As a Rams fan, I was absolutely appreciating this guy’s punts all night. Preferably would never see him punt cuz that would likely mean more scoring, but my goodness did he have himself a night.
Same, When he sped up to get the ball off quicker to make sure they couldn't block it that was a really smart play because the only thing that could have got them back in the game was a punt block for a td. Great situational awareness
It cracks me up how many times in random football videos (and some non-football) I see comments about Issac Punts now, congrats on taking an easy to remember name and a simple focused niche and turned it into a movement.
Is it just me, or can you see the influence of Aussie punters in his style? Especially with regards to the abbreviated follow though. I grew up playing Rugby League, then switched to Aussie rules as a kid in Australia. Rugby League and Union general play kicks have also gone from having more in common with American football punters, so essentially kicking drop punts. Would love to see you do a video on this Isaac...
What I absolutely love about your posts is that they help me understand just how sophisticated the punter’s role is. It’s not merely a boot on a ball, but there are strategic considerations and physical nuances in how they are implemented. Nice work.
I heard the 3rd punt on the radio (the one out of bounds at the 4). The radio guys said right then and there that that punt might have sealed the game.
of course they had a chance. That would of been a game changing play, but instead it flipped the field and Sam would later get sacked and fumble for a Rams TD
No curses....this vikings team never had a franchise QB all season and were projected to win only 6 games. A team is cursed when they are as good as the Lions and choke in the playoffs, like the Vikings team in 1999 that went 15-1 and was destroying everyone only to lose in the NFC championship game because of a missed chip shot FG.
@jqentertainment6966 dude they were favored to beat the Rams. They had the division in their grasp and they choked. They're definitely cursed. 14 wins and nothing to show for it
@whosaidthat84 they were not picked to beat the rams, everyone was expecting the Rams to win. Record doesn't matter if you watched any vikings games this year, they barely beat bad teams and never beat a good team all year. They were projected to win 6 games this year with a fill-in QB. The division was never in their grasp. Lions are superior
It kind of looks like a glitch when that punt doesn't get blocked. I had to replay it a few times, because I don't know how that ball didn't get blocked. That Vikings defender is going to have nightmares about that play for the rest of his life!
Raiders Punter, Ray Guy, was famous for hitting the "coffin corner" by consistently landing his punts inside the 10 yard line and often much closer to the goal line.
The missed block punt was a huge play of the game that could of made this a totally different game. Vikes were down a touchdown and would have had the ball in scoring position, instead they get it on their own 10 and have to go the length of the field
We have quarterbacks in the commentators booth, who by default know defense a little. We now have retired refs on call in the booth to give us the "lawyer" angle. We have roving microphones on the sidelines to cover the medical tent and backstage drama. But Specual Teams? To the networks it remains simply the space where the entire production company prepares to throw the broadcast to commercial. The stats crew begin to scramble looking for patterns to feed the booth, so the talent has a narrative to lead with on the return from commercial. At least some of us have Isaac to showcase The Plays That Time Forgot.
Anyone that doesn’t think that field position is not an important aspect of professional football is crazy. The better teams in the NFL are great at the field position game.
Once I thought that special teams was for guys that couldn't be trusted to play offense or defense. Now I think players that don't play on special teams can't be trusted.
Can the medical tent be used to change underwear? Because I'm pretty sure he needed a change after seeing someone come in totally unblocked and just barely missing.
Off topic I’m afraid but I’m hoping one of you guys can explain something. How was it that the Chargers had home field advantage when the Vikings had a much better regular season record. ( I know it was in AZ because of the fires but Chargers were the home team). I’m in the UK trying to understand the finer points of this sport.
The NFL features 2 16 team conferences (afc, nfc) these conferences are each split into 4 four team divisions (north, south, east, west) For the playoffs each conference invites 7 teams. the top four seats are given to the Division winners while the bottom 3 "wildcard" seats are given to the teams with the most wins who failed to win their division So in this case the 10 win rams won the nfc west are given the 4 seed vs a 14 win vikings who lost the nfc north leaving them as a 5 seed wildcard Better seed hosts playoff games
How did the Vikings win 14 games. That team looked horrible last night. Sam Darnold's stock really dropped after these last 2 games. Now it will be easy for the Vikings to let him go.
Not rooting for either, but what a bad call by the refs on the roughing the kicker when the back threw the defender into the kicker who was clearly trying to not hit him and even rolled to the side to avoid him.
Idk why people think my rams are a joke lol now I will say it’s a slim chance we win against the eagles but I’m just happy we proved a lot of people wrong calling us trash why we’re casually beating people’s favorite teams lol LETS GO RAMS 🐏 😎
I don’t know why I thought the chargers and Vikings would win in the playoffs knowing their history
We should have known better man
Chargers and Vikings. These are the two "softest" teams in NFL playoff history despite having made it to the SB.
Hamburger is only good when he can cheat bigly
@@Paul_Sleeping To be fair, the Chargers were facing off against the Texans, who aren’t exactly known for deep playoff runs of their own either…
This is my first season being along but I heard of the curses. I should have known.
The punt that went through the guys arms was amazing to see
Edit nvm, it’s a whiff
I think he was afraid of running into the kicker.
From certain angles it looks like he visibly punted through his head without triggering his hit box a la video games.
Didn't go through his arms went under his right arm
@@alistercaddy1208exactly. It’s like he suddenly became intangible. At least no danger of running into the kicker
i have a new appreciation for punting because of your channel, I will miss it during the off season
I can't believe he didn't block that punt. The punter moved his leg just enough.
As a Rams fan, I was absolutely appreciating this guy’s punts all night. Preferably would never see him punt cuz that would likely mean more scoring, but my goodness did he have himself a night.
A punter is like a plumber: The one guy you never want to call on, but you're damn glad he's there when you need him.

Same, When he sped up to get the ball off quicker to make sure they couldn't block it that was a really smart play because the only thing that could have got them back in the game was a punt block for a td. Great situational awareness

@@SuperZombiepimp - go look at the November 24 game that was played in LA - it was a DOMINATION …
this channel has made punts one of my favorite things to watch in football. seeing 50 yard floaters hitting perfectly is so satisfying
Couldn’t agree more
That missed block was... special.
99 out of 100 times he blocks it
👀🎶
His concentration is amazing. He’s been a smooth transition from Johnny who is one of the best ever.
You said it. Johnny should be in the HOF for the banana kick, as well as fakes.
As a Rams fan, I'm so glad he's our punter, it's amazing to see him do this every game.

The real big one was the one that could have been blocked. At the time, Minnesota still had a chance.
of course they had a chance. That would of been a game changing play, but instead it flipped the field and Sam would later get sacked and fumble for a Rams TD
0:33 this was a glitch in the matrix on national television, we are living in a simulation
🤣 I was literally going to say the same thing!!!
Parcells always coached, "Dont take the foot out of football"
THATS THE MCVVAY EFFECT, BABY
He’s been doing this all season he’s a beast
That non-blocked punt was the Vikings season in a nutshell. The opportunity to take over was right there but they couldn't overcome the curse.
No curses....this vikings team never had a franchise QB all season and were projected to win only 6 games. Evans coolness under pressure especially during that missed blocked punt was amazing.
Those were some beautiful plays
Dear Isaac, your analysis makes me LOVE punt team. Thank you.
No. No one else is going to talk about it. And that’s why we love your channel!
thanks to Isaac Punts, i have a fuller appreciation of punts and special teams play. will never look at them the same again…

Those are the kind of plays that really define the game
Great video! Thanks for calling out our boy EE! Ram's House!
The punt blocker was a hologram we all got played
I literally cheered when i saw it live believing that he actually blocked it, took me awhile to realize that he actually got the punt off lol
He had to have closed his eyes to miss that block. That was some wizardry going on there.
Meanwhile, the professional TV Commentator's take: "Another good point by Ethan Evans."
My dad and I were laughing by the end of the game. 😂 he’s a fucking animal the way he pins teams.
Evans was an absolute weapon that night. Go Rams!!!
Thank you LA Rams
green bay is still ass!
Thank you for what? This doesn't change the fact that the Vikings own the cheeseheads and GB had the same record in the division as the bears, 1-5
The good news is that we don’t owe our losing quarterback another dime - much less $50-million per season for the next several years………😂
@@ddellwo exactly, it was a blessing in disguise
Isaac what songs do you use for your vids they are great
This guy makes punting look like an art form.
Yo, what's that song? My god, what a banger
Actually, the ESPN radio broadcast in LA was raving after the third quarter punt about how good Evans was.
As a vikings fan I sadly expected this video to come :'(
man I been knew he was a dope punter. since last season, he been kickin bombs!
Watching the game I was very impressed with that dude's punts, coffin corner after coffin corner.
the fact that i thought the vikings would win😭😭

Unfortunately the real Sam Darnold showed up the last two games.
Why? They already lost to the Rams earlier in the season 20-30.

I hope I see a Super Bowl where the MVP is the punter.
That missed punt was a glitch in the matrix.
As a @Giants fan Jeff Feagles spoiled us with this in the 2000's. Should be a Hall of Famer
even in slow motion I have no idea how that punt got through the block attempt
If kamu grugier hill got that block off, the game definitely could've been a lot closer.
Not to mention the fumble fluid strip sacks.
LA was gonna win either way.
I love that no one’s talking about that “Incomplete pass”. That was pathetic and shows how the nfl don’t care a bit about defence.
Not sure why that almost block punt wanst called a penalty after the rams player got thrown into the vikings kicker and got penalized
Anyone remember Ray Guy?
Classic NFL name
It’s a game of inches. 😎
it was a gutsy and courageous punting performance.
The missed block punt was a huge play of the game that could of made this a totally different game. Vikes were down a touchdown and would have had the ball in scoring position, instead they get it on their own 10 and have to go the length of the field

The last two games cost Darnold the really big bucks
No one's talking about it because if you're punting that much its an offensive failure.
It's the nature of kicking.
People only notice when you screw it up.
Real men wear horns! Go Rams!
I agree, the Vikings played an amazing game, would have won by 10-12 TD's if it weren't for the punter.
Can the medical tent be used to change underwear? Because I'm pretty sure he needed a change after seeing someone come in totally unblocked and just barely missing.
I guess the Rams had the Vikings number all year, having beaten them on October 24, 30-20. This one 27-9.

NFL told Vikings to let them win , because of California fires
Rams in the Super Bowl due to the LA fires. What a script
The penalties were a bit one sided against the rams. Officiating was a bit suspect
Sam Donald turned into Sam Donald the last 2 games. Also justin Jefferson apparently can be covered
