Recently, Flo sent in some great questions. She asked: “What do you mean when you say ‘There are no Bright Line Eating police,’ and ‘Do what gives you peace’? These sound like invitations to tinker with the Bright Lines. What do these statements look like when making food choices? Do they apply in weight loss as well as maintenance?”
It’s true: these phrases can sound like invitations to walk off the path. The part of you that worries about this is your Food Controller. This part of you loves the BLE structure and feels supported by it. It’s suspicious of anything that sounds like it’s not exactly sticking to the plan-because the plan works.
For your growth as a human being, though, you’ll eventually want to transfer the running of your BLE program from your Food Controller to your highest, Authentic Self. Your Authentic Self chooses to follow the plan because it knows it’s in your best interests.
Let me give you some examples, then, of what these phrases mean. Let’s say someone doesn’t like to eat three meals a day. They want to follow the food plan but break it into two meals. In this situation, when I say there are no BLE police, I mean that no one is going to knock on your door to accuse you of not following the plan. This is an example of doing what brings you peace, without worrying about what works for anyone else.
Another example: You’re in your first few weeks of Boot Camp, and are invited out to eat with a friend at a Thai restaurant. We generally recommend no restaurant meals during the first 30 days of Boot Camp. So, I can see “doing what gives you peace” going either of two ways. Maybe it means that you don’t go out to the restaurant, because you won’t have peace around it. Instead, you eat your meal in advance and meet your friend afterward for a cup of tea.
Or maybe you really, deeply, believe you’ll be fine. You’ve looked up the menu and chosen your meal, and you’ve called the restaurant to make sure they can do it without sugar. You have peace about going. In fact, you feel like you would not have peace about not going. So eating this meal out gives you peace, and that’s fine, too.
By saying “Do what gives you peace,” I’m not necessarily suggesting you deviate from the Bright Lines.
We also talk about how there are no Bright Line Eating police to reassure people who have broken their Bright Lines and fear they will be judged or ostracized from our community. We’re not judging you. We love you, support you, and want you here.
Finally, Flo asked if these phrases apply to both weight loss and maintenance. The earlier you are in your Bright Line journey, the more I’d recommend that you follow the plan exactly as it’s laid out. The longer you are into maintenance, the more your brain is healed, and the better able it is to embrace these sayings.
And if you feel better just following the fabulous plan, JFTFP by all means, do that.
I also have an announcement for you today: I have 20 full scholarships for the next Book Camp available if you wish to apply. Applications are being accepted between May 15 and 19, 2024, for the Book Camp that starts June 13, 2024. There’s a link on this page that explains what you need to know and how to apply.

I'm loving this series - exactly what I need to hear since I was (re-)diagnosed with gastritis and GERD. My doctor and nutritionist both recommended 5 small meals a day, which felt like grazing to me. I went into a food-obsession spiral (again); two meals a day had been my preference. But when I broke up the plan into 5 small meals, it worked. I ate this way for nine months until my stomach settled down and adjusted to a new regimen of medications. I now eat 4 small meals, still on plan, sometimes 3. Among other things, I discovered that sugar and flour exacerbate my symptoms, as well as other foods typically known to cause GERD flares. The structure and simplicity of the plan helped me parse out the specific foods that cause flares for me. My condition is chronic (inherited) and manageable. And, I will be a Bright Lifer forever because it keeps teaching and supporting me. Thank you, Team BLE, for bringing me peace around food!

Another brilliant vlog. Your generosity in offering scholarships for the Boot Camp exemplifies your compassionate heart and your desire to heal this planet from obesity and chronic illness. You are a bright shining light, Dr. SPT.

I’m in perimenopause and anemic. I need more protein/iron than recommended, so I always have extra protein. I also eat mostly vegetarian/vegan so sometimes go over with vegetables and don’t crucify myself for that. I do what works on BLE for me and feel great. It’s working for me this way and THAT matters to me!

Thank you for the clarification. I do have a question about the upcoming boot camp, I signed up 2 weeks ago and I am currently going through boot camp now, is this one in June something different?

      Same question I have

    • @Brightlineeating
      @Brightlineeating  12 วันที่ผ่านมา

Great question! It is the same Boot Camp 2.0 course content and format with all the same benefits and features. What is happening in June is a "launch event." Approximately three times a year we host a Boot Camp launch event with educational videos and live online interactive events. This helps us to get the word out about Boot Camp and reach folks in a different way.
So the only difference is that folks who join in June will likely be joining at the same time as a large cohort of people who all start around the same time. Some people enjoy this collective experience, while other people value the option to start when the time is right for them.
Regardless of when you start Boot Camp, you'll be added into the same private online support community which is filled with other Boot Campers and Bright Lifers (folks who have already completed the Boot Camp and stayed on in our membership).
      We hope this helps! 🧡

I get it because if you go outside the Bright Lines and you've been Bright for a while, then after going outside your plan, you will not have inner peace. Then you know what you can do and stay peaceful within your inner self. Just my experience and two cents!

I follow all 4 bright lines: no sugar, no flour, eat only at meals, measured food. However I follow another food plan, not the Bright Line Eating food plan. Am I still bright?

Hi there, yes, that is a good example of doing what gives you peace! If you are following the 4 Bright lines, then you are Bright. When in doubt, using the Four Questions or discussing with a coach or mastermind can be helpful. 🧡🧡🧡
