That's amazing Well done the thing is I've used some of these speed Skims and I Have a flexible trail and a Plastic trowel and I will be honest with you I will never just use one trowel again.. the speed scim and the plastic trail make things so easy And the finishes so much nicer and this is coming from someone who has been plastering for 37 years

Very tough. Definitely 13” I think. There isn’t a lot in it with the Mt and the Nela. The MT feels lighter and lays in better, but the Nela closes in nicer and trowels up really slick. The handle in the Mt isn’t as good either.

i use a nela carbon all
the way through for the last 8 months, i do own around 40 trowels, i love the simplicity of the one and the finish with a carbon drys pure white blemish free 9 out of 10 jobs, all hail the nela carbon 👌

@@Nofixedabode859 yes mate but i actually bought the 14 to see the difference in the finish, i did a full external render with it and i can get a great finish with it, i don’t know what it is about them mate but they are loads better than ss, i think its because the metal is slightly more flexible, and they don’t half break in quick

Really great video, very detailed and informative to every diyer , new plasterer and experienced plasterers. However when we say that we are becoming lazy because of the inventions that have been brought to us as plasterers, we start to forget that no long ago joining trades was deemed for people who were not as competent at school, college drop outs , etc ,it used to be deemed the last resort for many traders out there. Today we live in the world where we want equality and we acknowledge the differences between us for example different learning styles and we try to help our friends to achieve the same goals in plastering regardless of whatever method they use and that is to achieve a perfect finish. Solely relying on one trowel is a great skill to horn and everyone should try it but I would say it is not for everyone, I do believe that everyone is different and if we are teaching people how to plaster we should introduce them to all methods so that they can make their choice for what is suitable for them to achieve the perfect finish we all want and in addition new inventions make work faster, easier, less complicated and less strain on the body. I do love using one trowel from start to finish ,we also shouldn’t shy away from the new way of plastering, one day speed skims , flexis will be a thing of the past too✌️

I think this is abit other thinking things personally I think keep it easy lay on and flatten with a decent steel or carbon always and use a good superflex for a final pass and polish this always works for me but I’ve been at it 22 years now no matter what tool u use it’s all about the timing knowing when to work the plaster

Normally I soak them in vinegar over night to reduce pitting from rush. With this one I could be bothered.
What I would do is use it every day for a few weeks without putting oil on it. That will get the patina on it much faster as it will rust up over night, then wear off when you use it. Then once it’s blacked up a bit, start spraying it with WD40. I have found it sharpens up quicker. (I would oil it if your not going to use it for a few days, like over the weekend etc, to reduce rust build up.)
