    Hi Simon could you do a video about sternum pain during dips? Thanks

    • @timinator1178
      @timinator1178 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a symptom of simply not being used to the dip movement. I used to experience a lot of sternum pain during and after the exercise, but after doing the movement enough, the sternum pain has gone away completely, even when doing harder variations like archer dips or Russian dips. Weighted dips also do not cause any pain at all for me, but I also now have a lot of experience doing dips.
      As long as there is no shoulder pain in the movement, sternum pain is not a cause for concern. It goes away eventually.

      Wondering the same thing. Did you ever find the answer? From the video it looks like he has it just a little wider than shoulder width.

    What is the difference of leaning forward with your legs behind you like you are doing in the video and leaning back with your legs in front of you? I have seen others that recommend leaning the other way. Wondering if it really matters much either way....

      Calisthenicsmovement said that putting your legs forward is more for your chest and your legs more in the back for your shoulders.

    What could cause sternum pain in dips?

    • @perotal
      @perotal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you going way past 90 degrees ?

    • @SimonsterStrength
      @SimonsterStrength  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Costochondritis.
      You can try reducing range of motion or maintaining scapular protraction to reduce stretching of the pecs in the dip. Improving mobility can also be beneficial.
      The most important thing to consider is load management and to ensure you’re not exceeding your body’s capacity to recover.
