Last year, we revealed that ex-Stig Ben Collins drives a 997 911 Turbo as a daily driver. But in 2023, he has added a car to the Stig garage, and this one is an absolute peach.

No one said daily, I’d hazard a guess he bought it as an investment 😉
Thanks Mike, got a Carvertical report on my mini JCW Coupé and all is well with the world 👍👍
Wouldn't mind a Car Vertical service in Australia. It'd be pretty handy
Can we please get someone who can speak properly to give these interviews? The dude in the yellow hat's speech impediment significantly impedes our ability to enjoy the guests and the information. Get someone who is able to speak properly to replace this kid. Thank you.
I do love seeing Ben talk about things he's amazing at.
Go to his channel, it's literally him talking and driving
Some say he's amazing at tap dancing... And that he once put Sammy Davis Jr to shame on the stage. All I know is, he's not The Stig, he's The Stig's book writing cousin.
Please DriveTribe, more Stig!
Mr. Collins is an amazing presenter with an encyclopedic knowledge of cars and how to make them do what you want. Just don't ask him about ducks. Amazing content.
And keep him away from horses and Scouts.
He does have his own criminally under subscribed channel
It was a smear campaign by the TG trio that tried to ridicule his knowledge of ducks, shame on them. Some say that he thinks the speed of light is slow and that his preferred pronoun is V8 all we know is....
Please DriveTribe replace Mike, Guy is so dull.
**Thonk** thats a nice block of italian CHEESE.
Ben is incredibly polite and doesn't want to be condescending. The response to "both are automotive legends" is "one of them has rally history, and one of them doesn't".
But with all due respect, I didn't even know about the Rover, absolutely not a legend
@@AdminAbuse Mike was clearly making a joke, hence Ben's openly amused laugh at the suggestion that both are [similar[ legends. Ben wasn't being polite, he was playing along with the joke.
Power move from the Stigster. Delta Integrale is gorgeous and certainly a driver's car.
Probably the only car I can't put out of my mind and never could. But a Mazda 323 GTR is pretty kewl too. Only wish it was currently drivable.
15:46 The roof liner sagging is a very common issue with cars of that age. It is fabric glued to a layer of foam, which deteriorates over time. It doesn't matter if you drive it or not, the foam will just fail at some point. It is a pretty straightforward fix, although time consuming. For common cars like a Golf 1/2/3 you can get direct replacements because it happens that often.
Mk1 golf headlining is perforated vinyl held in place with metal rods, completely different to mk2/3 golf headlining
Not even of that age - my 987 2010 Cayman S had the same problem after a few years - it is a common European car problem
@@marknorman1084 Yeah, I forgot the Golf 1 had different liner. Golf 2 and 3 are terrible though.
Ben: „I hate modified cars.“
James: „Standard!“
Having experienced the 80s tuning madness, I couldn‘t agree more.
80's "tuning" was mainly sticking plastic bits onto cars, rather than improving any performance! before ecu maps and aftermarket turbos became a thing really.
@@huzcerWhere? In Germany amd Italy afaik it wasn't just that. Increasing cc was popular, mingling with injection system, electronic or carburators, exausts, intake improvements, suspension improvementa, chassis improvement wasn't as fancy as nowdays but roll cages were present, spoilers so so, engine swaps also.
@@JohnyMcNeal well ok how popular? I mean a lot of hassle and boring out engines etc expensive and risky to get some modest bhp increase compared to today. I'm talking about the UK scene. Turbo injection was a game-changer and that's what it has all revolved around really in terms of people adding power to non-supercar cars that cost lest money. and ancillaries to make the car able for the power increase.
Modded cars are truly pathetic and embarrassing.
@@sandersson2813that's a wild take
Would love to see Ben Collins return to Top Gear as a host along side Chris Harris, his dialogue, flow and personality in this vid alone got me hooked.
Having Mike as a mate is costly affair, encouraging one to buy toys 😆 Love it, we need more mates like this in the world
I remember spotting an identical Integrale in a local car park in 1990. Sod Cosworth's. This was the holy grail as far as I was concerned. 33 years on and they still look amazing. I agree with Mike and Ben rwgarding those glorious alloys too. Find another 80's car that has aged as well as an Integrale.
there r loads i can think of 2 bms and at least one merc then mk1 gte golf gti its 70s really though 205 renault 5 ect go for 90s theres loads more
Ben and Mike have a great rapport on screen - The films that they are in together have the right balance of humour and information - Really enjoyable stuff...more please :)
You almost broke Ben at the end there! The Rover is too legendary for him to contain his enthusiasm!
Ben's great, bring him on to the channel more, the both of you work really well together!
Some say, that he once bought a Delta Integrale, and that he has better taste than Mike. (Sorry Mike)
Some say that he could personally revive Top Gear and make it a success again!
What a perfect little daily, well done Ben, living the dream.
U ain't drove a ek9 that's the dream mate
I wouldn’t say perfect, reliability would be questionable for a start!
What an awesome car, I never knew much about Lancia’s (American) until a few years ago but they truly have a beautiful look to them, almost as if a Ferrari and a hot hatchback of the 80’s had a love child
I loved the 10 years I had with my non evo integrale, took it everywhere, from the top of Scotland to Monaco and it always left me deeply in love. it was a very sad day when I had to sell it, happy to say, it still lives on in Australia where is goes out to play in the odd rally.
I never knew Alexander Armstrong was the Stig.
"some say he drives the hf in the mountain roads pretending he's takumi delivery tofu" all we know he's the stig!
Oh .. You to got some great carvibes going between the two of you. Do more content of this kind. Dense in terms of info still relaxed and not obsessed with being “fantastic” all the time.
To put it short: GREAT. Loved it.
Mike's face when Ben says he hates modified cars at 06:06 🤣🤣
Great choice - love the delta integrale. I’m on my second now, definitely benefit from regular use proper servicing. You’ll have a smile on your face too.
Love that we're getting more Ben. He's great for content. Knows his stuff
Ben's bought an absolute gem! That car is legendary
I thought it was going to be LS swapped Yugo, but I guess Integrale is fine too.
Yugo can't be a daily nowdays trust me, tried it like 2 decades ago. With roll cage and more advanced engine and transmission (fore turbo family suits it), well with more advanced everything it's like a swift small animal, not most agile one, not the fastest one but sort of better then old modified minis by noticeable margin. Still even of added a/c really hard to use it as a daily.
28K now worth 38K because it was previously owned by The Stig
Absolute steal, very well done. I was just looking today for these. I had a G plated Monza 16V for 6 years about 18 years ago and just wondered what it would cost to get another. Found a lovely example for 50 odd K. So once again, well done and I hope you do use it............often.
Total hot hatch pinup right there! I have a Japan 147 GTA, I share Ben’s excitement!
The busso engine in your Alfa 147 GTA is the best production V6 ever made!
The 1990s were the golden age for automotive tech. Once you've got EFI and ABS that's all the electronics you need. Everything else is just unnecessary complications that in some cases, actually take away from the driving experience.
The Delta is a dream car, great find!
It's funny how 'humble' the cars are that racing drivers use to potter around. I seem to remember Michael Schumacher saying he had a Fiat Croma and Damon Hill saying he had an Audi A3. Makes perfect sense of course but I would have expected things more like, say, a BMW M3 or Subaru Impreza or Mitsubishi Evo as they are practical but great to drive. Just my two pennies.
Love it. There used to be a second hand car dealer where I live that had Integrale Evos for sale (a yellow and a red one). As a kid i'd often look at them as we drove past the show-room.
Now the showroom has closed and it's a camping shop which is sad.
Always loving the content with Ben! More of this please :)
Absolutely incredible amazing car and amazing chat cheers guys!
Identified the silhouette and looked at the video to see why you used an Integrale shape over your new car. What a pleasant surprise. I had a G reg 8v kat I used as a daily when nobody wanted them. Fantastic car and never gave me any problems.
Respect!! Lancias are my favorite cars of all time. Specially the Stratos and the Fulvia.
I'm super glad Ben I mean stiggy is gonna go save iconic or rare cars from the landfill too
I enjoyed Ben as Stig but i love Ben as Ben! He really is the real deal in both formats😊
I love those old hot hatches. My first car was an 85 GTI and I have a 2-door 06 rabbit (3 miles on OD when I bought it) with an ECU tune. It oversteers. That will be fixed. A blast to drive on those in the hills. I wish Grand Tour would do some roads in the Ozarks- which rival any English or Scottish twistie
Sorry Mike but Ben’s car is sooo much cooler
You can tell Mike realizes that at some point when Ben is talking about the car, and Mike looks like he's gonna lose his lunch.
Delta HF Turbo i.e had the same wheel design (maybe an inch smaller), interior and dash.
Mine looked exactly the same inside as Ben's 'grale.
Great front wheel drive fun, handled amazingly well.
Mine too. Monza Red. It was my first car and I miss it to this day.
I have a Delta HF Turbo 1600 right hand drive, iv had it 20 years and I love it!!!
The stig is balling, his car collection is becoming legendary!
Love the fact that the stig wants an SD1 😊
Ben always seems humble and chill.
Sweet!!! I was thinking Mk2 Golf GTI from the thumbnail but this is much cooler!
Stigs Integrale is absolutely amazing! Super cool!
Delta Intergrale was always one of my dream cars, incredible choice there Ben. Lets see what the boys get up to next ehh.
That profile looks exactly what it is...awesome!!!
Brilliant choice Ben! Awesome driver who really knows his cars and how to drive !
I had a Delta GT…only 1300/ but loved it….a similar thing to the Sud, but more comfortable. Pedals same position as the Sud.
I had a Beta 1600 too….same thing with offset pedals
Love the ‘grale’ what a cracking 3 car garage this makes with the defender and the 997!
I have a defender as my daily and a 182 Trophy as my fun car, cracking value compared to slightly older hot hatches at well under 10k currently.
Mike, had my same moment of 'wow' when I was driven in a Renault 21 turbo as a kid
Nice one Ben 👌🏼
Im betting all kinds of people had you pegged for something “exotic” or a super car as your daily driver.
Im of that opinion too
These old cars need to be driven and out there on the road .
I want to do up an old XR or something similar from back when I was younger.
It’s all the power that you’ll ever need too,You kinda don’t need 300 plus horse power to enjoy a car
Will be keeping my eye out for this on the B roads south of Bristol 👍🏻
Awesome !!! Back in the 90's one of theses got down to second choice out of 10.... but lost to a UR Quattro just because of LHD and poor visibility when overtaking ...The Quattro didn't disappoint either.
What a cracking car! Fantastic choice for Ben as well...
when most people drive and interview, its quite a casual ride. When Ben interviewed while he drives he's clearly got his foot down! 🤣
I must agree that that Delta Integrale looks stunning! I love!
I had a 2001 Lancia Y (basically a first gen Punto) and it also had some petrol leak. Usually it comes from the pump underneath the rear seat.
Imagine putting your car up for sale, then THE Ben Collins comes along to buy it.
Lovely car. Would love to see a crossover with Harry's Garage where Ben reviews Harry's collection....
Ben should thoroughly test all of Harry's garage cars..... properly.
Great idea. Wind up with a Fulvia - Integrale pub run.
ben ye smashed it kidd legendary machine son yemann 💯💪
I knew it was an Integrale from the thumbnail. Beautiful!
Great video. This may sound lame, but never knowing anything about Lancias, I fell in love with the Delta via Test Drive Unlimited 2.
Fab car. I’ve just gone back even further but of the same family - a 1973 S3 Fulvia coupe. Get a 1600HF to restore though.
Very happy on this ! Hello from Torino
Wonderful to finally hear him speak!
Fantastic car. Although I dont think I'd want to use that daily through a salty UK winter.
Ben spoke about getting a intergalle years ago quality that he did looks lovely too
Nicely done Ben. One of the best 90s cars.
Absolutely love that Integrale
If you are anywhere near Bristol, try STS Trimming in Long Ashton for the headlining.
Ben is so cool, amazing to see him do his stuff
You know you're on the right track when the Stig himself buys a car off your dream car list! Love it
Exactly what I was expecting him to buy, or well, that or the Evo. Brilliant car!
Ben, we always love to see more of you please
Mike never had a chance...he brought a knife to a gun fight with that Rover
Of course it is a Delta Integrale. Not disappointed 👍
And there is a program called Lanciatrek that displays the ECU data to help analysis.
Viton lined hoses to stop the fuel smell and integralingham has a video on roof lining refurbishment.
Great seeing Ben so animated on his new purchase.
The fact that both Ben & Harris both the same version of Delta speaks volumes, I’ll have to & find a Alfa 155 Q4
Cool Car, Nice Finishing.
Ben is such a car nerd and I absolutely love it.
I love the bravery of comparing a Rover with a Lancia Delta Integrale - let's repeat that with an italian accent and corresponding hand gestures - Lancia Delta Integrale, in terms of legendaryness
It does corner very well, glide it through the gambon corner!
What a great find! They are some of the coolest hot hatches ever built.
'Rover in the garage'? Ah, I see a blown 'Auntie' 110 in stunning two-tone beige & whitewalls : )
Brilliant choice Ben - What a car! A great investment. I'm very jealous...
Saw an absolute basketcase of a Rover SD1 on a Dutch auction website a couple of months ago. The thing was, it had a TWR bodykit! It'd be awesome to see you guys fix it up if you could find it (it's gone now). And it'd be LHD of course...
love seeing more of Ben
I love the song at the end hahah
I didnt know that was the Stig !!! haha, amazing hatchback he has there ...
Great car. Watched them rallying on Madeira’s hairpins in the early 90s, amazing. Wonder what the LHD is like on UK B roads…?
I'm not keen on red personally, but absolutely love this. What a great choice. One of my dream cars, for sure!
Some say he has been driving an old lancia. Nice car Ben. Im sure Jeremy is happy about it too.
a collection tour would be great, curious what he'd think is best for him after driving hundreds of different cars
Great choice, Ben.
Wow, Ben, what a find.
What a beautiful car Ben , a legend with character
