Minus -9 yard line? The ball would be one yard from the back of the end zone, and the punter would be punting from out of bounds. I would gladly make a bet with my life savings that has never happened.
Youre not comprehending, the pubted it from the -9 yard line, meaning they were on like the 2 yard line, and get had 1 yard of space to punt it. All you had to do was WATCH the video to figure that one out
Officials need to start counting punt yardage from the point of the kick like field goals are...not from the point of snap. He had an 80+ yard punt but didn't get credit for it.
I was a punter throughout high school and no one was able to tell me why the rule was set like it is. My kicking coach, who ended up coaching 5 teams in the NFL with two Super Bowl rings, had no idea why. The only thing I could figure out was the field goal has a set spot the kicker has to kick at. A punter moves from any given point after the snap and there is no set point to mark. Therefore, the set line of scrimmage is the point of reference. Guess it made it easier for the statisticians back in the day to spot the point where to start the yardage.
@@spokanetomcat1 When a ball is pitched back to a tailback or WR they don't count that distance either. The distance the ball moves forward from the line of scrimmage is what matters.
Still waiting for the punter to snap.....whatever the hell the headline means by that Also, all of his lengthy punts are due to the punt receivers not being deep enough and allowing the ball to roll downfield

Rutgers’ Adam Korsak should have won the Ray Guy that year. Adam had better statistics in EVERY major category that goes into making that decision. The Ray Guy Award voting panel was apparently seduced by the long ball. Rutgers standout Adam Korsak was denied school history Thursday night when San Diego State’s Matt Araiza won the honor, given annually to the nation’s top punter, during ESPN’s college football awards show. Korsak was bidding to become the first Scarlet Knight in program history to win a major national on-field individual award. But Araiza, who has become a viral sensation due to his booming kicks and “Punt God” nickname, got the nod over Korsak and fellow finalist Jordan Stout of Penn State. And to be frank, Korsak and Rutgers have several reasons to believe the Australian star got hosed. According to criteria outlined by the Augusta Sports Council, which created and manages the award named for the late Guy, a College Football and Pro Football Hall of Famer, “particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics: net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.” Korsak’s 45.34 net average this season currently stands as a new NCAA single-season team record, and he had superior percentages of kicks downed inside the 20 and kicks returned compared to Araiza and Stout. Korsak also went the entire year without a touchback (and hasn’t had one since 2019) while Araiza had 14 touchbacks in the regular season and had a punt to be returned for a touchdown after out-kicking his coverage. But in the end, Araiza’s booming kicks and 51.4 average per kick -- on pace to be a new NCAA record -- overpowered the criteria. Korsak, who already owns all the Rutgers career punting records, will return for his final year of eligibility in 2022. Korsak ended up winning in the 2022 season BUT should have definitely won it in 2021. Nothing again Matt personally and just a total hose job for Adam by the committee when looking at what was supposed to matter in 2021.
Ummmmm, how do you get the ball on the minus 9 yard line? It was on their own 9 yard line, he made a fabulous punt from his own end zone after the snap (okay, several fabulous punts) but let’s keep it factual. There is no MINUS yard line, that would be in the end zone and thus a safety.

He'll never see a snap in the NFL....
hes a little good
Let's hear the announcers...
whats up with that punter 10 seconds in... he was full of swagg... that aint normal, and what would make a punter feel that cool
Ray Guy the best ever punter
Yeah, I remember him. The Eagles need this guy, our punter sucks.
How are they 0-1 week one?
Bro was accused of R and lost his chance at the NFL. Turns out he wasn't how the girl claimed it happened. Acquitted but was cut from the team before the acquittal. DA didn't even want to press charges, because it was consensual according to video tape and interviews with her friends who were there that night.
Do Tory Taylor!! Go Hawks
Shoutout Thomas Morestead greatest punter ever🏆🏅
Loved it when the Bills got him. Sickened by the Country wide hissy fit to dump him. Happy when he was cleared. Hope that dirty Bee atch goes to jail for perjury.
@@jima28080 You are correct.
"Ball on the MINUS NINE YARD LINE"? How is that even possible?
Has “snap” been redefined? I can’t keep up.
Still waiting for the punter to snap.....whatever the hell the headline means by that
Also, all of his lengthy punts are due to the punt receivers not being deep enough and allowing the ball to roll downfield
Just punt on first down.
The Original? The young kids have no clue about Ray Guy.
BTW, exactly WHAT is a 'punter snap'?
I kicked 60-62 punts many times when the field was long---- on the fly. I was pulled out of practice after kicking it over the head of our return man--- an eventual NFL punt return Hall of Famer.
Our coach replaced an 18-tear head coach--- and this fool recruited abpunter. Needing to NOT look like a fool for having a full scholarship punter on the bench, he replaced a porential All-American punter--- who was also a potential All-American Safety.
Oh! The bad decisions of a new head coach promoting his new team, and ignoring the real talent in his seniors. 😎
According to criteria outlined by the Augusta Sports Council, which created and manages the award named for the late Guy, a College Football and Pro Football Hall of Famer, “particular emphasis is placed on the following statistics: net average, percentage of total punts inside the 20-yard line and percentage of punts not returned.”
Korsak’s 45.34 net average this season currently stands as a new NCAA single-season team record, and he had superior percentages of kicks downed inside the 20 and kicks returned compared to Araiza and Stout.
There is no MINUS yard line, that would be in the end zone and thus a safety.
if you like to hear yourself talk, make a video like this.
Confusing title. It is the center who snaps the ball; the punter kicks the ball.
Robbie Miami dolphins
Sounds like they need to trade their back up kicker for a starting QB LOL
Watch Owen Farrell or George Ford (England Rugby) and many others ......you will get this all the time.
Soooooo unremarkable.
