I always decreased by skipping a stitch (I'm self taught) and wondered why my work had holes in it. Thanks so much for this tutorial, it was exactly what I needed!
Omg why did I do this 😂😂😂😂 I am also self taught and TH-cam always was like “oh you are a beginner let’s give you some tutorials that are for experts!” You helped me so much thanks for teaching me this!
Just finished first ball 😄. Gave it to my friends because they play baseball in class during free time😂.they always use crunched up paper so when I gave this to them they were so happy

However, now I've seen you looking so confident in this video, I may just give it a go myself sometime soon. New years resolution decided already!

I’m such a slow learner but your videos help so much and the fact you explain what the increases mean like inches 2 means you put 3 in one stitch, helped so much as other tutorials they’re cover their hands and just do it w/o any explanation 😂
Omg I am 7min into the video and I really appreciate the meaning and sens you are giving to each action. I think I have been struggling mostly because I didn't understand why I was doing what I was asked to and had no clue about the purpose of it all. Thank you so much for explaining so well!
I am so happy to have found your tutorial. I worked 2 days trying to get the hang of crocheting a ball and was ready to give up. I watched your tutorial and then I played it again, working along with each direction you gave. Oh my gosh, it just all fell into place and I finished the ball with great satisfaction. Thank you. Thank you. Your instructions are very easy to follow and you have made my crochet time much happier. I also love the way you instruct to do sc decreases. Awesome.
I love the way you do a "magic circle" so to speak. That is the EASIEST way to create the circle! I've struggled with the magic circle for way too long. This is MARVELOUS! :) I'm just having trouble following your pattern when you put it up on the screen because from that point you move pretty quickly. Still confusing to me as a beginner. But going to rewind (the great thing about videos) and see if I can understand it better. Thank you again. This is GREAT!
I use the sloppy slip knot method that I learned from Stacey Trock. It's similar and I agree, sooooo much easier than all the wrapping around fingers and what not. 😆
I love how fast it goes that I have to pay extremely close attention and have to rewind! I can't find any helpful tutorials that teach everything in one video and that say "for beginners" but really means for experienced and this is no exception! Thank you for all those things, and on to the next one
I just learned how to chain stitch 2 weeks ago and now I just made my first crochet doll head! 😍 You are an awesome teacher! Thank you so much for sharing your talent! 😍
Hey, I just want to thank you for those tutorials videos! The way you're explaining everything is just great and really helpful for someone who just started crocheting and for someone who isn't speaking english natively. Thanks to your videos everything became easier! You're the best! Kisses from Poland!
Okay so I am a very beginner at this. I can only make rectangles. My friend showed me the basics of a circle but it was very confusing. And I gave up. And right now, Christmas is coming. And may I just say, this is the most helpful tutorial I’ve seen. I made a ball!. A whole one. Without it turning into a pringle.!!. It might look a little wonky but it’s my first ball. And I think it slays. So I need to thank you so much for sharing your ball making abilities!!
I made this fort my art teacher when he retired. He was one of my favourite teachers and supported my career choice. He was very happy and thought it was a stress ball. ( he said I was 10 years to late for that)
Thank you for bringing up this decrease stitch technique. I think the small holes that the other technique left were so unsightly. You’re officially my hero!
Omg you have no idea how much this helped me before I hade no experience on amigurumi just flat stuff. All the other tutorials were like put stitches here put stitches there, like how!!!
Thank you so much for this video, your method of the “magic ring” was so easy to follow! I tried to learn from other videos and couldn’t figure it out at all. Thank you thank you! 🙏🙏🙏
To keep myself from losing count, I set do a "count" on a notepad (1234ii1234ii) as a template and then one I type directly below it as I go. It keeps me from losing count. I know exactly how many to do in a row and where I am. I also keep track of my row the same way. It does mean I go slower, but as I get better at it I should be able to find other methods to keep track. I did the same thing with knitting when I first started and I'm now able to go basically on autopilot and I only need to keep track of which row I'm on.
I just started taking an interest in making amigurumi's and would love to make my niece a giraffe, but all the colors are discontinued already!!! I love the way you teach and I hope I can continue to learn from you! Thank you for the great video and keep up the great work!!
Which colors were you looking into for the Giraffe? If you don't mind me asking, which crafts stores are in your area? I'm sure there is some way to find yarn for that giraffe!
You are an absolute life saver! I am new to amigurumi and your tutorial was so easy to follow, I love the way your pattern is written, SUPER easy to follow without all that extra jargon, thank you SO very much! Great work!
I figure there are a million ways for people to post patterns and this simple ball is out there a million different ways. I’m glad my way works for you! ♥️
Magic circle is SUPER easy once you have it down, like everything in life. I think that being taught the tried and true ways FIRST is a great start. Once you've got it all down pat then you can try other ways to see of it looks better etc. because if it doesn't work out then at least you have a base. 'Bad Habits' would be thinking that all these alternative ways are better, since there seem to be several diff ways of doing any one of the handful of basic stitches we have to start out with, and that's where conf7sion sets in! Thank you for explaining the ways that are the basic tried and true, and THEN explaining the alt way and showing. I very much dislike it when channels only show the way THEY think is best, because really, stitches can be very different depending on the angle, the yarn, one's available hooks(which ALSO differ in a frustrating way) and most importantly the way we perceive the stitch, such ad the us and UK version. I fell in TOTAL ABSOLUTELY SMITTEN FROM MY SKULL TO MY TOES with crochet around start of Fall of last year. I've been an artist trying numerous types of media through my life, and finding other ways to CREATE is one of the main things that keeps me happy. Amigurumi is fairly new to me, and I have all these ideas on how to make the cute animals etc. I see in my head, and I love it when I come across channels with the same feeling!
After watching sooo many videos on making these critters I came across your video. Well I found it FANTASTIC. I finally, after so many attempts made my first beautiful mini octopus. Heaps of thanks!!!
Love your instructions! I was so determent to make my amigurumi I made one without a pattern (my circles were far from perfect haha), because I couln't understand how to read these and for stuffing I torn my husband's t-shirt to shreds haha... just waiting for my safety eyes to arrive - this is so addictive!
This really helped I was always struggling to make the magic ring and your way was so much easier and now I have a super cute pink gradient ball tysm 😊
Thank you so much for this video! I watched a tutorial that started with the magic ring and it was so confusing! I haven't taught myself to read a pattern so I just have to wing it.
I really like the way you decrease. Much more seamless. I used a stich marker to mark every decrease so I can easily keep track. I just leave the marker open so it's easy to move. Anyone who does not have stitch markers can use paperclips, even safety pins. I just made one of these and it came out great!
Since this video, I've also started "staggering" both my increases and decreases and it helps a lot with hiding lines, as well! :) Thanks for the kind words and for watching! I always use my tail instead of stitch markers, lol!
Thanks for this, I followed this tutorial and it ended up perfect! Although near the end I changed it slightly. I ended up using it for the head of one of my projects; thank you again!
Wow! Can't wait to try this! I have been wanting to sit down and figure it out. Now, I can watch along as I do with your tutorial. Very well presented. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the invisible decrease, it’s actually invisible 😍 your instructions are very easy to follow. Thanks to you I have made my very first Amigurumi ball 😊
Great video! This was my first time doing an increase and decrease and I was able to follow along. Mine isn't quite as round as yours but I still love it 😊👌👍
Thank you for your tutorial. When increasing with a slip stitch & chain 1, my stitch count was always wrong. I like your way of crocheting around better.
Who disliked this vid? So unnecessary, just move on. Thank you so much for your videos, quarantine has me going crazy and these tutorials are keeping me busy. Once the pattern clicked in my brain, following along was actually super easy. Also you have the cutest patterns! Hope you keep safe and well during these crappy times.
Everyone has different learning styles! :) I just figure the dislikes are people who found other videos that fit their learning style better, lol. I’m glad I was able to help! Keep safe and healthy ❤️
Thanks so much for your awsome tutorials. No matter how long we knit or crochet there is always new things to learn. I also love that u have a base body for multiple animals
This helped me out a great deal. I didn't go with the front loops, as I when with both loops, but I do plan to do both ways later on. Thank you for the help.
The very first ball I’ve made without a pucker at the top, love it! The babies didn’t notice, but I did. Maybe if there’s no pucker, the dog won’t find a spot to pull it apart. We will see.
Great video! You are super entertaining to watch! And that sc decrease, oh man! I’ve been crocheting for 9 years and this is the first I’m learning about this. It’s genius! Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much! This tutorial was so clear and my guy is perfect :) I'm making a tiny hat for him and gifting him to my brother this Christmas. Thank you again! Happy holidays!
thank you so much for showing how to do this. I was asked for a special gift to make and I had never done a amigurumi but I will always at least try and you made it happpen for me so thank you a million!!
This looks like a really good tutorial! At this moment in time I only know up to single crochet, and am reworking how I hold yarn & tension. But will definitely be coming back to this video when I’m ready! I love amigurumi dolls and want to make some of my favorite manga characters!
Amigurumi translates really well into anime characters! One time, I saw this incredible and super detailed version of Chii from Chobits and honestly, I've never been more motivated and envious to create something in my life! If you go on Instagram, some of the stuff people can make is super intense!
Thank you so much for this video. I’m currently working on a project but something kept going wrong and my work would curl a bit. Your video helped me realized what I was doing wrong. Hopefully my project comes out as this is a birthday present for my fiancé.
If you're looking to just make a ball, I made a video on how I do it, together with the formula so you can make one of any size. I also link to other videos on how to make a magic ring, increase and decrease. Hope that's helpful and then you can come back and make a head for Luna! th-cam.com/video/gBtamS68EPE/w-d-xo.html
Deanne Shoyer I see now!! I will definitely be watching alot of your videos and have already subscribed, you’re so pretty and look so kind! Thank you!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️💕❤️💕❤️
I stick a marker in my last increase when I'm doing longer repeats (e.g. sc 10, inc), and same with decreases. When I get to shorter rows of decreases I might keep the marker one or two repeats away, if the marker's getting in the way, though. So I use two markers: one for the first stitch of the row, and one to mark the last increase or decrease I made. Saves me a lot of frustration tbh 😂
That's a good way to go about it! I always end up keeping my marker in my last increase stitch and find that easier to do when I'm just single crocheting around until I start decreasing and then move the tail again to mark where I started.
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial and Kindle instructions! I am thrilled that I was successful in making a ball first try. My arthritic fingers can't manage a MR, but I can manage your method just fine.
I am impressed by the beginning "C" circle : very well done ! I am trying to learn I hope i catch this with your technique that i like the more ! I am searching and searching and so far I am going to your ways !!! Many thanks and best wishes !
I can’t do a real “magic circle” to save my life. I’m dyslexic so my way of crochet is just what I wound up liking with what I could actually get my hands to make. 😅
That is amazing , but the thing is that I think that the "C" circle is actually more magic them the others ! I am trying to learn it : I am glad you shared it ! best wishes !
Thank you for this video. It was so clear and easy to understand. Awesome you don’t do the magic circle. I hate the magic circle. I’m new to crochet and have been lost trying to understand. Yours is the first that made sense. 😊
One thing I have noticed is that each circle increase, my stitches seem to get tighter and tighter to the point I cant get my hook through. Anyone else have this problem?
purple lover 1# ehh sometimes it does. I like to use a bigger crochet needle in the begging to make it easier to get the smaller needle in when I switch. Try that! It’s simple.
I’ve been crocheting (blankets/scarves/etc) since I was like 11 years old (I’m 27 now) and I’m finally going to venture into this. Thanks for the tutorial!
Wrap the yarn 🧶 with your hook, catching the yarn under the hook and then pull the yarn under the stitch you are working the single crochet into. :) Hope this helps!
I cant thank this woman enough for this video, because of u I got my very first amirigumi ball! the other countless tutorials I tried didn't work but this one did and now I have a very cute Lil blueberry amirigumi
In future videos I'm adding a "Pattern Tracker" so I may go through and add some notes to this video which describes the pattern number each time I increase as well!
Girl. Girl, listen. My sister and I struggled for days with these frikkin "magic circle"... but after watching and trying your approach the only "magical" thing about that circle is its stupid complexity in comparison to what you showed in this video. I did it on the first try. Thank you. Thank you _so_ much! Aaaah.... qwq

Thank you so much for this tutorial, it is the MOST informative video ever. I really like doing the front stitches because its the easiest way to crochet.
Do you have a picture of the stitches for when you decrease, to be able to read as I go along? Edit: nvm, I just didn't go far enough in the video yet. Ty for the pics with the video!!!
I made a bunch of these to donate to the animal shelter in my area. They love them!
It would be super easy to place cat nip in the center!

I learned two days ago I’m a starter and this was perfect!
Update! Finally made it and made it well!
I can also do dc, hdc, and tc and have made several scarfs and a bag to start out with!
I like the way you decreased stitches I was taught differently thank you
I'm super confused and frustrated, your hands are moving way too fast for me
@@jmparsons7331 Why don't I have that option? I swear I've seen it before.
@@Kindri9 Click on the gear icon, go to playback speed and adjust the speed to your liking, you're welcome ;)
@Mi Sh yep
so fast
Practice with rainbow look
Thank you so much for this video. I’m currently working on a project but something kept going wrong and my work would curl a bit. Your video helped me realized what I was doing wrong. Hopefully my project comes out as this is a birthday present for my fiancé.
Your instructions are very easy to follow and understand, your videos are very helpful and much appreciated, thank you!
What Amigurumi are you going to make out of your ball? :)
Excellent hidden reduction trick, I've been won over, that's how I'll be doing it from now on
Thanks! I'm glad it helped!
I hate doing the magic ring... I think I like your version better. Thanks!
You gotta find what works for you! If there is a will, there is a way! 😁
this is a very clear tutorial and i still can’t make it look right so i think i’m just incapable of this
Agree even on playback changed it’s still a bit too fast esp for learners!
Deanne Shoyer thank you!!!! started yesterday and im halfway thru my ball just cant decrease
pee :p oh yay! Did you see I have a video on how to decrease?
Deanne Shoyer I see now!! I will definitely be watching alot of your videos and have already subscribed, you’re so pretty and look so kind! Thank you!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️💕❤️💕❤️
Thank you for the written pattern included 💛 and for making the tutorial in general
I’m so glad this helped you! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I want to eventually do the magic circle well but for now this works for me! lol
I end up rage quitting every single tutorial I do :>
relatable
I am so glad I found your channel. Very clear video and instructions. Thank you
I hate magic rings, i just cannot understand them. This worked perfectly ♥ thank you so much
I like how these work better! :D
Ye same here
it's been 3 hours but i've finished it and it's perfect, thank youu
anyone else here 2023
Yaaaaaa
Yes indeedy!
N me :(
This video is great for beginners, and even though I was just looking for a pattern, this tutorial was super helpful!
One thing I have noticed is that each circle increase, my stitches seem to get tighter and tighter to the point I cant get my hook through. Anyone else have this problem?
clancycats yep
Hmmm. Maybe your holding your yarn to tight? That’s happened to be before and I was holding it wayyyy to tight.
Toxic Toast ya i think i was does it matter what crochet needl u use tho
purple lover 1# ehh sometimes it does. I like to use a bigger crochet needle in the begging to make it easier to get the smaller needle in when I switch. Try that! It’s simple.
Toxic Toast ya ive been trying with a 3.0mm needle dno tho
I’ve been crocheting (blankets/scarves/etc) since I was like 11 years old (I’m 27 now) and I’m finally going to venture into this. Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for this amazing tutorial!! ^.^
Thank you for sharing this video tutorial. I'm just now starting to crochet amigurumi. Hopefully will finish my dolls before Christmas.
What. Do. You. Mean. By. Wrap. And. Pull?!?!?!
2:46
Wrap the yarn 🧶 with your hook, catching the yarn under the hook and then pull the yarn under the stitch you are working the single crochet into. :) Hope this helps!
Sorry if I sounded rude, I was just frustrated. Thank you!
I cant thank this woman enough for this video, because of u I got my very first amirigumi ball! the other countless tutorials I tried didn't work but this one did and now I have a very cute Lil blueberry amirigumi
Awwww, that’s so awesome! Thank you so much for commenting and I’m so glad this tutorial helped you!
I wish you would say the actual number rather than increase
She mentions that each row is increased by 6
In future videos I'm adding a "Pattern Tracker" so I may go through and add some notes to this video which describes the pattern number each time I increase as well!
So helpful! I have reviewed several tutorials and this one finally gave logical steps easy to follow.
I don’t understand
Real
I don't understand why are u being ok mean your a mean mean man
Same

Slowing down and zooming in might help
Girl. Girl, listen. My sister and I struggled for days with these frikkin "magic circle"... but after watching and trying your approach the only "magical" thing about that circle is its stupid complexity in comparison to what you showed in this video. I did it on the first try. Thank you. Thank you _so_ much! Aaaah.... qwq
This is the nicest comment I’ve gotten all week ❤️
Sorry I find you talk way to fast & the picture at times is a bit hazy! I don't think this is for beginners. But thanks

Thank you so much for this tutorial, it is the MOST informative video ever. I really like doing the front stitches because its the easiest way to crochet.
Im about to quit crocheting.
Edit: Yes guys I gave up it's shoved in a corner of my room
I literally feel the exact same way lol
Same
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy😢
Nooo don’t! You guys can do it!
Girly I feel the same way but still girly how long have you been doing it? I feel like it too but I remember I have been doing it for 1 day! LOL😊

Way too much chattering rather than getting into the turtorial
Double tap to skip ahead if its such an issue for you
Thanks for the video. I just completed my first amigurumi ball.
Awesome! How did it turn out? :)
2:09 its starts
Do you have a picture of the stitches for when you decrease, to be able to read as I go along?
Edit: nvm, I just didn't go far enough in the video yet. Ty for the pics with the video!!!
This video was very helpful. I could actually SEE what was going on. Thank you so much! ❤
Just finished the ball❤
Tool inspiration and filled mine up with tissue ^ ^
