Are you allowed to put up an antenna in an HOA? I have heard that HOA’s cannot restrict your right to over the air TV signals if an antenna can be done in a reasonable manner. Can you address this issue? Thanks.

I know SOME HOA documents and CC&Rs do address size and visibility of any type of antenna or dish. Something I didn't mention in the video is that there are actually more CC&Rs than there are HOAs. Some Home Owners Associations have multiple CC&Rs ("Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions," for those who have yet had the pleasure!) that apply to different phases of the development. And there are non-HOA neighborhoods (mine being one) that do have CC&Rs. This is a great question because many Prescott home buyers are often concerned with "the view," so a thorough read of rules & regs is a must-do!

Spending $600k and up on a house and then being subject to nit-picking by an HOA board would drive me insane. Everyone I know (including myself) who has owned a home in an HOA has a horror story to tell, but some of the same people feel the benefits outweigh the detriments. For me, freedom is important so HOAs are something I avoid. A happy medium for me at least would be including a modest community pool/spa in a housing tract.

Thankfully, there are some great, non-HOA neighborhoods in Prescott that, in spite of the lack of oversight, have remained very well-maintained. There seems to be no rhyme or reason when it comes to the choice of HOA amenities. It's basically at the discretion of the developer and what they feel their target market will demand. As you probably know, pools are not a big thing here. With lakes, hiking & biking trails and all of the area's features easily available to everyone, Prescott has its own "amenities"...HOA or not!

Sounds like each home comes with it's own pair of 'Karens'.

We wanted to retire in Prescott ,but rather than live in an HOA community we may just stay here in high tax Facistfornia.

Most of the homes I have liked in Prescott are in HOA's. We are probably going to look somewhere else.

Pinon Oaks, Loma Contante & Thumb Butte Estates are 3 very nice, non-HOA subdivisions...and there are others. The challenge is properties don't stay on the market long in those neighborhoods!

@@azkiltedrealtorMaybe developers should take note of this fact...... What about Prescott Valley ?

@@murfspop P.V. has quite a number of options, from no-HOA to minimum restrictions to communities like Jasper, near Glassford Hill, that has an extensive walking trail system and an elborate clubhouse recently opened (home styles are highly contemporary). In fact, I need to get over there and shoot some video. Prescott Valley does not have the diversity of neighborhoods that you find in Prescott, but it's still a good idea to decide on an area of town that appeals to you, and then look into the different neighborhoods to see what they offer.
