet ebike.

    My city is full of hills, I was gona buy this today but now I am not sure it has enough hill climbing ability ( av.2 ). I am 6'4 225, I wanted the Wired Freedom for that reason but
    i live in Canada. The Raev Bullet GTX is 1k more FML and not good for peddling. Any one W any advice please drop A comment.

      @jwillwork3683 I understand. That's why I have a Rad I don't use. Luckily for me, there was an Aventon dealer a couple of hours from my home.

    We have had the Rad Minies for well over a year and have been very happy with their performance so far. But I guess what this means is that IF you and I lost a little weight we would be even more happy LOL!!!

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am trying to lose some weight, I have gone from 330 to 298 today. It would really be good for me, maybe you too. That way, the Rad wouldn't cringe when I walk by it.

    Love hill climb tests on ebikes that I am interested in, thanks. That hill looks similar to the steepest one in my area. If you can get to the top at 300lbs, I should be able to it at 200lbs and I'm 68. It looked to me that the Aventon has more power as your wife seemed to get up the hill on throttle only faster that the Rad.

    An incline of 12° is more than a 21% grade. You're right, that's a heckuva hill. I kinda wanted to see how fast you could get going on that Aventon coming down the hill, but Deb would've probably had a heart attack.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      She would have. On a lessor grade, I have hit 37.5 mph.

      It's a lot of fun getting out on bikes! We really have fun in Key West on our bikes, so easy to get around and park. Just make sure to get good bike locks.

  • @18andlikeit
    @18andlikeit ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I noticed that your seat is to low. You'll get more leg power for hills if you adjust the seat higher so your legs are almost straight on the pedal down stroke. Less stress on your knees as well.

    750W hub motors just do not have enough torque even with motor internally geared as this one is on steep hills. I ride a modified specialized rockhopper with a 1000w mid drive which peaks at about 1600-1700 watts. I am 185 lbs and it climbs hills of that grade at about 15-17 mph, but does not run out of steam. Of course with mid-drive I still have rear cassette gearing advantage over a hub drive so the torque difference is enormous. Careful on downhill. The speeds can get crazy on a long downgrade 40+ mph is common. Be safe.

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you have a great bike. It can get way too fast coming down hill, I hit 37.5 on another steep hill, and I was on the brakes!

    Thanks for the review, I have 2 x 20+% grade hills where I am & it is hard to judge what bike is best so looking at many reviews.
    Have you tried the rad mini on that hill to get a better comparison between the two? How does it compare?

    • @CampingCoastie

      Deb rode her Rad Mini up the hill and my Aventure. The Mini would not get me very much up the hill at all.

    Nice video. Maybe take the hill at 10 to 15 miles an hour and see if it is easier with some momentum. The Velotric Nomad 1 and Hovsco Alpha 26 both seem to have a little more grunt for hill climbs, but the Nomad 1 doesn't have a torque sensor only a cadence sensor.
    I'm expecting my Aventure.2 in a couple of days. I bought a spare battery. but there is currently no battery covers for the Aventure.2 colors.
    Great video. Thanks!

      Thanks. I am really enjoying my Aventure! Yesterday, we rode 29 miles on trails in Georgia. Used a lot of battery on the hills for the first trail, mostly flat on the second part. I had 15% battery left at the end.

  • @preyingmathis2517
    @preyingmathis2517 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Velotric nomad 1 would do it on throttle only. Aventon bikes suck for low end torque. Aventon torque is more geared for mid to high end. If you get a good 15 mph run up to it you may have better luck.

  • @snapshotprophotobooth1864
    @snapshotprophotobooth1864 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes I was disappointed with hills with the adventure 2 , Im 264 pounds and throttle only never makes it up large hills unless I peddle the hell out of it in turbo mode and even in turbo I sometimes don't make it on 12% grade. you reallly have to research your weight and height when buying a Ebike, Everything else on level and small hills is great about the bike, It is probably the best looking bike also. But do your research its better to have power when you need it in a ebike than not. now im buying the Wired cruiser which has lots of power for my size to make it up hills. so do the research regarding your weight or you will be looking for bike number 2 like me. and to tell you the truth I saw your video before buying the AA2 and still purchase this bike and didn't pay to much attention about hills, I wish I had. If your under I would say 210 max the bike should work out for you on hill climbing you will still be peddeling but should be less of a workout.

    Throttle doesn’t work if you’re peddling lol

    • @CampingCoastie
      @CampingCoastie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So then, when going 20 - 28 mph don't use the throttle?

    • @ghostgoat5508
      @ghostgoat5508 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, the throttle only works when not peddling and will take you to 20mph. 20mph and up you need to peddle.

    • @ghostgoat5508
      @ghostgoat5508 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And pressing the throttle at any speed while peddling does nothing.
