  • The universe runs with a silent yet uninterrupted rhythm of rotation, evolution and substitution. This nonstop cycle involves certain patterns and actually defines time. Mathematically speaking, a span of time could be calculated and captured in terms of beats, the measuring unit of rhythms. Rhythms are inseparable part of Music and this Music, in turn, is indispensable for Dancing. Understanding the structure of rhythm and judging the given beat value are most important for a dancer irrespective of forms and style. Practically, effective maintenance of rhythm in executing a dance-work is only possible when a technically correct process of rhythm application is undertaken and accomplished thoroughly. Every human being experience the very first rhythm from heart beats, thus, we have an in-built pulse that could be strongly sensed. This basic feel of tempo creates an awareness and further serves as foundation for developing the inherent ‘sense of rhythm’. In advance stages, Dancers or musicians break this basic rhythm down to create syncopated beats to add variation and beauty to the dance routines. With these rich changes in forming the base, an artiste can achieve diversity and glorify the art form. In other words, every dancer should have a complete knowledge about the related rhythm pattern to justify the learning. To make this training possible for the students of Saraswat Sanskriti Kendra, a workshop-cum-seminar named AVARTANA (Episode-I) is organized.
