    I got one a couple of years ago, might be a 10 inch, but it has a manual oiler. And the chain cuts fast. That one acted like it needed a new chain or a good sharpening. I would be manual oiling this one to help the bar last longer. Thanks for the review, man.

    Bought this a few weeks ago and love it. My favorite part is that it is 'oil-free', so you never have to provide oil to it. My first job for it was taking down a 4" thick square mailbox post. When right through it in about 5 seconds. Because it's only 8"...I'd imagine larger tree trunks are out of the question...but it's been great for small/medium jobs. Well worth it for the $99 price.

    Got a newer version of this one, with the battery on the side, a couple of weeks ago.
    Used it to cut down a full hedge (ca. 30 meters) last weekend.
    Worked like a charm, and I did it all on one battery ( 9Ah).

    Thx for posting. I got both the 8" chainsaw and the 22" hedger for $99 with 4ah batteries. The hedger is more useful & worth the price paid. Ryobi should charge less for the chainsaw because it lacks auto-lube & no safety paddle, plus they should have designed it with a pole mount to reach high up limbs. I wouldn't cut dry wood, to harsh on wear n tear, it mostly for greenwood and I still use wd40 on chain before cutting so it'll last longer. Walmart has replacement chains 2 for $12?
    I'd like to switch it out to a 10" bar & chain. That toe guard is stipid. 100% will leave it off.

    I'd be tempted to put it against the Dewalt Flexvolt recip saw I won from you last year. I've been using that to cut out a bunch of small trees and I think the Flexvolt might be faster with a 3 tpi Diablo or Milwaukee blade. My one handed Milwaukee might tie with that Ryobi. Weight can make a difference too.

    • @Walker615
      @Walker615 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used a Ryobi reciprocating saw for cutting 3 and 4 inch thick vines, and it is S L O W. It's okay for doing a few, but the chainsaw is a lot faster with less effort.

    • @plaid11
      @plaid11 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Walker615 yeah, I could see that with the Ryobi one. I have the Milwaukee Sawzall and with a 9” carbide blade, it cuts through a 4” branch in 10-15 seconds. Blades make a big difference in reciprocating saws. I do have a chainsaw too and that gets through a 4” branch in less than 5 seconds but then I have to clean it up afterwards. So it’s not great for smaller jobs because of that but my Sawzall can just cut a few branches and put it away, no clean up

    No Oiler is a deal breaker for me to even give it a shot to disappoint me! I have the “new last year” 18v 10”makita, beastly little saw!! I’ll continue to use my m18 fuel hackzall with diablo pruning blades. I’d like to get one of those m12 chainsaws whenever they finally decide to run a good deal. Even then, it’ll be a fun toy, but won’t replace the hackzall w/pruning blade for this light work, just out of diversity of the tool combined with ease of maintenance and ability to use in the dirt.
    All this said, if I could’ve found one of these during the Ryobi days promo, I would’ve got one to play with. But I drug my feet too long, and then they were gone.
    You should do a head to head against that new Ryobi one-handed recip with a 9” pruning blade!!
