This video shows how to open the Freelander 2 Tailgate when the Locking actuator fails. Door car clips www.ebay.co.uk... Rear tailgate boot lock actuator. ( Aftermath Part) www.ebay.co.uk...
This video was a godsend! A different situation involving the key fab getting stuck in the hatch when it was closed and the car locked... I didn't trust myself pulling the hatch from the outside like in the video, but a little force from the inside worked perfectly. Thank you so much!
thank you for taking the trouble to make this video. I had been convinced that the handle microswitch was at fault but after replacing it (see other videos) it appeared to be the lock mechanism itself. Your video gave the courage to have a go - even though the boot was locked shut. I followed your process but used a crowbar shielded with cardboard to prize open the boot after I had unscrewed the plastic lock mechansm at (3.33 in your video). Or you could just push outwards from the insde! The new lock part arrived next day from Amazon (others supplies are available) and was easily replaced. Thanks
I’ve just fixed my car with the help of this video. And that’s quite the statement considering I’m a sausage fingered idiot. One thing I would say though is you don’t need pull the old lock to pieces. There are a couple of screws that allow the lock to fall apart. Also, you can force the boot open from the inside (lie on your back holding the plastic down and whack from the inside being careful not to hit the wiper motor etc). Either way, thanks again.

Nice video mate. Exactly what has happened to mine (2007).
Ordering the part now.
Nice that you’ve shown how to get the trim off also. A+
