Stephanie (Long dark hair...next to Lincoln) was Percival and she didn't open her eyes and look to see who Merlin and Morgana were! This error clearly cost them the game.

Every time Lincoln looks at the camera you have to take a shot.
On the second game, Merlin gives himself away not "by being too vocal", but by choosing the 3 other good guys at the table for a mission he didn't even put himself on! Dead give-away to bad guys. You don't randomly choose 3 of 6 other people around the table and NOT hit a bad guy with zero knowledge. Why would you not even put yourself on it unless you had a ton of information?
As a Loyal, you should never not take yourself on the mission unless the rest of the table insists on keeping the same team as last time (and the numbers & fails required are the same).
Sooo passive! When I played it, we shouted like no tomorrow, I remember on the first game we got so upset over each other one of us shouted he was Merlin on the 5th quest (and of course that was a laugh, as the bad guys won immediately).
This game is all about NOT trusting others, believe me is way more aggressive than this.

The most fucking peaceful game of the resistance
Why did Dave almost cost his team the victory in the first game? He was evil and knew at least 1 evil character was in the quest group, and it was the last quest. He should have 100% accepted it, because if it doesn't fail, it's a win. Another question is who was percival in the first game? didn't see anyone open their eyes for his special ability. Also, merlin should have convinced people away from the final quest setup knowing he would lose regardless of him being obvious merlin
Completely agree about preferring this over werewolf. You should try with Lady of the Lake, It's another reason this game is better than the base plus it gives the stable boys (Loyal Servants of Arthur) information they can use.
This is my third time watching this since I found it. It's such a great game to play and watch! :D
I only wish there were more videos of people playing this game on TH-cam. Maybe you guys could play regular resistance in the future?
So I've played this game probably 2 dozen times over the past 8 years and I just realized a huge bit of strategy from watching these games. Good guys and bad guys tend to vote together. By the 3rd game it was so obvious. How did I never notice this before.
Werewolf, Mascarade AND Resistance? Never let anyone tell you you didn't go out with a bang!

Watch the tabletop video of this game to get a much better sense of how much fun this game is. This was the most passive play I've ever seen...I don't think anyone even knew which character they were at the start of the first game...
In Resistance, if the votation gets rejected 5 times, the Resistance (good guys) loose the entire game, not just 1 mission/quest.
If you are playing with 10+ people it can be very likely that you'll have enough evil players sitting next to each other to fail 5 votes in a row.
FemJesse Except the Resistance members would approve the missions and reject the ones that they could reject, that would essentially make it easy to spot certain Spies and make it likely that spies would double fail missions to make it easy to spot them
Breaking the fourth wall must really work up a mean thirst.
On the last quest, if you're a good player and not on the mission, you should reject the quest because it will fail (at least one evil player must be on the quest).

Played this at Dragonflight over the weekend. First night had 5-6 people. 8 distinct people played it the next night. I won six of the seven games as a spy. We weren't to vocal though during gameplay.
I hope they do a demo of "One Night Ultimate Werewolf" with Daybreak and give their opinions versus other similar games.

I think the assassin and his one shot to win it regardless of what happens on the quests makes it too easy for evil to win, as Merlin's special ability is basically useless unless he acts in a reasonably obvious fashion. However, of course, if the assassin was not a factor Merlin could simply tell everyone who the bad players were and thusly steer the good team to an easy victory, provided the others trust him, as one of the evil players (Morgana, so as not to tip off Percival, would be my choice) would also claim to be Merlin and tell you whom the good and bad players are, maybe even outing one of their own side so as to appear more trustworthy. I think that would make for a more interesting and balanced game.

On revealing the Success and Fail cards, do you stop revealing once a Fail card is shown to cover up how many Fails there are OR do you reveal all cards to show the total number of Fail cards? (In the exception of the quest that needs 2 Fail cards.)

That first game was so quick! no wonder the minions of mordred won!
For anyone interested, there is an Android app with a much better voiced moderator and is smoother than the one they used because it does not have the countdown.
As a good guy you should always vote against the proposal right until the 5th to get as much information as possible from everyone. Also, its better for the minions if the game progresses quickly so people wont have time to really talk whats on their mind at all time..
that siri thing was way longer then the normal resistance... all we have are spies, damn! lol what did he mean when he said resistance werewolf? Never heard of that one.
I've been playing smaller games recently. Would like to get in larger group game.
Can someone explain why these people would reject the first mission? You either have no information or want to make it seem like you have no information i.e. you're merlin. When I play this as evil, it's usually the random reject votes that give merlin away.
How do you even get info in this game? Had I closed my eyes while Siri was talking I would have never figured out who was who. Where is the information?
Last game at this time was good. It feels like unless you're Merlin or a spy the game is less interesting. Though it's more challenging to not be them. You have to find out who the spies are inconspicuously.
I believe the rules state that: if there are 5 failed votes in a row then the evil side wins the game not just the quest. I admit it is rare that it will happen just saying though.
Can’t get your logic - if the first round is succeeded, why on this planet Earth you won’t send the same people on the second mission? You have no knowledge of the other characters (or need to pretend you don’t), so if you were Merilin and knew there was a bad guy on the first mission hiding himself, you are revealing yourself by not choosing the same people for the mission, as apparently they already know you have extra information.
I know its a long shot. But I was looking for the name of that pick first player app for android.
Players should almost always vote the first couple of missions down to get more information.

in the second game the bad guys messed up knowing there was no one to fail the last mission, they shouldve rejected it but they approved it... >_

Played a couple of seven way games. New players involved. I won on the spy side twice. Dealt the same minion twice.
Standard minion can not appear in a 7 people game. Evil team should use oberon.

There are some games I would like to put online of avalon. But I didn't record them and fear people out there I don't want to share it with. I played two games yesterday and was on the resistance side for one, the assassin for the other game. I got dealt Merlin and played him well. I won with the rest. Though I lost as the assassin since they covered Merlin well.
Percival picked Morgana AND Merlin? Why, why, why?

lol the way you guys are playing is WAYYYY too passive. After 3-4 games, I lost my voice... You guys are supposed to reject a lot, when I play, after 1 single quest, everybody starts suspecting everyone and accusing, and an active game should last around 25-30 minutes.
This was kind of painful to watch. They accepted every team, Merlin was totally transparent, Loyalists picked random teams for no reason with no discussion... And they were approved anyway.
When I play it takes 1-2 hours because of the debates that break out. But we play with 12 soooo yeah lol

This is a good overview of the game, and correct by the rules, but absolutely awful with strategy. Way too many off approvals, and no one playing their roles with any strategy at all. Of course, no one had much of a chance since literally any mission that was proposed was approved with no real discussion. This is a good explanation of the rules of the game, but a really bad example of how Avalon actually plays (once you've played one bad round like this.)
if I were to play this game, every round I'd be like:
"I am a respected member of the community, to even insinuate..."
And when we fail a quest:
"He is a traitor and a scoundrel"
This is good, but I think you mix up the voting as well. They shouldn't be able to tell who voted what.

This game gave me trust issues.
This game was not played well at all. All the roles were so obvious after the first two missions!

When i play with my friend we gather up all votes before revealing so people don't know who voted what.
I've seen it played that way but have never ever done this in person. Knowing who voted for what seems like crucial information (for the loyalists).
Wouldn't that make it just a game of sheer luck? Voting is pretty much the only way to gain infor ation in The Resistance, and you're taking that away
this was hard to watch... the voting... good guys voting for ridiculous things... ahhhh
That first game was one of the most painful things to watch, ZERO logic and ZERO deduction, these guys are terrible at this game

I thought as much. Maybe after a few more playthroughs they would be more comfortable with how the game goes.
the only thing i dislike is how you all show if the quest is approved or not, when we pay we shuffle the card so no one knows who approved the quest or not.
Thats how to play the game , the way you play is just a guessing game of luck

Public voting is by far the norm.
According the standard rules, as described in the rules booklet, voting is public. However, if you have experimented with such rules where its not, I would like to hear your experiences, in my latest games good guys have had rather good win percentage, and maybe obscuring the votes could work as a balance mechanic

standard rules says "Each plaayer, including the Leader secretly selects one Vote Card. When all players have selected Vote card ready, the Leader asks for the Votes to be revealed. All Vote tokens are flpped over so everyone can see how you voted." It does not say how you voted as in individual or as a group. So our group decided that it was voted in secret and when revealed it was revealed as a group after the cards are mixed up. So that it gives the spies more of an advantage in some ways.

These guys are so bad at the game and seriously they need to better looking crew.
We always play with anonymous voting when playing with Merlin. We find it to be too easy for the assassin to find out who Merlin is.
I feel like that removes a good bit of the strategy of being Merlin. Half the job of a good Merlin is covering your tracks.
Uh.. Then Merlin shouldn't be so obvious about their votes. The solution isn't to change the rules of the game to deny the Loyalists the only source of information they have, (seeing how people vote on teams is critical), the solution is for Merlin to be a little smart about not rejecting every team with a Minion on it.
