What a beautiful explanation and interpretation of one of the “scariest” books in the Bible! Yet, Jesus shows us not to be afraid, for it (Death) will not be The End, but rather an unveiling of the real and everlasting Truth. The Truth that Our Savior has risen from the grasp of Death, as He predicted He would, and more powerfully, if we follow His Way and His Truth, WE TOO shall overcome Death and rise up to met Him. It’s almost profoundly simple, to me, at least! God Bless you, Bishop Barron! You have been gifted to speak His word…and you do it so well!! Much love to you!
As a Protestant, I’m finding Bishop Barron messages more relevant during these times as our evangelical churches are turning away from Christ and embracing politics………I’m so glad I can listen to him weekly…
I hear you, Fred! I had to walk out of a lot of Protestant churches because they weren't talking about Jesus anymore. I'm becoming a Catholic now thanks to Bishop Barron.
I find that I cannot get enough of Bishop Barron's interpretations of Christianity/Catholicism. He takes words that I have heard my entire life and brings them into a new reality. He is truly led by Christ and brings a powerful message for these times.
Bishop Barron's style of homiletics is thorough, riveting, refreshing, endearing and highly enlightening. Being a scholar par excellence, he's also humble and relatable. His ability to teach and break down complex issues is phenomenal. May God bless him as he continues to feed our souls.
He often has insight and he always has knowledge, but he doesn't often have a word from the Lord because he's working from his own study and intellect. To a lot of people that is still going to really wow them and maybe even penetrate but he's not tuning into the Holy Spirit and getting a word from God in his preparation and it shows.
My name is Dismas Peter from Tanzania, always following your sermons daily, thank you Bishop for your good work. As some famous protestant once said, if the apocalyptic prophecies of the Messiah's first coming were proved to be literal, and the allegorical views of the paganized Jews proved false, we have in that strong evidence that Revelation and other second advent prophecies are also literal. The Jews are still waiting on the First to allegorical happen. You don't want to be in that number when the saints come marching in, cause after the Second there will be no Third. Call it crazy if if it makes you superior, but.

@Amelia: Revelation is no more frightening than Daniel or Ezekiel. Besides, if you read it with hope you’ll get a lot more out of it than reading it with fear.
You always make so much sense out of God’s word. You have taken a gospel reading that I always thought was the physical end of the world and made it into GOSPEL-(good news)! Love you Bishop Barron

This is one of the best sermons...probably ever. I would like to perhaps push it a little bit further to say that not only would the Jews have the veil pulled back in revelation in their generation, but that all Christians must have the veil pulled back every generation. All of the things that past generations used for navigation and basic survival (including politics I might add) are all inherently good things that God wants us to use for our benefit and His glory. This is certainly true in our generation. We must beware that should we become so attached to the goods of this world that we forget the very foundation of those goods, (which is Jesus [John 1:3]) than we live in a generation that must have the veil drawn back, yet again, for us all to see who is reality and goodness itself. I would argue that this has been necessary for every generation. What is one of the key principles of us having this veil pulled back? Among other methods, I believe that the most certain one is Holy Suffering...offering up to God our spiritual and physical tragedies. You'd be surprised how well that works. Look to Him on the Cross the next time you go to Mass and gaze at His suffering; His suffering that redeemed the world. God bless you all and God bless you Bishop Barron.
Once again Bishop Barron unlocks some of the mystery of scripture, enabling an ordinary lay person like me to understand God's word in a profound way. God bless you Bishop Barron 🙏☦️🛐
Thank you Bishop Barron for this explanation. It is refreshing to hear at my 81 years. May God bless you and please continue to nourish us with your words.
Listening to Bishop Barron’s sermon again after a year, it still resonates clarity, deep understanding and uplifts my heart, mind and spirit. Praise God our Father, Son & Holy Spirit.
Greetings Bishop Barren, I am a Catholic; I woke up last Sunday 11/14, and was reading, praying, etc. I asked the Lord to please open me up to a scripture that he wanted to reveal to me. I opened up instantly to Matthew 24: 29-31. I read the scripture and of course was in awe, but not sure why this particular scripture. I then go to Mass, and this scripture (other verses akin to it) is read at the Mass!! Imagine my surprise and AWE!!!! I now have a better understanding of why this unveiling has occurred! Thank you!!!
As someone who once cried hysterically in fear and dread because she visually saw a star fall me was always scared of being rejected by Jesus and being branded “not good” and instead of actually expecting and being happy to be in union with him at his return I actually dread it. This message actually does bring clarity and some sense of peace. Our old way s and understanding will continue to be shaken by his resurrection and glory. Praise Jesus Christ forever.
Thank you so much for your sermon today. I have been feeling such anxiety with current events especially a mom of such little kids. I feel now a sense of peace due to watching this video.
Thank you, Bishop Barron, for a way to interpret Jesus' statements, His amazing resurrection from death weakens the leverage evil uses by threatening violence and death over the good. Jesus wins.
It is refreshing to hear true interpretation of scripture and what it means in the midst of the crackling of the voices of fools crowding the internet.
Everytime I went to the church and hear other priest's sermon, I always think what would Bishop Barron deliver for this Gospel reading. But I always think of the mass as where God is present. Being born in the Philippines, out Catholic faith is deeply set on us. However, we do not have serious and charismatic catechist teacher like Bishop Barron. So we are always at loss and there is a time that I was totally lost on what is the meaning of Eucharist. Perhaps, many of the Catholic lay people are also in the same dilemma. Hence what I observe most of the people who attend to mass without any forethought about what the mass means end up missing the whole point of it. And add to that is the absence of good GPS which will guide us. Hence, a lot will fall to evangelical denomination without realizing that they are turning from the real church who has been true to Christ's word and celebrating what Christ wanted us to do. The moment I realize the importance of the Holy Eucharist which was supplemented by the teaching videos of Bishop Barron, it gave me a new meaning on what it is. Once again, you are a God gift Bishop Barron...
*"We Christians who received the message of the Ressurection, we have received apocalypses to reveal the deepest truth of things and now we need to govern our lives by this new power."* - BISHOP BARRON
WOW. What joy you reveal, Bishop Barron, in teaching this nuanced unveiling as Good News rather than end times frightening news. The shift magnifies the power of the Scripture and its impact on 21st century Catholic catechesis. What a spiritual Father you are to refocus us in Jesus' resurrection wherein the reordering of all the 'signs' previously bound by the power of death now fall out. This is high praise by which Catholics close out our liturgical year---not with frightening foreboding, but awe & gratitude for the glorious truth revealed in Jesus' death & resurrection. Profoundly taught. Praise God who speaks through you, Bishop Barron.
I've never understood this scripture before! And also, your explanation of the words "apocalypse" and "revelation" in conjunction with the scripture really helped me. Bishop Barron, you provide such a needed service to this community, and I hope you know how appreciated you are.
Thank you, Bishop Barron for this beautiful homily. And of course, following Jesus’ words about the Temple, there was the literal destruction of the Temple and the city of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
This homily has a great insight, that a new order of the ages dawned with the Resurrection of Christ, which gives us new purpose in life now while we await the End of Time.

I really would like to go to confession; please pray for me.
Matthew 27:50-54 (NIV) 50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
