It's a card game called Avalon (Resistance). Similar to Mafia and Among Us but not quite.

Yes, playing a fail in a 2 people Mission is usually not a great strategy, but he messed up twice cause he's Mordred! Know Merlin already knows that the last bad guy is one of two people, and Mordred will not be picked in future missions if the good team plays correctly

if they included themselves, edward and sarah will deduce that they're bad because edward, sarah and sheldon is good so it'll be 100% but adding themself will make it 66.7%. Also if they added someselves, not only will that let edward and sarah confirm they're bad but also it wouldn't go through because the 4 good girls will vote no.
Here's the thing. If the good guy is excluded from a critical team up, like the final round team of four people and has to succeed, that good guy will know there's something serious wrong about the previous reasonings. That good guy gonna try hard like nuts to flip the table. However, if that's a bad guy, he or she might just give up like a deflated ballon and don't know how to continue acting... And the "deflated ballon" is definitely what's happening here...
